Mage Manual-Chapter 1404 - 1029: Interlude of Longing (Part 1)_2
"Alright, alright, let’s keep exploring." Siflin caught her breath and said irritably, "Now they could advance to Demigod at any time and enter Hell, while we’re not even Legendary yet. Let’s see how you chase them."
"Why can’t we chase them?"
Hanna asked in confusion, "Even if he advances to Demigod, as long as he doesn’t pledge allegiance to the Heavenly Kingdom and become an Angel, he’ll just wander around the land of the six nations. He can’t go anywhere else."
Siflin was startled and murmured, "That’s true. Strange, why did I just feel like you couldn’t catch up to him?"
"It’s probably because of the Dream Stairs." Tamasi glanced at the surrounding fantastical colors like smoke and fog, "Everything here is chaotic; our spirits might be affected."
They were standing on an ivory white staircase; it was called a staircase, but its area was excessively large, almost akin to a vast white land. It took a full minute of flying before reaching the edge, and then they could find the next layer of stairs upward.
It sounded simple enough: just fly over, right? But the biggest threat of the Dream Stairs came from the surrounding colorful mist that wouldn’t disperse. The higher one went, the denser the mist became. If one dared to fly five meters above the ground, they would directly collide into the mist.
The mist would drag the Mage’s consciousness into a dream realm, where there were many restrictive word suffixes. The Mage had to defeat the enemies within to obtain the spoils from the mist—in fact, the mist was just an altered version of Dream Bubble Shadow.
In theory, this new map, not much different from the old version, should be quickly adaptable for Holy Sanctuary Mages. However, because the Dream Stairs were born recently, all aspects were unstable, resulting in various unforeseen circumstances, like sudden appearances of mist or the mist’s difficulty suddenly becoming off the charts.
More importantly, Mages could return to reality at any time within Dream Bubble Shadow, only requiring a countdown timer. But if caught in the colored mist, unless the mist was completely eradicated, Mages couldn’t return to reality.
If a Mage was defeated by the mist, their soul could even be completely consumed by it!
In other words, Mages no longer enjoyed the privilege of leaving while gravely injured in the Dream Stairs; failure could mean complete Death!
Besides, the Dream Stairs also had time disorder issues, with fluctuating speeds of Magic Power recovery. Sometimes, after exploring the Dream Stairs for ten hours, only a minute passed in reality; the opposite scenario was also common.
Due to various affecting factors, Holy Sanctuary Mages generally were unwilling to explore the unstable Dream Stairs, except for those daring and confident in their formidable strength who couldn’t wait.
Freyja and her group were precisely this type, since no matter how high the difficulty of the colored mist was, they could team up as four to clear it. In fact, the waiting was intolerable for them, except Hanna and Siflin were satisfied with their current strength, Tamasi and Freyja couldn’t wait to immediately ascend to Legendary.
Even if it’s just shortening the distance a little bit...even if it’s just getting a little closer...
At least next time we meet, I can stand confidently by your side.
Push that red-haired Sword Master aside.
Freyja and the others gathered their emotions and continued exploring the Dream Stairs.
But after jointly dealing with a mist cloud, the Female Mages looked at each other, and Siflin said, "Is your Secret Poison also..."
"Yes." Hanna’s face looked somewhat grim, "The Faded Dream Secret Poison has failed."
Just recently, they discovered that the Faded Dream had completely failed and couldn’t transform into psychedelic Magic Power. This Secret Poison was naturally known from Ash’s diary copy. Although never seen for real, Ash’s credibility outside of emotions was very high, and they immediately got infected by this Secret Poison.
Even though the Distant Realm ended and the Dream Stairs were born, the Faded Dream Secret Poison didn’t disappear, indicating it could still be escaped using the ’awakening from dream’ method from Source Angel’s dream to Ruby Mountain. Now that the Secret Poison failed, it’s clearly because of the complete fall of Source Angel, making the Secret Poison unfeasible.
"What should we do..." Freyja said, distraught, "The Faded Dream can’t be used anymore; how do we ascend Ruby Mountain?"
Siflin suggested, "Increase the Magic Realm to the Legendary level?"
"I’m so dumb; I won’t get there in ten years!" Meiwa bit her lower lip, "By then, who knows how many kids Ash will have..."
Damn it, if other Spirit Mages knew you could reach the Legendary level in ten years, they’d probably want to convert their race into Meiwa.
However, Siflin was more curious about another point, "Can’t Holy Sanctuary Mages have children?"
"I wish to be in the best Status... well." Freyja’s eyes sparkled with hope, "If he’s Legendary, then I should at least be Legendary, right? It’s best to be a Demigod, or even a Divine Lord; if I could become Supreme of Magic..."
If there was a ’Ridiculous Reasons for Becoming Supreme of Magic’ ranking in this world, Meiwa’s reason would undoubtedly be first place, thought the little bat.
"Aside from elevating the Magic Realm, we indeed have no other way." Hanna pondered, "Although I asked Gospel, there is a Path of Origin to Ruby Mountain in the Dream Stairs, Gospel only knew ’Ruby Mountain is at the top of the Dream Stairs’ with no more information."
Ruby Mountain being at the top of the Dream Stairs is almost guessable just by thinking, but the problem is the Dream Stairs have Infinite Extension, with mist along the path; ordinary Holy Domain struggles greatly to climb several layers, let alone to tread through all Dream Stairs?
