Married To The Dragon Prince Against My Will-Chapter 219: LOOSING HER MEMORY
"She’s awake! She’s awake!"
The frantic scream echoed down the hallway. One of Lord Drex’s trainee healers burst from the chamber, along with another lady her face flushed with panic and relief.
"Really?" Lord Drex asked sharply.
The young woman nodded so fast her hair shook. Without wasting another breath, Lord Drex turned and almost ran toward the room but he stopped the moment he sensed two heavy presences behind him.
The princes.
Adam and Alexis stood shoulder-to-shoulder, tension radiating from both of them. Lord Drex lifted a hand, breath shaky.
"You cannot enter yet. I must confirm whether she’s stable enough to receive visitors."
Adam’s jaw twitched. Then he stormed toward Lord Drex like a bull charging.
"Excuse me?" His voice cracked like fire. "Do not tell me what I can or cannot do. My mother needs to wake up. I do not have time for nonsense like this."
Before Lord Drex could react, Adam shoved past him and pushed the chamber doors open.
Inside, chaos unfolded.
Two healers supported Lumina, trying to help her sit. Her head drooped forward, her fingers trembling as she clutched her temple. Her breathing was shallow, uneven.
Adam reached her in three long strides.
He grabbed her by the neck.
"Wake my mother up. Now!"
Gasps scattered through the room. One of the healers dropped the cloth she was holding and stumbled backward.
Lumina winced, confusion washing over her face. Her brows pinched together as pain shot through her head.
"What?" she whispered, flinching as Adam’s grip tightened. She squeezed her eyes shut and lifted a shaking hand to her forehead. "What are you talking about?"
Adam leaned closer, rage vibrating in his words. "Do not pretend. Do not try to play smart with me—"
But his voice faded under the sight of tears streaking down her cheeks.
"Wh... why... why are you doing this to me?" she whispered, genuinely terrified.
Everyone froze.
Lumina never cried.
Lumina never looked weak.
Lumina never trembled.
Adam’s fingers slowly loosened from shock.
"What?" he breathed.
Her tears fell faster. "Are... aren’t you my... my husband?"
The entire room stopped breathing.
Adam froze completely.
Alexis stiffened.
Lord Drex’s eyes widened.
"What... what is happening?" Alexis murmured.
Lord Drex swallowed hard and shook his head slowly, helpless.
Before anyone could speak again, the doors banged open.
Serena rushed inside.
"Lumina!" she cried, pushing past Adam without hesitation. She cupped Lumina’s shoulders. "How are you? Are you hurting anywhere?"
"Don’t touch her," Alexis growled, voice low and dangerous.
Serena rolled her eyes aggressively and ignored him.
Adam snapped, "Why are you all standing there?! Check on her!"
Lord Drex stepped forward, but Lumina suddenly flinched and lifted her head slightly.
"What is happening?" she whispered. "Why... can’t I see your faces? I hear your voices but... nothing looks familiar."
Lord Drex froze mid-step.
Serena’s hands fell from Lumina’s shoulders, shock draining the color from her face. "No... no, no, no... You’re not saying she—"
"What exactly is she implying?" Alexis asked, turning sharply.
Serena swallowed hard, voice trembling. "She... she lost her—"
"She lost her memory," Lord Drex finished, voice heavy.
Silence crashed over them.
A cold, suffocating silence.
"What?" Adam’s voice roared through the chamber like thunder.
Lumina, still trembling, stretched her hand blindly toward the direction of Adam’s voice.
"I’m afraid... Adam..."
Adam stiffened. Shock flickered through his eyes — she remembered his name.
"Aren’t you my husband... by...?" she whispered.
"He is no—" Serena began.
But Adam whirled toward her and wrapped his hand around her throat before she could speak another syllable. He dragged her close, face inches from hers.
"Finish that sentence," he whispered darkly, "and I will kill you in front of your father. Don’t forget how attached you are to your child."
Serena clawed at his wrist, terrified, but Adam only released her when she nearly collapsed.
Alexis stepped closer to Lumina, more slowly than before. "Why do you remember Adam? How about Ashen? Do you recall him?"
Lumina tilted her head slightly, confusion carving lines into her face.
"Who is... Ashen?" she asked softly.
Serena’s jaw dropped. Her knees almost gave out.
Of all the things she planned... she never expected this outcome.
"So you do not remember any name like that?" Alexis asked again.
Lumina shook her head slowly, still reaching out blindly.
"Adam... why are you staying back? Don’t you..." Her voice broke, tears falling again.
Adam smirked.
This was perfect.
A gift from the gods themselves.
Ashen, I am winning. And when you return... I hope it destroys you.
Serena snapped, "Father! Are you just going to stand there and watch this?!"
A single low growl from Adam made her shrink instantly.
"You all leave," Alexis ordered quietly. "The three of us will speak alone."
"I can’t!" Serena argued. "The one she truly trusts isn’t here—"
Lord Drex seized her arm and pulled her out before she could finish. He bowed quickly to Lumina and shut the door behind them.
Outside, the moment the door closed, Lord Drex shoved Serena’s hand away.
"Why must you make things harder for me?" he hissed. "I am trying to keep you alive, Serena! But you keep provoking them. One wrong word — one — and they will kill you."
Serena wiped her tears angrily. "Father... you always defended the king. You always stood against corruption. How can you suddenly bend to them?"
"Because I must!" Lord Drex shouted. His voice cracked. "If you had never married into this cursed palace — if you had listened to me — none of this would threaten your life!"
Serena’s face crumpled and she threw her arms around him.
"I’m sorry... I was blind," she sobbed. "I only married Adam for revenge. He deceived me for years. I don’t love him. I never planned any of this."
Lord Drex sighed, exhausted. "Truly?"
She nodded quickly. "I promise... I won’t stay with him forever. I have a plan. Everything will return to normal soon."
She stepped back just enough to wipe her tears — and froze when a shadow appeared at the corner of the hallway.
Rhynera.
Her eyes burned with rage.
"Well, well," Rhynera said softly. "So you do not even love Adam anymore... yet you made my life miserable in the process?"
Serena smirked, not the least bit ashamed.
"You will all pay for Mia’s death..." Rhynera whispered, trembling with grief and fury.
Serena’s hand slid slowly to her stomach. Her fingers curled around a small bottle hidden under her robe. She pulled it out with a cold smile.
"Thank goodness I am not pregnant," she said quietly. "I only tricked them."
Rhynera’s breath hitched.
Serena stepped closer, her smile turning wicked.
"And now... not only will I make you lose your pregnancy..."
She lifted the bottle.
"...but I will also make sure everyone believes I lost mine because of you."
Rhynera’s heart plummeted.
Serena turned and walked away confidently, her cloak sweeping behind her like the tail of a serpent.
