Chapter 340: Episode 23 Out of Control_3

The elf watched the mage with some concern, not understanding what he was saying. However, Caidi still had his own task: "Mr. Lynch, about fifty archers of the Elf Clan are at your disposal; they’re all members of the Moon Hand Guards. Where should we go now?"

Lynch’s heart immediately began pounding violently, and the adrenaline rushed to his head. Although he had once informed the Elf Queen of his plan to ambush the undead army at a critical location, he hadn’t mentioned Residual Star Swamp for secrecy reasons. As a result of disappearing for four days, he missed the final high-level elf meeting. The Elf Queen left the Moon Hand Guards, presumably to await the mage’s return, hoping that these elite warriors could assist the mage in the ambush battle, or at least hold out until the main forces arrived. The Empress couldn’t leave too many troops behind either, given the considerable strength of the undead army, as he needed troops to protect many villages. Although equipped with transformed arrows provided by Lynch, the Elf Shooters could disperse the undead with holy water from a distance like priests, the actual efficacy would only be proven in battle.

Lynch contemplated the fifty elves before him. With this elite force, the battle at Residual Star Swamp shouldn’t be a problem. These formidable warriors, combined with his spells and set traps, would certainly wear down the enemy there.

"Alright, you should prepare to set out immediately and follow me," Lynch said, "I hope the swift legs of the Elf Rangers live up to their reputation."

Upon hearing his task, Caidi became excited immediately. They were often called Heather’s strongest unit, yet never had the chance to display their prowess. Now, a battle awaited them; despite being led by a human (which marred the perfection slightly), even the elegant Elf Poet would be completely thrilled at the sound of battle horns.

"Even though I don’t know what stories of Rangers you’ve heard," he said, "we will not let you down!"

After Caidi spoke, he turned and vanished among the leaves. His nimble figure leaped across the white branches and disappeared from sight. Lynch knew he was going to gather the troop. Soon, the elite force would stand before him.

But at this time, an intense unease descended upon the mage. The progress of the war was getting more bizarre, gradually slipping out of Lynch’s control. The mysterious lapse of time felt like a hole drilled at the bottom of a barrel, allowing confidence to slowly drain through it. Lynch’s hands trembled slightly on his magic wand, his brows furrowed more and more tightly.

"Wouldn’t a trap be too risky?" he murmured to himself, "Was I too confident then?"

"Brother Lynch, what are you talking about?" Soka peeked out from behind the curtain, "Sister Yilinrui said there’s a war and forbade me from leaving the house."

"Where did she go?" Lynch asked, "Just stay safely inside."

"I don’t know either; she left a few days ago. Probably not long after you left," Soka tilted her head, "These days I’ve been diligently practicing archery, never lazy!"

"Of course, you are the most obedient," Lynch said with a frown.

Just as he finished speaking, a sharp sense of crisis enveloped the mage. Whenever someone invisible or in stealth approached, the Eye of Insight would alert Lynch in this manner. He scanned the surroundings, and a sight he least wanted to see appeared before him.

"Zilvra!" the mage suddenly accelerated, rushing forward.

The female drow was covered in wounds, her exquisite chain armor battered and torn. Elf equipment would repel Zilvra’s bloodline, so she still wore that altered but non-magical Dark Elf Armor. The injuries on Zilvra had turned bluish-purple, coagulating into large clots. This indicated either cursed power or poisoned weapons.

"Soka, get here quickly!" Lynch embraced the faltering Zilvra, taking the Invisibility Stone from her hand. Thus, others without the Eye of Insight could see the female drow’s figure.

"Lynch, I... finally made it back. By the sea, a place called Unicorn Bay, fish... fishmen are attacking. There are so many of them," Zilvra said weakly, "Their arrows are so dense... I couldn’t... block them all."

Soka saw Zilvra’s condition, sobbing and using all her strength to cast healing magic. Gentle white light caressed the areas, and the bluish-purple gradually faded. Though the wounds remained and lost blood couldn’t be immediately replenished, the injuries could stabilize for now.

"Lynch, I can’t help... you for now," Zilvra’s eyelids gradually closed, "These wounds... will definitely make... me faint." freeweɓnovel~cѳm

After saying this, she collapsed softly into Lynch’s arms.

"Take good care of Zilvra!" the mage told Soka, "Even if she wakes up, don’t let her go anywhere!"

Soka wiped her tears and nodded vigorously. She knew Lynch’s tone implied an extremely urgent situation. She firmly grasped Zilvra, dragging her into the house. Lynch didn’t help because Caidi had returned with some elves at this time.

"Ah! What happened?" the elf asked, "How did she get injured? Should I get a priest?"

"No need, her wounds have been treated," Lynch replied seriously, staring into Caidi’s eyes, "The situation is very critical now, you must listen carefully to what I say."

The Elf Guard Captain had never seen the mage appear like this; normally, this human always wore a smile, appearing very relaxed. It seemed that when war came, he would become as serious as our Elf Warriors.

"A large number of fishmen are attacking Unicorn Bay, forming a pincer attack with the undead against the elves," the mage said, "Your task now is to intercept those monsters, delaying their advance as much as possible."

"What?" Caidi exclaimed but quickly calmed down. His mind was racing, and the terrain near Unicorn Bay rapidly appeared in his mind, marking every suitable ambush location.

"Remember, don’t be reckless," Lynch also didn’t know the scale of the fishmen’s attack out there, "If necessary, be sure to send reinforcements."

"And what about you?" The Elf Warrior obviously found the flaw in the plan. Lynch’s tone suggested the mage was not part of this battle. But then he remembered the mage before him was not an elf, just a human. He instantly replied with a firm tone, "Rest assured, I will definitely complete this task!"

Finishing his words, the few elves turned and left swiftly, not even waving goodbye.

Lynch didn’t mind Caidi’s misunderstanding. He flexed his neck and fingers as if playing a piano, keeping them at their most agile state.

"I’ll handle the enemies at Residual Star Swamp," Lynch thought for a moment, nodding firmly, "Might as well see how much I’ve improved."

Calculating his remaining magical power, he took out his last flying scroll from his sleeve, "If it weren’t for these extra investigations, I wouldn’t be so disheveled. Looks like I’ll have to walk back no matter what."

"Where are you going, Mr. Mage? Don’t think you can just leave so easily," a voice sounded from behind him.
