Make Me Moan Mr Therapist.-Chapter 28: A dangerous game.
"What do you mean he wants to live under your roof now?" Damien’s voice exploded through the speaker, sharp with disbelief and outrage. Even over the phone, Alex could almost picture his friend’s wide-eyed expression and frantic pacing.
"Fine," Damien continued, his voice rising. "I said you could sleep with him if you wanted, seduce him, snatch him away from that monster he calls a husband but you haven’t even done that yet! And for heaven’s sake, Alex, he’s still married! Not divorced! You’re about to put yourself in the middle of a scandal that’ll blow up right in your face."
He didn’t stop there. "And do I need to remind you that his husband knows you personally? The moment he finds out Gabe is living with you, he’ll make your life a living hell! Fine, you’re stronger than him I know that. You’re an enigma, Alex. You could crush him if you wanted to. But do you really want to reveal what you are to the world right now? You hate the spotlight, remember? What do you think people will say when they find out a therapist took in his married patient?"
Alex sighed, leaning back in the chair and rubbing his temple as if Damien’s words were giving him an actual headache. "Which question do you want me to answer exactly, Damien?" he asked dryly, his tone laced with irritation.
"All of them!" Damien barked, panting into the phone as though pacing restlessly. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
Alex rolled his eyes, scratching the back of his ear impatiently. "You know what..." he muttered, cutting him off mid-breath. "I’m not bringing him to my mansion, alright? That’s too risky."
He exhaled heavily, already making up his mind. "Just set up one of my other houses....a quiet one. Somewhere a little far from my office but still within reach. Get it furnished and ready. I’ll forward the address of this place to you so you can come pick us up once it’s done."
"Alex wait, hold on...." Damien began, but before he could finish, Alex ended the call abruptly. He tossed his phone onto the sofa with a frustrated sigh, pinched the bridge of his nose, and muttered under his breath, "I really hope I don’t regret this."
Without wasting another second, he turned and headed up the stairs to check on Gabe.
The door creaked softly as he pushed it open. The scent of antiseptic mixed faintly with the clean scent of the ointment he’d left earlier. Gabe was sitting on the bed, his head slightly bowed, the soft glow of the bedside lamp illuminating his pale face.
"You’re back," Gabe said, a warm almost shy smile curving his lips.
Alex froze for a second, because the sight before him nearly knocked the air from his lungs. Gabe was in the middle of applying ointment to his bruised length, his fingers trembling slightly with each touch. The intimate sight sent heat rushing up Alex’s neck, his face flushing red instantly. He swallowed hard and quickly turned his gaze away, staring determinedly at the wall instead.
"I actually wanted to talk to you," Gabe added softly, still focused on what he was doing.
"Oh... really?" Alex cleared his throat, his voice rougher than he intended. "And what exactly do you want to talk about?" He raised a brow, trying and failing to sound unaffected.
Gabe didn’t seem to notice. He carefully tucked himself back into his trousers, straightening his clothes before glancing back at Alex. By then, Alex had cautiously moved closer and sat down beside the bed, keeping a careful distance between them.
Meanwhile, on the floor, Sabe remained unconscious. The punch Alex had delivered earlier had knocked him out cold. Just to be certain, Alex had injected him with a mild sedative something strong enough to keep him asleep until the next day. He hadn’t bothered dragging him to his room. Instead, he’d left the man sprawled on the floor where he fell, an almost poetic justice for the chaos he had caused.
"I’m sorry," Gabe began suddenly, his tone serious but oddly detached, as though his words were rehearsed. "I’ve been thinking about what happened between us earlier... and I realized it was wrong. Completely wrong."
Alex turned his gaze toward him silently, his expression unreadable.
"I shouldn’t have kissed you," Gabe continued, lowering his eyes. "And I shouldn’t have grabbed you the way I did. I know you only reacted because I... I touched you first." His voice faltered slightly. "I’m sorry for that. I don’t know what came over me."
He took a slow breath before speaking again, his cheeks faintly flushed. "I just felt... hot. My body felt like it was on fire, and kissing you...letting you touch me was the only thing that made me calm again. I’m not trying to justify it. I know you’re my therapist, and I made you cross a line you shouldn’t have crossed. I’m sorry if I made you break your rules."
When he finished, he bowed his head slightly, his tone tinged with sadness, his fingers twisting the edge of the blanket nervously.
Alex just stared at him for a long, silent moment, his lips curving into a small, almost invisible smirk.
Oh really? he thought, his inner voice laced with sarcasm. You’re sorry, huh? Then why does it sound like you’re proud of what happened?
He leaned back slightly, studying Gabe’s face, the faint pink on his cheeks, the glint in his eyes that didn’t quite match the remorse in his words. No, Alex thought, a low chuckle rumbling in his chest that he quickly suppressed. This isn’t guilt. This is satisfaction hidden behind an apology.
He averted his gaze, sighing quietly to himself. You’re good, Gabe. Very good. You play innocent so well. You touch, then retreat. Seduce, then pretend you didn’t mean to. You want me to believe you’re confused but I can see the game you’re playing.
Still, he didn’t voice any of those thoughts aloud. Instead, he gave a calm, measured nod, masking his thoughts behind his usual professional composure.
"It’s fine," he finally said softly, his voice low and steady. "Let’s just focus on making sure you’re okay."
But inside, his mind was anything but calm.
If I’m not careful, he thought grimly, this game will destroy both of us.
