Married First, Loved Later : A Flash Marriage with My Ex's 'Uncle'-Chapter 361: Beyond Redemption
Chapter 361: Beyond Redemption
The room fell silent. Selina held her cheek, her expression darkening by the second.
She looked Joe in the eye, face expressionless.
So this was her so-called father, huh? Angelica’s move had worked—after that slap, Selina could never return to the Morris family. The bridge was burned. Completely.
Joe suddenly felt a wave of unease rising in his chest—an inexplicable panic, like he had just lost something vital. Something slipping through his fingers. Something he couldn’t grasp.
But as he looked at Angelica lying in a pool of blood, rage once again overtook reason.
"Miss Clark," Joe said coldly, "you won’t get away with assault. The Morris family will make sure Angelica gets justice!"
Angelica sobbed with fake innocence, shaking her head. "Dad, just let it go... it’s my fault."
Joe’s fury deepened. He grabbed Selina by the shoulder and barked, "Apologize!"
Selina’s voice turned cold. "And what makes you so sure I pushed her, Mr. Morris?"
Joe choked. "What do you mean? It was just the two of you—if not you, then who?"
"If we were the only two there, do you really think I’d be stupid enough to push her?" Selina shot back.
Joe’s face reddened. She had a point. If Selina had pushed Angelica, knowing there were no other witnesses, it would have been the dumbest move imaginable.
"Selina," Angelica whimpered, "I didn’t mean to blame you. I just wanted to talk... I thought we could get along. But I didn’t expect... you couldn’t even tolerate the child in my belly..."
She burst into tears. "If you had a problem with me, you could’ve taken it out on me—why did you have to hurt my baby?"
"Selina, I know you resent me for carrying his child... you think I’m a shameless homewrecker, but did you ever consider this: my baby would’ve been yours too. You wouldn’t even need to give birth—you’d have a child handed to you. Isn’t that a good deal?"
The crowd erupted in outrage.
"Selina, are you even human? She’s pregnant! No matter how much you hate her, you don’t kill a baby!"
"No wonder the Reid family doesn’t want you. So vicious—you can’t even stand an unborn child!"
"That child is your husband’s too. Why can’t you treat him like your own?"
"What, you’re the wife, and you can’t even accept your husband’s love child? What kind of woman are you?"
Selina almost laughed. She hadn’t even touched Angelica—and now this?
So now, being the legal wife meant she had to raise the child of her husband’s mistress? To be a good woman, she had to embrace the affair and play mom to the baby?
Angelica kept crying weakly, voice trembling. "Selina, I just didn’t expect you’d be so cruel... you pushed me... Dad, I lost the baby. I don’t want to live anymore..."
Joe held her and comforted her. "Don’t say that. You’ll have another."
Then he turned to Selina, eyes full of hatred. "Miss Clark, you brought this on yourself. You’ll pay for crossing the Morris family."
A cold male voice cut through the room:
"And what exactly is the price for that, Mr. Morris? Are you suggesting Selina should pay with her life?"
Logan stepped forward, expression frosty, standing firmly in front of Selina, shielding her completely.
He lowered his voice. "Don’t be afraid."
Selina didn’t know how to describe the feeling in her chest—it stung a little, unexpectedly. But no matter what, there was someone standing beside her.
"I’m not afraid," she replied quietly.
Joe gritted his teeth. "Logan, you’re really going to protect her? Angelica was carrying your child! That child is gone now, and you’re shielding the one who caused it?!"
"Hand Selina over, Logan. I don’t think you want the Morris family as an enemy."
Amelia and Grandpa Reid arrived just in time. Amelia’s eyes darted sharply. "Logan, don’t be stupid right now. Look at Selina—she’s ruthless! She’s capable of anything! If she could harm Angelica now, what about in the future?"
Grandpa Reid frowned as well. "Logan, don’t jeopardize the entire Reid family for a woman. Selina hurt Angelica—if the Morris family wants her dead, she’d deserve it!"
Logan stayed calm. "What exactly does Mr. Morris intend to do?"
Joe hesitated. He hadn’t figured that part out yet—he wasn’t about to kill Selina, was he?
Then Grandma Morris’s voice cut through like a knife, cold and vicious:
"Angelica lost her baby. Then let’s make sure Selina can never have one. Let’s just rip out her uterus."
Everyone around them froze, a chill crawling up their spines.
Angelica covered her mouth in tears. Joe felt something was off... but still gave in to her weeping.
"Logan," he growled, "Angelica once saved your life. If you have any conscience left, hand Selina over!"
"Heh."
Logan let out a careless laugh. "So Mr. Morris wants to destroy Selina’s ability to have children... because you all believe she pushed Angelica? And that would be justified retribution?"
Joe exploded. "It absolutely is!!"
Logan’s eyes flashed with ice. His voice was steady, deliberate.
"Then what if... Angelica did it on purpose?"
Did it on purpose? What did that mean—Angelica threw herself down the stairs?
Joe flushed bright red. "That’s absurd! Logan, how can you even say that? Four years ago, Angelica nearly died saving your life—and this is how you repay her?!"
Grandma Morris, Amelia, Grandpa Reid—all glared daggers at Selina, as if silently screaming, Why aren’t you dead yet?
Selina gave a slow, cold smile.
Angelica began sobbing, her voice shaking. "Logan, what are you saying? I was carrying your child! You know how much I wanted that baby!"
"Why would I kill my own child just to frame Selina?! I’m not that heartless!"
Logan’s voice was calm, cutting through the noise. "You picked a perfect spot—no cameras, no foot traffic. So now all we have is your word."
Angelica’s face turned deathly pale.
"And yes," Logan continued, "Reid family never installed surveillance here. But how do you know I didn’t?"
The air snapped silent. What?
Angelica visibly trembled. Surveillance? No—no way! She’d checked this place countless times. There was no camera here.
He’s bluffing, she told herself. He’s just trying to save Selina. There’s no footage. There can’t be!
Biting her lip, she burst into tears. "Logan, I know you don’t believe me. But how can you be sure Selina isn’t lying to you? It’s obvious—she was jealous of me, so—Logan!"
Before she could finish, Logan calmly took out his phone.
Angelica’s pupils dilated. A deep sense of dread washed over her. Her eyes went wide—she blurted out, "Don’t!"
Too late.
The video began playing.
In the footage, Angelica could be seen walking up to Selina. She hadn’t even touched her—when suddenly, she flung herself backward and tumbled dramatically down the stairs.
Then came the next scene: Joe arriving and slapping Selina hard across the face.
