Make France Great Again-Chapter 858 - 849: The Big Fish
After Felix Soto left, Marcel Yale called in his secretary and ordered him to bring over the man who was previously in the office.
A while later, the man appeared in front of Marcel Yale, curious as to why he was called over.
Marcel Yale told the man the intelligence Felix Soto had obtained, and the man showed a similarly surprised expression, then remarked, "Our organization really is teeming with talent!"
"I didn’t call you here to marvel!" Marcel Yale said sternly to the man, "Immediately use your undercover networks to verify the authenticity of this information!"
"Understood!" The man also put on a serious expression, waved his hand at Marcel Yale and replied, "Just wait for my good news!"
...
Later that night, the man brought news to Marcel Yale.
"The telegram from London indeed instructed Ambassador Kaotz to find a way to inquire about the destination of our fleet leaving France recently!" the man said to Marcel Yale.
"I see!" Marcel Yale got a better grasp on Felix Soto’s news.
"However, my people didn’t manage to discover what method Ambassador Kaotz plans to use to achieve his goal!" the man continued to tell Marcel Yale.
"Are you saying the intelligence isn’t accurate?" Marcel Yale asked the man.
The man shrugged his shoulders, shook his head and said to Marcel Yale, "No, I actually think this information is very accurate!"
"Why?" Marcel Yale asked in confusion.
"Dean Marcel, tonight I specifically sent someone near the British Embassy and found their military officer sneaking out at midnight!" the man hinted to Marcel Yale, licking his upper lip.
Marcel Yale reluctantly walked to the desk, opened a drawer and took out an exquisite gift box, which contained Havana cigars from the Spanish colony of Cuba.
"For you! I haven’t smoked a single one!" Marcel Yale handed the cigar box to the man.
The man looked at Marcel Yale in disbelief and said, "Really, all for me?"
"Yes!" Marcel Yale nodded to the man, "Consider yourself lucky! This was originally a gift from Your Majesty to me, and I couldn’t bring myself to smoke one!"
"A gift from Your Majesty!" The man’s face immediately lit up with a radiant smile, he quickly opened the box, pulled out a cigar, then vigorously sniffed it at his nostrils, showing a look of intoxication and said to Marcel Yale, "I have to admit, this is truly a fine Havana cigar!"
If someday Your Majesty could conquer Havana, I would definitely lead by example!"
"Stop spouting nonsense! Havana is Spain’s territory!" Marcel Yale responded to the man.
"Spain! What’s wrong with Spain!" The man defiantly retorted, "Spain once relied on us to suppress a rebellion! Next time, we’ll demand they cede it during a rebellion!"
"Enough! Stop with this nonsense!" Marcel Yale immediately interrupted the man, "Keep saying what you have to!"
The man had no choice but to continue, "The military officer cautiously entered an opera house, then a box to converse!"
"Besides him, who else was in the box?" Marcel Yale impatiently asked the man.
"I don’t know!" The man shrugged his shoulders in response to Marcel Yale.
"You..." Marcel Yale wanted nothing more than to throw this unreliable subordinate out.
"Don’t worry! Give me a few days and I can find out who was in the box!" the man confidently told Marcel Yale.
Marcel Yale held up one finger and said to the man, "One day, I’m giving you just one day! You need to quickly find out who had contact with the military officer!"
"Alright!" The man nodded and replied to Marcel Yale.
The next afternoon, the man appeared in Marcel Yale’s office to report, "I’ve found out!"
"Who is it?" Marcel Yale quickly asked the man.
"A clerk from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, seems to be named Eugene Napp!" the man replied slowly to Marcel Yale, "Should we arrest him now?"
"Better not!" Marcel Yale shook his head at the man and said, "He’s just an insignificant pawn! I believe there’s someone important behind him!
However, I must head to the Tuileries Palace!"
After speaking, Marcel Yale tidied his clothes to prepare to go to the Tuileries Palace and meet Jerome Bonaparte.
"Then I’m leaving!" Seeing this, the man also left Marcel Yale’s room.
After organizing, Marcel Yale left the National Intelligence Bureau through the back door and, after walking for a while, arrived at a stop sign.
Standing at the stop sign, Marcel Yale quietly waited for quite some time until a double-decker carriage appeared before him.
This was the public carriage co-invested by the Pereire Brothers, and each person only needed to spend around 3–6 centimes to ride it and tour all of Paris.
Of course, no one could have imagined that someone with authority comparable to a minister would ride a public carriage like an ordinary person.
The carriage took Marcel Yale all the way to the Champs-Élysées, where he disembarked and walked again to the gardens outside the Tuileries Palace.
When Marcel Yale arrived at the gate of the Tuileries Palace, he immediately put on the badge that he had in his pocket, which had the letters gqb engraved on it.
Upon seeing Marcel Yale’s badge, the two soldiers acted as if they could not see him and did not stop him.
Successfully entering the courtyard of the Tuileries Palace, Marcel Yale entered the inside of the palace through a door that never attracted much attention.
After receiving the news of Marcel Yale’s arrival, the Royal Chief Steward Bashirio quickly greeted him.
"Mr. Marcel Yale, you’ve arrived!" Bashirio respectfully said to Marcel Yale.
"Your Majesty, where is he now?" Marcel Yale responded.
"His Majesty is currently in a routine meeting, which will likely take an hour to conclude! If it is not urgent, may I ask if you could wait?" Bashirio asked Marcel Yale.
"I can!" Marcel Yale nodded and replied to Bashirio.
Subsequently, Bashirio led Marcel Yale to the study.
An hour later, Jerome Bonaparte appeared before Marcel Yale and said, "Sorry to keep you waiting!"
Marcel Yale then engaged in formal conversation with Jerome Bonaparte.
Marcel Yale first informed Jerome Bonaparte about the British spies discovered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to which Jerome Bonaparte gave a slight cold smile and said, "I didn’t expect! My Ministry of Foreign Affairs would have Britons! I really don’t know what Valvesky is doing!"
"Your Majesty, Minister Valvesky might not be aware!" Marcel Yale defended Valvesky.
"What exactly do those Britons want to find out?" Jerome Bonaparte again questioned Marcel Yale.
Marcel Yale relayed the information he knew to Jerome Bonaparte, and upon hearing it, Jerome Bonaparte’s face showed a look of puzzlement, "Why is Britain inquiring about these?"
"We have yet to grasp the reason Britain is asking for this information!" Marcel Yale replied, "Your Majesty, please pardon my inquiry, where is our fleet headed?"
"To Gabon!" Jerome Bonaparte replied without hesitation, "I asked Jerome Patterson to take 5,000 Croatians to Gabon, of course, we need to deploy the fleet for protection!"
Upon hearing Jerome Bonaparte’s answer, Marcel Yale also showed a trace of embarrassment, as he originally thought the Emperor dispatching the fleet was for something significant, which is why Britain would be alerted.
Unexpectedly, it was just to send Governor Jerome Patterson to Gabon!
Marcel Yale suddenly felt it was somewhat undeserving for Britain.
"Your Majesty, who have you told about this?" Marcel Yale asked Jerome Bonaparte again.
"This doesn’t seem to be a matter worth making a fuss about!" Jerome Bonaparte shrugged.
Subsequently, Jerome Bonaparte asked Marcel Yale how he planned to handle the traitor.
Marcel Yale hoped Jerome Bonaparte could patiently wait, as he believed there were still bigger fish to catch.
"Alright! I await your good news!" Jerome Bonaparte nodded and replied to Marcel Yale.
In the days following Marcel Yale’s departure, Jerome Bonaparte continued to await his arrival.
However, instead of Marcel Yale, it was his cousin Prince Pierre Bonaparte who arrived.
As an Imperial Senator, Pierre Bonaparte appeared before Jerome Bonaparte, who asked in surprise, "Cousin Pierre, what brings you here!"
Pierre Bonaparte respectfully responded to Jerome Bonaparte, "Your Majesty! If you don’t welcome me, I’ll leave immediately!" 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
"Of course you are welcome! Please, have a seat!" Jerome Bonaparte invited Pierre Bonaparte to sit.
Then Jerome Bonaparte engaged in conversation with Pierre Bonaparte.
During their conversation, Pierre Bonaparte intentionally or unintentionally brought up Jerome Patterson to subtly suggest that Jerome Bonaparte should treat all members of the House of Bonaparte equally with due respect.
