Mage Legend-Chapter 845 - 62: Steps
Just as Lynch predicted, this conference was proceeding very smoothly. To defeat the enemy before them, even countries holding different political opinions could swiftly reach a compromise.
The mage sat outside the circle of generals, holding a cup of hot tea in his hands, letting the curling steam obscure the smile on his lips—how long could these agreements be executed and adhered to? Due to the different lifespans of the various races, their perspectives on a contract were not the same. Humans considered their gains and losses over spans of decades, while dwarves and elves looked further ahead, spanning hundreds or even thousands of years. However, these things were not so important to Lynch; he had already obtained what he wanted.
A world that could gradually welcome and accept mages, where arcane power was no longer considered evil and could truly benefit the masses. Of course, new terrors would also emerge, twisted human nature always turning things capable of good into the tools of demons. But time would slowly smooth over these wounds, and light would eventually come.
Lynch pondered the matters of the future, and his gaze drifted beyond the building, even off this land. He saw the great serpent preparing to launch a counterattack from its lair, its body slowly recovering, its power becoming more formidable and domineering. Countless snake eggs, near the hot molten river, being covered by black water made from corpses—they would soon hatch, turning into bloodthirsty warriors and machines of slaughter.
In comparison, the human side's army was still at a disadvantage, but since they were in a defensive position, there was no need to worry too much. Even if the great serpent launched its attack immediately, Lynch had enough power to prevent any losses.
His gaze floated southward to the Elf Forest, and the Elf Queen Hernfurry immediately noticed him. Lynch smiled sheepishly because using prophecy spells for distant observation sometimes felt no different from spying. The Elf Queen guided Lynch into the protected Heather Holy Land. Under the watch of ancient giant trees—rumored to possess sentience—the demon statue Finder was tightly bound. Its enormous body was entangled by thick vines, unable to move at all. Some small animals played on the grass before it, not finding anything fearful about this iron figure.
'The elves will slowly reform it, allowing the breath of nature to restore a sense of life to him,' the Elf Queen's voice floated into Lynch's mind. 'Take good care of my daughter, and come back often to visit,' she said lastly.
Lynch nodded, but suddenly remembered that he was merely projecting his sight, not his entire head, and the Elf Queen couldn't see his nod. He felt a gentle nudge on his shoulder and quickly withdrew his gaze.
Wislin stood by the mage's side, gently calling, "Lynch, there's something I need to discuss with you."
"Oh." The mage put down his teacup and stood up with the help of his magic wand. "Wislin, is it about the dwarf bomb?"
"More or less." Wislin's brows were tightly furrowed. "I also agree with your stance against the proliferation of weapons because only truth and justice are the strongest. But the current situation is indeed special, and everyone needs a hope that can reassure them."
Lynch nodded, silently walking to the conference table. Whether due to the effect of magic or the influence of emotions, the entire venue fell silent.
"The design method of the dwarf bomb is known only to me, so I can assure everyone with confidence that neither now nor in the future will another be created," Lynch said. "Zilvra told me that there are only twenty-one unused bombs left in the All-Knowing Tower, so I will give them all to Pastan's Northern Cavalry, because I trust that under the guidance of the God of Light Pate, these honorable knights will not misuse force."
Saying this, Lynch glanced at Knight Macken, who nodded at him.
Lynch continued, "As far as I know, the advantage of the Snake-man army originates from the technology controlled by the great serpent, who uses his divine power to support all the energy needed by his entire army. This has greatly exhausted him. Our Mage Association cannot promise additional assistance, but there is one thing we can do: negate this advantage."
