Manaless Mage-Chapter 240: Leon Ainsworth[2]
Chapter 240: Leon Ainsworth[2]
Due to him not having an affinity, he was bullied numerous times by the Elementalists in his class.
Although he wasn’t the only one in the academy without an affinity, he was the only one without a mana core foundation.
Fortunately, his parents quickly intervened, withdrawing him out of the academy dorms before the situation got even worse.
They also complained furiously to the academy’s authorities, using their power to their advantage.
However, that still didn’t curb it completely.
There were still a few students who kept bullying him; talented Elementalists whose parents had even more influence than his.
Since the academy never really considered him a student, they ignored most of the bullying.
No matter how many times he complained, they turned a blind eye, advising him to withdraw if life at the academy was that unbearable.
His parents also gave him the same advice, and tried transferring him to another academy.
However, he vehemently refused, claiming he would rather remain in the magical academy.
Naturally, this caused an argument between them, which resulted in their current rift.
For some reason, Harry understood his decision, despite how stupid it might seem to any other person.
They were both similar, in the fact that they would never be able to form a mana core.
However, Leon wasn’t willing to give up on his dreams despite that.
’Unlike me, who was totally crushed by that revelation... he still believes in himself.’ Harry thought. ’We’re quite similar, yet so different.’
"Hmph..." Leon let out a light scoff, running his hands through his hair once more.
His fingers gently brushed the bruise on his forehead as he did so, and his brows furrowed into a deep frown.
His gaze lingered on the wound for a few seconds, but he simply shrugged his shoulders, walking back to his bed instead.
"Drop out of the academy huh... like hell I’ll do that." He muttered, slumping back on the soft surface of his bed.
’Not having mana doesn’t make me weak, just special. No one understands that...’ He thought, a strange glint flashing across his eyes.
He suddenly sat back up, crossing his legs over themselves in a lotus position.
’It’s time to see how much ’its’ grown...’ He thought, his lips slowly curling into a smug smirk.
Harry didn’t understand what he meant by that, but he didn’t ponder over it too much, as he was sure to find out soon enough.
Leon slowly closed his eyes, cutting off all forms of distraction from his mind as he entered into a state of full concentration.
By watching his actions alone, Harry already had a good idea of what he wanted to do, however, he was still a little confused.
After a few minutes of concentrating inside his body, a small white flame suddenly lit up within Leon’s chest, causing his brows to twitch in joy.
He focused even more on the bright white flame burning within his chest, gently swaying it to the sides, channeling it through his torso.
Meanwhile, Harry watched in surprise, as Leon slowly channeled his energy through his body.
Although a part of him had expected something like this, he hadn’t expected that Leon would be able to harness his energy this early.
After all, the only way he discovered his own energy was through the system.
Nonetheless, he simply decided to watch, and see what would happen next.
After a few minutes, Leon finally succeeded in harnessing a tiny bit of the energy through his arms, relishing in the warm sensation brought about by it.
His lips slowly curled into a slight smile, as memories of the day he discovered this white flame resurfaced in his mind.
Ever since he was told he could never become an Elementalist... that his mana foundation was completely shattered, he had been immersing himself into meditation.
He found it hard to accept his condition, that he was cursed to remain weak forever.
So he did the only thing he could do... meditating at every chance he could get, in order to prove every one wrong and show that he could still become an Elementalist.
At first it was fruitless, as all he saw within his mind was darkness and emptiness.
But it all changed one day, when he suddenly noticed a bright white flame flickering violently within his chest.
Establishing a connection with that flame was very difficult at the start, as he would frequently lose concentration, thereby losing sight of the white flame.
But after a lot of trials and failures, he was finally able to form a stable connecting with the flame.
And with even more practice, he learned how to slowly move it around his body.
He still didn’t understand what the white flame was, or why he had it, but he was sure that was what made him special... what made him different from the others.
He might not have mana, but at least he had his flame, and he would make sure to cultivate it properly so it would become more powerful.
While he was still playing around with his energy, he suddenly noticed a small green orb floating beside the energy.
’What is that?’ He thought, his expression twisting into a slight frown.
It felt somewhat familiar to the white energy, and at the same time different.
’Could it be...?!’ His eyes immediately widened at the thought.
Without wasting anytime, he quickly channeled a tiny bit of his energy through the strange green orb.
The moment the white flame passed through the green orb, it took on a bright green colour, and the speed at which it moved doubled within an instant.
Though surprised at the unexpected change, Leon didn’t let that break his concentration, and he swiftly redirected the now green energy into his arm.
After a few trials, he was finally able to channel it outside of his body, and the energy suddenly took the shape of a small green clock which hovered above his palm.
"What... is this?" Leon muttered, slowly opening his eyes in surprise.
The clock looked very ancient, and it seemed more like an alarm clock with the two tiny green caps hovering at the sides.
Strangely enough, the clock wasn’t showing any time. Its hands were stiff and except from the light green smoke slowly oozing out of it, its surface was completely blank.
"A clock?" Leon mumbled, his brows twisting into a deep frown. "Out of everything... one thing I didn’t expect was a clock."
Swoosh!
Suddenly, the green smoke oozing out of the clock stirred violently, before erupting in a small shockwave, which lightly swept across the room.
"What was that supposed to mean?" Leon mumbled, staring back at the clock hovering above his palm.
It was then that he noticed the large, get transparent green ball floating around the clock, and his eyes widened in surprise.
Green energy slowly swirled around his body, filling him with a strange yet thrilling sensation.
"Could this be... my element?" He said in awe, relishing in the power coursing through his body.
Unbeknownst to him, his lips curled into a smug smirk.
He didn’t know why, but he felt invincible... like there was nothing in the world beyond his control.
