Manaless Mage-Chapter 270: Like ants before an elephant
Chapter 270: Like ants before an elephant
Kronos’ gaze remained locked on the sky, his eyes wide in disbelief.
"T-the manaless mage... but h-how...?" His muttered, his voice trembling with every word that came out.
His breath hitched in his throaty, and his hands slowly shaking at his sides.
He was certain Leon had been wiped out of this world, so how come he was back... and so fast at that?
With his huge experience pool, there was no way he could have made a mistake while casting the spell, which caused it to fail.
So how the hell could he still feel his energy, radiating with an enormous amount of power?!
The energy pouring from Leon was simply too overwhelming, and even from this distance, Kronos could feel it deep in his bones.
The energy was raging furiously through the sky like a wild flame, painting it with a radiant white light.
For normal humans, all they would see were the clouds roaring in anger, due to the fact that they could neither see nor sense the energy of a manaless mage.
However, even them would be able to feel the huge amount of power in the air.
The sheer intensity of him made him feel fear, and an old memory he had already submerged deep within resurfaced back, causing him to gnash his teeth in annoyance.
Leon wasn’t just alive... he was back with many times more powerful than before!
"Kronos...?" Vordmont’s voice was soft and feeble as he turned to the grey-haired celestial beside him.
His expression was twisted into a deep frown, mixed in with shock.
He needed to know how this was possible, so he subconsciously turned to the one with the most knowledge about such matters between them.
However, Kronos who was usually so confident and in control, was silent, acting like he didn’t even notice his gaze.
The celestial’s brows twitched in confusion, with his hands clenched into a tight fist.
Seeing the expression on his face, Vordmont’s thought went back to the happenings that brought them here.
He had never fully agreed with Kronos’ plan from the moment he found out.
There had always been something gnawing at his mind, telling him they were be making a huge mistake... that something was very wrong with everything.
However, he didn’t pay attention to it, only brushing those thoughts to the back of his mind.
After all, Kronos had never been wrong about situations like this before, so he felt there was no need to doubt him.
But now, seeing the power swirling in the skies, Vordmont was filled with regret. He should have listened to his instincts.
Rather than letting Kronos wipe off his existence, he should have just killed him with his hands.
He tightly clenched the spear in his hands, his gaze turning back to the energy roaring before him.
Although he liked to fight against stronger opponents, he knew his limits, and whatever Leon had become was far above his limits.
A part of him wanted to charge straight at him, however, he found his body frozen in fear, unable to do anything.
’I’m doomed.’ He thought, his lips curling into a wry smile.
"He... came back?" Orthon’s voice suddenly pierced through their ears, taking away their attention for a brief moment.
The celestial slowly emerged from a strip of dark shadow beneath Vordmont’s collar.
The shadow extended out, rapidly forming into a humanoid shape beside Vordmont.
After the shadows dissipated, it revealed an ink-black man with snowy white hair, staring off into the skies.
He could also feel the powerful energy roaring within the skies, causing the shadow wisps coiling around his body to tremble in fear.
"How... terrifying." He muttered, narrowing his eyes at the sight of Leon’s power.
His expression rapidly twisted into an ugly one, the reality of the situation slowly sinking in.
"This is the worst of the worst, we need to lea—"
Crack!!
Before Kronos could even complete his sentence, a thick black crack suddenly tore through the space in front of them, sucking all three of them in with tremendous force.
’Space element?!!’ Vordmont’s eyes widened in shock as he was dragged into the crack.
Orthon quickly tried escaping, conjuring a pair of shadow winds behind him.
However, he had barely moved an inch, before he was also pulled into the spatial crack, vanishing without a trace.
Their surroundings immediately shifted, and they found themselves floating before a familiar figure, whose body was bathed in a blinding white light.
"Damn it..." Kronos muttered, his body shuddering as he stared at the fully white eyes of Leon, fear gripping him tighter with each passing second.
If before they thought the pressure on them was a lot, standing before him simply made it unbearable!
It felt like a couple of giant mountains were stacked ruthlessly above their shoulders, placing intense pressure on their minds.
They could barely breathe, and even their mana wasn’t listening to any of their commands.
It subconsciously shrunk back in fear, with their mana core trembling violently, cracks slowly appearing on its surface.
The mana core of celestials couldn’t be compared to that of normal mages or Elementalists.
Unlike normal mages who just had a ’mana core’, theirs were many levels higher, upgraded to something called a ’celestial core’.
However, they both still basically performed the same functions, which was storing mana for its user. The one within Celestials was just had a far wider scope, and could also withhold a lot more power.
But still, the celestial core within each of them was greatly strained under the overwhelming pressure oozing from Leon.
The weight of being before his power was suffocating, pressing down against them with such intensity that they could barely manage to stay afloat.
This was enough proof of the huge difference in strength between them and Leon; they were as insignificant as ants before an elephant.
If they were normal mages, their mana core would have shattered long ago under such pressure, rendering them forever powerless.
However, even with their superior power, they were faring much better against Leon’s pressure.
"M-manaless mage..." Vordmont mumbled, his voice trembling weakly as he spoke.
Since there was no way for him to fight back against Leon anymore, he had long resigned to whatever fate awaited him.
As for Orthon, the frown on his face kept deepening in frustration, feeling regret that he didn’t manage to escape sooner.
But unfortunately, it was too late to have regrets now.
"Why are you all looking like that?" Leon suddenly said, his voice echoing across the sky with authority.
"Don’t tell me... you planned on leaving without finishing what you started?" He asked, his like curling into a slight smirk.
The mere sound of his voice caused the pressure on them to increase exponentially, and their faces contorted in agony.
"H-how...?" Orthon muttered, weakly forcing the words out of his mouth. His dark skin was pale from the strain and sweat kept rolling down his face like water.
However, he gnashed his teeth and endured the pain, looking straight into Leon’s eyes.
Despite being in a terrible situation, he still refused to show any weakness.
Leon’s gaze turned cold at his question, and he stared down at the celestial, his eyes narrowing slightly.
"Don’t ask... just die." He said, suddenly snapping his fingers.
Crack!
Cracks began to appear on Orthon’s face, quickly spreading across his body.
A bright white light seeped from within the crack, and the celestial’s face twisted in horror as the cracks deepened. ƒreewebɳovel.com
"Arrgh!!" Orthon screamed out in agony. It felt like his soul was getting torn apart from within, and his eyes widened unable to bear the pain.
The cracks spread further, weaving across his body, until the parts could no longer hold themselves together.
Shatter!
In the next instant, Orthon’s body shattered into tiny white fragments, which floated quietly in the air.
There was no blood, no gory sight of shattered organs or torn flesh. His body simply crumbled apart like fragile glass, the remnants of his existence being those tiny pieces.
Kronos and Vordmont could only watch in horror as their colleague was effortlessly reduced to nothing before them.
With just a snap of his fingers, a powerful celestial fell in the face of Leon’s power.
They couldn’t help but imagine that it was them in his place, and their hearts sunk deeper into despair.
"O-orthon..." Vordmont muttered, staring at the white fragments floating around in fear.
"Hmm..." Leon let out a low hum, stretching his hands towards the white particles.
Swoosh!
Like iron to magnet, the remnant pieces were immediately sucked into his palm, blending with the white flame shrouding his body.
"Now that’s one pest taken care off... remaining only two." He muttered, his gaze drifting back to Kronos and Vordmont.
The two celestials subconsciously gritted their teeth in annoyance, feeling completely helpless before him.
’This is bad... very bad...’ Kronos thought, tightly clenching his fist to the point his knuckles paled.
With the current turn of things, they wouldn’t even be able to preserve their lives until the next day, talk less of keeping any stupid balance!
’M-move... just anything!’ Vordmont thought, his hands shaking uncontrollably as he weakly gripped his spear.
The weapon in his hands was a powerful one; a spear that he had used many times to take down opponents more powerful than him.
However, it had now being reduced to nothing more than a useless pole... with its wielder being too terrified to even use it.
Snap!
Leon suddenly snapped his fingers once more, and just like Orthon, cracks started appearing all over Vordmont skin.
The cracks spread a lot faster this time, and before he could even let out a scream, his body shattered into pieces.
With that, two celestials had already died in Leon’s hands... leaving only Kronos.
