Magus Bloodlines.-Chapter 37 - 36 Waking up.
Chapter 37 - 36 Waking up.
Gavin woke up later in the evening, on the same day Erza arrived. His head was throbbing as he opened his eyes and let out a curse. Having been unconscious for the past few days, his eyes were overly sensitive to light upon waking up. He quickly shut his eyes and tried to sit up as he heard a cry of surprise from his right. After the sound, he heard some movement and a chair scooting back.
He gritted his teeth as he blinked his eyes open in rapid succession, trying to get his eyes adjusted to the brightness. "Oh crap, hang on," the feminine voice said, and Gavin heard movement before the lights dimmed low. "There that should be better," she said as Gavin slowly opened his eyes and blinked through the blurry vision. It took a few minutes of blinking and rubbing his eyes for his vision to clear.
Standing off to his right as she walked back towards his bed was a short girl with blue hair standing up in small spikes. "Evening sleepy head. You gave all of us a worry," she said with a small smile on her face. She stood there with hands on her hips as she glared at him.
Gavin noticed there was no true anger or hatred in that withering, ball-shriveling glare. Only concern for his well-being, it appears. "Sorry Helena, I seem to have overdone it a bit back there," Gavin said as he winced and rubbed his thigh. The pain was still there in his leg from that gunshot wound. He pulled back the blanket and hospital gown from his legs to check the bright pink scar that had been formed where he was shot.
"Hold on, I'll go let the others know you're awake. Just a heads-up, it's a crowd," she said as she left the room.
Who would all be waiting? He wasn't surprised about Helena after discovering she was a werewolf shifter. Maybe Jackson would be out there driving everyone insane. But who else would be that concerned about him here to be waiting in a hospital lobby? Gavin wondered as he sat in bed waiting to see who his visitors were.
"Gavin!" Multiple voices called out as several people rushed into the room. Jackson, Helena, Principal Shepard all rushed into the room. These people Gavin expected to come visit. But the fact that Professor Jason, Bradley and Stephanie also walked in blew his mind by surprise. Lastly, Erza walked in behind everyone else, having finally calmed down her fear and anger.
"Erza!" Gavin called out happily, although the look on her face made his man bits shrivel up inside.
"What the? Why are all of you here?" Gavin asked. He was stunned by the number of people that were now standing around in his recovery room. He glanced at Erza and asked "How are you here? How'd you even know?" He was puzzled as to how Erza would have found out, and been able to get back to the city. Just how long was he out of it anyway?
"I called and spoke with her after you passed out. She wouldn't stop blowing your phone up," his grandfather said in answer to his last question. He stepped forward to look over his medical data and charts as Gavin looked around the gathered group of people.
Erza just kept up her glare as her eyes twitched in annoyance and said nothing. Her hands were on her hips as she just glared at him. Her eyes even glowed faintly yellow. Oh ya, Gavin thought, she's pissed.
"Oh yeah? Thanks Principal Shepard," Gavin said appreciatively. Although judging from her angry look, he wasn't sure how appreciative he was at the moment. In fact, he felt like he needed a few layers of enhanced magical grade body armor on just to survive the next few minutes.
Jackson walked over and gave him a fist bump. "You idiot! You were told no hero business," he said as he glared at Gavin in bed. They were supposed to be roommates and a team. Yet he got left behind during the battle and Gavin went off on his own to be the big hero and save the day. So not fair.
"Yeah well, things got complicated quickly. I thought if I had taken out those two that seemed to be the leaders, then maybe the attack would stop," Gavin said defensively as he closed his hands into fists in his lap. "Obviously, I failed," he said as he thought back to the battle and the trap he was stuck in.
"Not true son," Principal Shepard spoke from the back. "You bought enough time for myself and others to return and finish the fight. The blonde-haired man is dead, and the rest ran out or were killed in the resulting chaos," Principal Shepard informed Gavin.
"So no, you did not fail in your mission. Rather, you and young Helena succeeded quite brilliantly as a matter of fact," Principal Shepard said as he congratulated both the students on a job well done.
Gavin looked over to see Helena. She had a few bruises on her face and some bandages around her arms, but nothing major seemed to be injured. "Are you alright?" Gavin asked her, concerned that he didn't protect her enough during the fight.
Helena gave a toothy grin as she nodded. "Just some bumps and bruises. You took the brunt of their attacks," she said as she waved off his concern.
Gavin looked behind everyone and noticed a faintly yellow glow in Erza's amber eyes that was never a good sign. "Could you guys give me a moment with Erza?" Gavin asked quietly. He wanted to spend a few minutes alone with her, and he was sure she was going to be yelling at him.
"Come on everyone. Let the lovebirds have a moment," Principal Shepard said as he ushered everyone out of the room. Bradley walked over and gave Gavin a surprising fist bump.
"I want a rematch sometime, without you holding back," Bradley said with a sheepish grin on his face.
Gavin laughed as he sensed a feeling of maybe respect from Bradley after everything that happened. "Yeah, maybe," Gavin said as he bumped his fist back.
Everyone quietly walked out after that, leaving Erza and Gavin in the room alone.
"Go ahea-" Gavin started to say before he was interrupted by a vicious slap across the face from Erza.
The pain from the impact made him see stars as his vision blurred momentarily. "You jerk. You promised me you wouldn't do anything stupid and reckless!" Erza yelled at him. She was beyond furious that once again she had to wait in a hospital room. For him to regain consciousness because he overworked himself.
Once Gavin's vision was cleared, the first thing he noticed was tears flowing down her rosey cheeks. Her shoulders were rocking with her silent sobs as she glared at him, her eyes glowing vibrant yellow and her iris was slit like a cat's eye. She was beyond emotional and scared.
Gavin said nothing but opened her arms to her. She choked back a sob and ran into his arms. Gavin let out a loud "oof" as she collided on the bed with him. She sobbed quietly as he stroked her red hair and apologized over and over for getting hurt in the battle. "I'm sorry I made you worry. Things happened so quickly there wasn't much time for planning or adjusting a plan," Gavin said as he kissed the top of her forehead. She harmlessly pounded her fists on his chest as he talked to her and her body shook in his arms.
"Doesn't matter, you jerk. You are my heart. When you're in a hospital bed, not responding or waking up, how do you think that makes me feel?" She demanded from him as she sat on top of his lap, straddling his hips as she looked down on him. Her long hair fell like a curtain around their faces. The faint yellow glow from her eyes illuminated both her faces hidden by the waterfall of red hair.
Gavin knew better, but he smiled at her anyway. "I know I suck. But at least people are safe," he whispered as he reached up to brush a tear away from her cheek. He gently cupped her cheek in his warm hand as he stroked and removed the tears that silently flowed.
Erza sucked her breath in as she looked down at him. She felt something hard brush against her inner thighs and decided that the others could wait for a while. She needed this time alone with him. Her heart and emotions were all over the place. This felt so much different than the first time he was injured in a hospital room waiting to wake up. She didn't know what it was or why she felt this desperate, sudden urge, but she would ask questions later.
She leaned down and kissed him suddenly. This wasn't a normal kiss. There was something primal and deeper behind it. Gavin wrapped his arms around her and returned the kiss with equal passion. The monitor equipment began beeping at a faster pace as Gavin got more and more excited.
She adjusted her position to sink down on him more intimately, which caused a groan to escape both of them. This was new territory for both of them. She ground her hips against him, enjoying the hard firmness beneath her hips. The way his soft lips claimed hers and fought for control. It was driving her instincts into overdrive as she kissed him.
Gavin pulled back breathlessly as he cupped her cheek and looked at her lovingly. "What about everyone outside?" He asked her breathlessly. His eyes were glowing a faint red as he looked up at her. He had to try and retain some sense of reason, but he was so close to throwing caution to the wind and just letting this happen here and now.
She began to pull his hospital gown up and growled out, "forget them." She wasn't going to be stopped now. She needed him in the worst kind of way at that moment. She pulled his hospital gown up and rubbed her hands over his chest as she kissed him feverishly. It was like something inside her demanded to claim him after seeing the other females that came to check on him. Her jealously and self-doubts went through the roof at the thought of what his relationship was with these girls. Her heart and mind wouldn't listen to reason at the moment.
He began running his hands from her hips up to her chest, just as hungry as she was to finally have this moment together. The machine was beeping dangerously fast as he got more excited and Erza growled before reaching over and unplugging the machine. She went back to attacking his face with hungry kisses, sliding her tongue against his as he cupped and fondled her over her shirt. God why didn't she wear a dress or skirt today? The fabric of her clothes felt hot and blocked his access to her body. She was desperate to feel him, to have him feel every inch of her body as she kissed him feverishly.
Just as Gavin began to lift her shirt, the door opened and a stream of nurses came running in only to stop the moment they entered the room. Their faces frozen in shock and mouths left wide open. A dark blush crept over their faces as they noticed their intimate, if not compromising, position on the hospital bed.
Gavin swore and tried grabbing the blanket to cover them from sight as he growled and blushed profusely at having been caught.
To make matters worse, Principal Shepard and the others came rushing in right behind and witnessed what was going on.
"Oh god-damn it man," Gavin said with a sigh as so many people interrupted the moment he had with Erza. Now he was sore, exhausted, and had blue balls. What else could go wrong? He thought to himself.
Gavin felt utter embarrassment as everyone rushed in to see Erza straddling his hips and in the process of stripping him down. Jackson let out an impressive whistle as the girls turned red with faces blushing as they looked away.
Principal Shepard let out a disappointed sigh as he pushed all the visitors out of the room while the nurses chastised the two of them and plugged the monitor equipment back in, making sure all the sensors and leads were still connected properly.
"Sorry," Erza mumbled out a meek apology as the nurses glared at her. She wasn't sorry at what she did. She was sorry they got interrupted and caught.
"Sorry doesn't cut it. He should be resting, not getting his heart rate high," the head nurse chastised the red-headed woman. She couldn't believe that these two were about to get intimate here in the hospital after he had just regained consciousness.

Erza sighed and hung her head in shame as she nodded obediently. "Yes ma'am," she said as she pulled Gavin's gown back down and tried to maintain some dignity as she climbed off his hospital bed. She made sure that she didn't hurt him further as she climbed off.
"Any more actions like that, and you won't be allowed back in," she said sternly as she wagged a finger at Erza. She doubted her threat would do any good, but she had to make the consequences known.
"That goes for you. Any more childish behavior and you won't be allowed any more visitors," she said as she directed a glare towards Gavin.
Gavin raised his hands defensively as he pulled the blanket over his lap, attempting to hide some obvious discomfort her had growing there. "Hey, she started mauling me, not the other way around," Gavin said as he deliberately threw Erza under the bus. She shot him a dirty glare from behind the nurse but decided to keep her mouth shut as the nurses left the room.
Principal Shepard sighed as he walked over and looked at Gavin, "How are you doing, really?" he asked his grandson, concerned about his mental state. Principal Shepard had seen the sheer number of bodies that littered the arena floor. By Helena's own admission, he knew over half of them were caused by Gavin.
Gavin said nothing as he laid back against the mattress. He was trying to process everything that happened during the battle. He had taken lives once again with his own hands. He lost count of just how many he had killed at the arena.
Thirty enemy soldiers were killed back in the arena, master Gavin. Veronica's voice, normally a soothing presence in Gavin's mind, only caused him more stress and anguish. So, he had killed thirty-two people now and he wasn't even nineteen. Just how many more bodies would his claws rip through? How many more times must he kill, in order to complete this task by the god?
Gavin remained silent as he ignored his grandfather's question. His thoughts were racing from one cruel reality to another as he remembered every single person he cut down during the attack. Yes, he knew it was in defense of the other students that were weaker or unaware of the trials of battle. Yes, they would have died had he not been there and acted as a decoy to stall for time. But that didn't change the fact that he was only eighteen and had already claimed the lives of thirty-two people. What did that say about him? He was a monster. A freak obsessed by battle and bloodshed.
His mind kept racing with no end in sight as he spaced everything out around him. He just stared at the end of his hospital bed. Sound became muted around him as his mind was spinning out of control. He no longer could hear his grandfather or Erza talking in the room. He knew they were asking him questions. But all he could focus on were the memories of the battle. Of the number of people he killed. How many times did he strike them down with his claws? The callous way he used his magic to slay the enemy. All these thoughts and more were sending him into a massive panic attack that seemed to have no way to stop.
His heart rate began racing as the monitor equipment picked it up. Erza and Principal Shepard stopped their conversation and looked at him. Erza noted the pale sweat covering his skin, the way his eyes seemed glazed over and unfocused. He was unresponsive when his grandfather asked him a few questions. She guessed he was in the middle of a severe panic attack and doing the only thing she could think of to distract him. She ran over, grabbed his face in both of her hands and crashed her lips onto his in a kiss so hot, it set her own blood on fire with lust and desire.
Gavin's head spun as he tasted heaven. The most perfect, soft lips he'd ever known were crashing down against his. They moved softly, gently as they probed his own lips, seeking a response. Gavin took too long to realize what was going on, and the lips parted his own and a soft, moist warm tongue entered his mouth and made his senses electrify with intensity. His body was ignited with desire and lust as he wrapped his arms around Erza in response. He was hungrily kissing her back as he held her close to his own body.
He lost all thought as to why he was as anxious or panicky a few moments ago. Right now the only thing that mattered to him was the piece of perfection that was in his arms. He broke apart and rested his forehead against hers as he smiled at her breathlessly as her chest was heaving from her own exertion. "Hi baby," Erza said softly with a smile spreading across her cheeks.
Gavin smiled lovingly at her and said, "Hey beautiful." He loved the feel of Erza in his arms. Her soft curves and warm body pressed intimately against his was his favorite sensation.
"Are you alright now?" she asked him, her brows furrowed in concern. She reached out and stroked his cheek softly with her finger as she looked into his eyes.
"Yeah... I'm alright baby," Gavin said as he let out a deep sigh. He felt the tension leave his body as she curled up against him.
"You looked like you were in the middle of a massive panic attack. You weren't responding to either your grandfather or me. I didn't know what else to do to snap you out of it," she said in explanation with a soft blush on her cheeks. The kiss had started something inside her again and she desperately wanted more.
"Yeah. Sorry about that. I was thinking about all the lives I've now taken. Thirty-two," Gavin said softly as he looked away.
"Hey" Erza said as she pulled his face back to look at her. "Don't do that. Don't shut me out and try to handle everything on your own. No offense, you suck at it," she chastised him gently as she kept her gaze locked onto his. "We are a team, right?" she asked him.
Gavin nodded without hesitation, "Always have been. You and me against the world," Gavin replied. He didn't want anyone else by his side but his feral mate.
"Then you need to confide in me when these things are on your mind," she told him as she kissed his cheek tenderly and smiled at him.
Gavin sighed as he shook his head, attempting to clear all the dark thoughts out of it. Childish he knew. But he had to try something to clear his thoughts. "You're right, Erza. My bad," he said in response as he smiled at him.
Erza grinned as she said. "Good, now I think your grandfather has a surprise for you," Erza said with a wide grin as she leaned back and looked at Principal Shepard.
Principal Shepard chuckled lightly as he stepped forward and looked at Gavin. "Gavin, say hello to your newest roommate," Principal Shepard said as he pointed to Erza.
Gavin looked between them, slightly surprised, to say the least. "Wait. What?" he asked for clarification. There was no way that the principal was suggesting what Gavin thought he was suggesting. Was Erza really about to be his new roommate? What about Jackson? How would all this work? Would she start classes with him at the academy, or just stay in the dorms with him?
Principal Shepard laughed as he took a second to explain. "She asked a favor. She will be staying in your room with you. Jackson will still be your dormmate. But Erza will share the room with you. If she wishes, in the near future she can attend classes with you during your stay at the academy. We believe it is best to keep an eye on you and your tendency to get into trouble," Principal Shepard said in an explanation. He figured this would make his grandson excited about the idea.
Gavin looked stunned between Erza and his grandfather. She had this planned out. She wanted to continue keeping an eye on him so he didn't keep getting into trouble. Gavin grinned as he chuckled as a thought came to him. "You just want to keep being my babysitter," he said with a grin before he could stop himself.
Erza grinned, but there was a slight blush to her cheeks as he called her out. "Not in the least. You just don't know how to stay out of trouble on your own," she chastised him. "Now get some sleep, I'll be right here when you wake up", she told him as she pulled out the chair that was converted into a long bed next to Gavin and turned the tv on low volume.
Principal Shepard laughed as he headed towards the door. "I will have someone drop off some decent bedding and food for you both shortly. Get some rest. There will still be questions that people will need answers from you, Gavin," Principal Shepard said in farewell as he walked out the door.
