Chapter 224: Controversy

"You’re not going anywhere." Abi’s abrupt tone caught her off guard, prompting a scoff before she responded with a smirk.

"And what gives you the idea that you could restrict my freedom?"

Abi remained silent, shifting her position on the chair, her gaze casting an icy atmosphere throughout the room.

Abi made herself comfortable on the bed, crossing her legs in a relaxed manner.

She lifted her hand, idly toying with the freshly done nail extensions.

"Allow me to offer you a bit of guidance," she remarked with a serene tone.

Elizabeth furrowed her brow as Abi continued to focus on the intricate design of her nails, only to suddenly lift her eyes in a piercing glance.

"Whenever you consider going somewhere with someone, make sure to have an escape plan or at least know the destination."

"Pardon?"

Abi drew a long breath, then slowly surveyed the room, her gaze eventually coming to rest on her.

"Look around the room, the waitress, the manager, everyone here. Who do you think is the owner of this restaurant?"

She questioned and then there was a moment of silence till she came into realization.

"You can’t be kidding me," she murmured about to take another feet but then Abi talked to her audibly.

"You should know that every person in this room works for me, if you take a step away from this place then I promise you, you’re going to be in a big fit."

Elizabeth stared at her in a speechless motive unable to open her mouth but she made her action fast immediately reaching for her phone on the table so she could call her man.

"Who are you trying to call?" Abi stated in a calm tone as a devious smile appeared on her expression.

"Why don’t you get it, there’s no one to save you from this place," Abi giggled seeing how anxious she turned into.

"You’re lying, it can’t be possible. How is that—"

"Seriously, are you one of those drama queens who make everything into a charade? Take your seat and just like I’ve said, let’s have a talk."

Elizabeth hesitated for a moment, unsure about following the suggestion, but eventually, she sat down, though her posture was not completely settled.

She remained partially poised to react, ready to spring into action if the situation required it.

"Are you that uncomfortable? Is just a conversation, just like you were doing before, why can’t you continue eating your food?"

Abi spoke in a jovial tone as she presented the food on the table.

There was a cunning smile on her expression.

"I hope I’m not making you so uncomfortable just to eat, I promise you is just a normal way of speaking."

Elizabeth had a small smile as her hand held the cutlery and then she began to eat from the food.

"That’s more like it. I knew you wouldn’t want to risk your life anyhow," Abi commented.

Elizabeth gently chewed on her meal and then she looked at her with curiosity.

" What are you planning on doing? " She spoke.

" Me? " She shrugged her shoulders.

" Is nothing, " Abi added.

" But you made me come here and now you’re interrogating me like some detective or something. "

"I ought to be the one pointing out that you informed your son of the events from years past, but you filled his head with falsehoods. So tell me, how did you come by that information? "

Elizabeth’s brow was furrowed in confusion. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

"What do you mean?"

Abi heaved a deep breath; this woman was really something to manage.

"Reflecting on it, the previous time we conversed and you used that haughty tone, you boasted extensively about your unmatched abilities. So, why are you now acting as though my words are a mystery to you?"

She fell into silence.

"You gathered information about my family and circulated falsehoods about them. You opposed my family, so explain to me why I shouldn’t create something to shed light on your intentions. Oh, what am I talking about? I mean, help you understand exactly who you’re dealing with."

" Don’t blame me for something that your family created. Besides, I was right, you unexpectedly kidnapped me without making a pinch and now you want me to tell you how this event came about? Why do you want to know about how I knew?"

"Repeating the story once more isn’t necessary; I just want to hear it when I’m calm, not needing you to say such things. Who mentioned those words to you?"

Elizabeth’s gentle demeanor was evident as a smile played across her lips, unable to believe what was unfolding before her.

" Tell the truth while I’m still cool with you, trust me when you pull the trigger of my anger, is something you wouldn’t want so tell me now that I’m gentle with you. "

" You are bluffing. "

" One, two, three, " a sharp sound crossed though the room and out of fear, Elizabeth placed her hands on her ear with a grunt.

Abi had a giggle leave her lips as Elizabeth dropped her hands slowly with an unexpected expression.

It was a gunshot and everyone in the room still looked calm like nothing happened.

She looked around the room, was she the only one hearing it or what?

’Rest assured, prior to our arrival, I took the liberty of notifying everyone that there would be some unpleasant noise. It’s important to note that whatever transpires will not impact anyone else; it is solely for the individual who needs to understand my message."

" Are you trying to threaten me? "

"You were the person involved in that not too long ago, and since I demonstrated my seriousness about my statements, why are you shifting the focus onto me? I’m not attempting to intimidate you; I’m merely following through on what I promised I would do."

" Then, then what did you do? "

" That driver or what do you call him, oh yeah, your bodyguard that you let outside. Where did you find him from?"

" Did you kill him? "

Abi remained silent.

" I promise I’ll call the police after you, you’re such a murder."

" A murder? Now that’s the word that got you in trouble in the first place and like before, you want to complicate your life furthermore. "

" I promise—"

"Hey, even if you notify the police, believe me when I say there’s nothing they can do about it. You refer to that man as a guard, but in reality, he’s one of the most wanted criminals. He’s supposed to be in police custody."

"However, when I encountered you near this area, an idea struck me, and I informed the police about this man. They considered coming here, so I suggested they arrive in plain clothes to handle him discreetly. But you know what? First, they’ll target him, and then it’ll be your turn."

Elizabeth widened her eyes unable to say a word and then Abi chuckled as she reached out for her cup and then once again took a sip.

Her eyes stared at her with a devilish demeanor.

"What am I being punished for?"

"Well, you let a man like him protect you then that means you’re trying to get someone killed so in that sense you must be an accomplice of that guy," she said and then placed a full smile.

"Trust me the police didn’t kill him, they are just torturing him, at least just for a while and as for you, if you don’t answer my questions then I promise you."

She stayed silent for a while as her eyes made the conversation.

"You know will happen right? So, tell me miss detector, how did you find out about Enim?"

"Well, Abi actually," Elizabeth lowered her head feeling a bit confined.

She initially assumed Abi was just an average girl who would follow the IMF’s instructions without question. However, Abi turned out to be someone who defied being controlled like a mere puppet.

She knew her suspicion was right, having Vixen as her second power then she could use it as defense for herself.

At the moment, she was weak, but she was going to come back.

At least she had to bring something up if she wanted to move away from here safely.

"Well, Enim was popular on the internet, wasn’t she? Everyone knew about her and her sister and besides, don’t you remember the controversy that happened years ago?"

Elizabeth spoke but when she looked into Abi’s eyes she could see it clearly that she knew nothing of what she was talking about.

Abi was someone who did research on the person she was going to move closer to then why was such a controversy of years ago difficult for her to know.

"Oh yeah, you’re not from this country, are you?" Abi stayed calm without a word.
