Chapter 381: I’m the Savior

"So, what exactly?"

Grandpa Reid suddenly realized—all the men who captured and attacked Selina were his bodyguards, but he had never ordered her death! It was Joe acting on his own—and now he was being used as the scapegoat.

It wouldn’t have been a problem if Selina were really dead. But she wasn’t—she was alive. She was living proof.

If this blew up, and word got out that the patriarch of the Reid Family tried to murder his own granddaughter-in-law... how was he supposed to show his face again?

So, in that case...

Selina curled her lips into a cool smile. "Old Master, if it’s not something you did yourself, you really shouldn’t take the fall for others. Don’t you agree?"

Joe panicked. "Old Master! The two families—"

Logan cut in calmly, "Grandpa, this is the account of that trusted bodyguard of yours. Over the past fifteen years, Katie has been wiring money to him—over ten million in total."

"Before Katie was arrested, she had several phone calls with him, instructing him to ’take care of’ Angelica. I’ve already investigated—he’s one of Katie’s secret lovers."

"During the time Selina was locked in that warehouse, that same bodyguard received a call—from Angelica."

Logan’s smile was icy. "Grandpa, you really should thank Selina. If she hadn’t suspected something was off with the bodyguard, you might never have found out that your most trusted man had already been bought off by Angelica."

Grandpa Reid’s lips trembled. He could hardly believe it.

Angelica... bribed his bodyguard? Hired someone to kill—and tried to pin it on him?

"Oh, and Angelica," Logan added suddenly, casually playing with a phone in his hand.

"Even though that bodyguard works for you now, you all should know—Reid Family bodyguard phones come with full GPS tracking and automatic call recording. That means I know where he went, what he did, and who he spoke to."

Logan let the phone spin once in his palm. "Grandpa, would you be interested in listening to one of those calls?"

Grandpa Reid’s lips trembled again. He wanted to say no—he didn’t want to be humiliated in front of a crowd.

But clearly, Logan didn’t care anymore. Not when it came to Selina.

Angelica lunged forward in panic, trying desperately to stop him—but it was too late.

The phone call recording played. In the video, the bodyguard stood inside a rundown warehouse, a woman’s body—Selina—lying motionless nearby.

A female voice came through the speaker. Everyone froze.

It was Angelica. frёewebnoѵēl.com

—"Figure out a way to kill Selina. Make it painful. I’ve already faked the will. Once it’s done, you’ll be rewarded."

—"Angelica, I don’t want a reward. I promised your mom I’d help you. But what if Selina dies and Logan suspects you?"

—A cold laugh. "You’re Grandpa Reid’s bodyguard. If Selina dies at your hands, shouldn’t Logan suspect Grandpa Reid? Relax—with a scapegoat like that standing in front of me, what could possibly go wrong?"

Grandpa Reid nearly collapsed from shock.

He had actually been about to take the blame for Joe—never imagining that Morris Group had been plotting behind his back like this.

The other guests were visibly chilled. Even the livestream audience began commenting whether the police should be called.

This was attempted murder. Selina survived, sure—but what if she hadn’t?

"Grandpa Reid, no! That’s not true! It’s not like that!" Angelica collapsed to the floor, sobbing, shaking her head frantically. "I didn’t do it—I didn’t try to kill her..."

Outside Sapphire Valley Villa, police sirens blared, deafening the guests. That was when everyone realized—Logan had been telling the truth all along. He had already called the police. There was no escape for Angelica now.

First came the fake will. Then, the murder-for-hire plot. One bombshell after another shattered Angelica’s carefully constructed image and dragged it through the dirt.

Some guests couldn’t hold back and started cursing her out—only Joe stood in front of her, shielding her with a heartbroken expression.

"Logan, do you really have to push this so far?!" Joe shouted in anguish. "Selina didn’t die, and yet you’re forcing Angelica into a corner like this..."

He clutched his chest, pained. "Have you forgotten that Angelica saved your life?! How could you repay kindness with cruelty?!"

No one responded to Joe. Even if Angelica had saved Logan—so what? Attempted murder was still a crime. Was Logan supposed to be shackled by a "life debt" forever?

But then Logan smiled. "Chairman Morris, I think you’re mistaken. I have been repaying my debt to the person who saved me."

Joe’s temper ignited again. "Are you trying to say calling the cops is some kind of favor to Angelica?! Selina’s alive—did you really have to blow this up like it’s a scandal?! If it weren’t for Angelica four years ago, you’d be dead by now—"

"Are you sure you’re not mistaken, Chairman Morris?" Logan cut in coldly. "Who ever said Angelica was my savior?"

The entire room froze.

Wait—what? Logan just denied it? Everyone knew Angelica was the one who saved him. Now he was saying it wasn’t her?

Joe actually laughed in disbelief. "Logan, you can criticize Angelica for not being kind, for being manipulative—but I never thought you’d go so far as to deny she saved your life! Everyone else can hate her, but not you!"

He had a point. People could hate Angelica for everything else—but Logan? He owed her his life. And now he was throwing that away... for Selina?

Angelica’s face went pale as she frantically shook her head. Why was Logan saying this? Did he find out something?

No, she was already ruined publicly—she had to protect the identity of "Logan’s savior" and her status as the Morris Family heiress. It was the only way to survive.

She couldn’t let the truth come out—she couldn’t.

Trying to sound noble, Angelica said softly, "Logan, I promise you—I’ll never bring up the whole ’savior’ thing again. I’ll bury that memory deep in my heart..."

"Angelica," Logan cut her off, his voice flat. "I said you’re not the one. Didn’t you hear me?"

Joe was just about to explode when Angelica suddenly broke into sobs.

"Logan! I know I wronged you and Selina, I know I messed up—everything is my fault! But if I wasn’t the one who saved you, then who was? Please, stop saying that..."

"It was me, Angelica,"

Selina’s calm voice cut through the air like a blade. "It was me. Surprised?"

...

The room exploded with shock.

Everyone stared in disbelief. Wait—what did Selina just say? That she was Logan’s real savior?

Joe once again rushed to defend his daughter.

"Nonsense! And you claim Angelica stole from you? You’re the one stealing her credit!"

"Stole her credit?" Selina repeated, her tone cool. She turned to Angelica, her voice suddenly sharp:

"Then tell me—what year, what month, and what day did you meet Logan? Where did you meet him? What condition was he in—was he poisoned or injured? What did he call you back then? After the snowstorm sealed off the eastern mountains of City H, how did you survive up there for half a month?"

With every question Selina asked, Angelica’s face turned a shade paler.
