Manaless Mage-Chapter 315: Dragon Wisp
Chapter 315: Chapter 315: Dragon Wisp
Harry’s face squeezed into a frown, and he subconsciously held onto Miranda tighter.
His eyes lit up with a bright blue glint, and he could see the faint outline of one of the hooded figures standing before him with his spear embedded in the ground.
Though his vision was still being obstructed by the darkness, he could still see his opponents by infusing energy in his eyes.
Coupled with his high perception, fighting them wouldn’t be a problem.
However, the problem was Miranda, who was starting to show adverse effects towards the smoke.
And the worst part of it was that, the smoke continued to billow.
It was almost alive—thickening, pulsing, trying to worm its way into every crevice of the forest.
Harry’s brows tightened.
’They’re using this darkness to mask their movements... and weaken the strong. This isn’t just smoke—it’s an enchanted field. Some kind of cursed domain?’
Harry’s gaze snapped forward.
The clearing was still bathed in darkness—but his eyes cut through it now.
And what he saw made him frown deeper.
The masked leader no longer looked human.
The smoke had enveloped him entirely—his frame distorted by writhing shadows. His limbs were longer now, stretched unnaturally. His robe clung to him like a second skin, and from beneath the hood, two red orbs of light glowed like predator eyes in the abyss.
The other cultists were changing too.
Some grew claws, some sprouted tendrils of dark magic from their backs. They twisted and cracked and howled silently into the air—abandoning any semblance of humanity as they gave themselves to the darkness.
’So they’re mutating... feeding off that smoke.’
Harry rose to his feet, standing fully.
His hands flexed once, then slowly crackled with thin arcs of blue lightning.
"What’s wrong? Aren’t you going to attack?" The man who attacked them earlier taunted, raising his spear high in the air.
He had already grown two large horns on his head, along with two shorter ones beneath his jaw.
Four thin, bug-like dark wings were jutting out of his back, fluttering with a loud, disgusting sound.
’How disgusting.’ Harry thought, his face cringing.
Though he couldn’t really see his appearance in full detail, he was still repulsed by the little he saw.
He couldn’t tell whether what he was looking at was meant to be... whether human or mana beast.
But he couldn’t attack just yet, since he still had to protect Miranda from the dark smoke.
’I can try infusing her with my energy... but that would take too much time.’ He thought. ’There’s only one more choice.’
His eyes suddenly lit up with a bright blue glow, however, if one watched closely, they would notice a few streaks of white and gold swirling within that glow.
Swoosh!
A bright white flame suddenly exploded out of his body, instantly spreading across the forest, similar to the darkness from earlier.
Fwoosh!
The white flame rapidly swallowed up the darkness, and by the time it dispersed, there was no sign of the thick dark smoke anymore.
"H-how... is that possible?!!" The leader’s eyes widened, watching in disbelief as one of his most powerful spells was dispelled like it was nothing.
He didn’t even understand what happened, all he saw was a strong gust of wind burst out of Harry’s body, and the next thing he knew, his darkness was no where to be found.
His body was fully revealed to the light, and his gaze met that of Harry, who was staring at him with a disgusted frown.
"How irritating." Harry said, gently placing the unconscious Miranda back on the ground, making sure to cover her in a small dome of energy.
But the dark guild members couldn’t see his energy protecting her, so to them, all he did was place her on the ground.
[New Skill learned!]
[Energy Pulse!]
[Releases a wave of pure energy that instantly nullifies all magical effects within range.]
Harry briefly glanced at the notification floating in front of him, his eyes narrowing slightly.
’I did it... I really did it!’ He thought, letting out a low sigh of relief.
Though releasing such a massive amount of energy took nearly ten percent of his energy pool, he felt it was worth it.
[I didn’t expect you get it on your first actual trial... that took me months to master.]
Leon said, impressed by Harry’s crazy talent.
’Yeah, I already experienced it in your memories, so all I had to do was replicate what I saw.’ Harry replied.
[Nah... it’s never that easy.]
"What are you waiting for?!!" The leader shouted, stretching one of his long, disturbing dark limbs at Harry. "Attack him!! Kill him!!! Bring me his head!!!!"
"Bring it on." Harry said, turning to the bug-like man closest to him.
Buzzz!!
"Die!" The man shouted, his dark wings flapping speedily as he flew towards Harry.
His speed was impressive, a lot faster than before thanks to the wings on his back.
However, before Harry’s strength, it was still a joke.
’Accelerate!’
[Accelerate Activated!]
[+150 Points Temporarily Allocated to Agility!]
A notification instantly flashed before Harry, and he felt his body get lighter.
The bug man roared in anger, swinging his massive spear toward Harry.
Swoosh!
Bang!!
Harry quickly leapt back, the weapon slamming into the dirt just inches from his last position.
"Ugh!" The man grunted, annoyed by Harry’s dodging. "Just stay still... little worm!"
Harry snickered, effortlessly dodging another of his strikes.
"Just stay down, overgrown bug." He said, stretching his hand at the man.
Swoosh!
A thin fire dragon immediately materialized over his palm, looking like it could fizzle out of existence any minute.
Fwoosh!
The dragon wisp immediately shot towards the man at rapid speed, closing in on him within an instant.
The man subconsciously swung his spear at it to deflect it, but contrary to his expectations, the dragon passed through his spear, before sinking into his skin.
"Huh?" He muttered, feeling a strange warmth spread within his body.
The warmth rapidly increased, until the point where it became unbearable, and his eyes widened in shock.
"What the hell... did you do?!!" He shouted, lunging at Harry in anger.
