Lustful Demon King: Summoned by the Demon Goddesses!-Chapter 158: Standard Demons!
Sabrina didn’t decide to hurry up, making sure everything was perfect for this visit. Once they left the administrative chamber, her pace settled into something smooth and measured.
The Succubus Saintess walked half a step ahead and slightly to Jax’s right, guiding without appearing to lead, accompanying without appearing subordinate.
The deeper they moved into the capital’s layered structure, the more the atmosphere shifted. The administrative core had been dense with structured mana and quiet authority, but as they descended through gradually widening avenues... the air itself began to change.
It felt much warmer and more alive. The sound all around them grew richer as they heard many voices constantly overlapping, and the sound of people laughing all around.
Sabrina glanced toward him briefly, "We are approaching the territory," she said.
Jax did not respond, but his senses were already adjusting. They stepped through an arched gateway formed from interwoven black crystal and living mana-veins that pulsed with deep crimson light.
The moment they crossed, the Standard Demon District revealed itself.
It was alive. This place breathed.
Buildings curved instead of rising in strict vertical symmetry, organic shapes layered with balconies, suspended walkways, glowing sigil banners, and cascading streams of bioluminescent growths that clung to architecture like living art.
Lanterns floated freely rather than in regulated grids.
Music drifted from multiple directions at once, drums, stringed resonance instruments, harmonic chants, laughter woven between them.
Warmth rolled through the air in waves, heat from cooking fires, mana from spellcraft demonstrations, emotional energy from dense gatherings of people simply... living.
Crowds moved constantly all about vibrantly.
Succubi drifted through the air on gently beating wings, their laughter melodic and effortless.
Incubi leaned against carved stone railings engaged in animated conversation, gesturing dramatically as they debated something with theatrical intensity.
Orcs stood in large communal clusters, some sharing food, others arm-wrestling across massive reinforced tables that groaned under the force of their strength.
Goblins darted between structures carrying tools, supplies, glowing constructs — their movements fast, efficient, endlessly busy.
A group of Liches stood near a floating arcane lattice, calmly discussing layered spell formation while skeletal familiars rearranged crystalline focus nodes around them.
Centaurs moved through wide avenues built specifically for their stride, their hooves striking polished stone with steady rhythm.
Trolls sat along lower terraces sharing enormous carved vessels of fermented mana brew, their booming laughter shaking nearby lantern chains.
Everywhere, Jax could see the dense life of all the Demons just living normally and enjoying themselves, without the stress of worrying when the Heroes next attack would come.
And then, as they were walking around, someone noticed Jax and Sabrina.
It began with a single pause.
A young incubus mid-sentence paused as he saw the duo out of the corner of his eye, blinking rapidly to reaffirm that he was seeing correctly and giving a sincere bow once he confirmed what he was seeing,"My King."
The words carried loudly and many more heads turned as they heard it. A ripple of awareness spread outward like expanding rings in water.
All of the Demons who saw Jax showed a deep level of respect. One by one... then dozens... then hundreds...
Demons bowed their heads. Some placed hands over hearts while some of them knelt briefly. Some simply straightened with visible pride in their posture.
"My King."
"Our King has come to greet us,"
"Welcome, My King."
The greetings came from every direction, soft, loud, laughing, emotional, each voice different but unified in meaning.
Jax did not stop walking, but he acknowledged every one of them with nods, also sending out a calming, rippling aura to sweep through his immediate environment.
Sabrina watched from beside him, her chest tight with emotion she did not attempt to suppress.
Seeing all of this happening was exactly why she wanted to come. So her people would get a chance to officially meet and thank Jax for everything he had done for them.
They moved deeper into the district. An enormous open plaza spread before them, central gathering ground of the district.
Massive communal cooking structures glowed with layered heat enchantments. Long shared tables stretched across the stone expanse where demons of every type sat together eating, talking, arguing, laughing.
A group of young goblins demonstrated mechanical constructs that unfolded into hovering light sculptures.
Nearby, two orcs sparred bare-handed in a friendly match while spectators cheered loudly.
A circle of succubi performed aerial dance, bodies moving through layered illusion magic that painted shifting color trails through the air.
Liches conducted a public spell lecture, explaining advanced mana compression to a mixed crowd of attentive listeners.
Incubi musicians played complex harmonic rhythms that caused floating lanterns to pulse in synchronized light patterns.
Everything overlapped and coexisted easily and Sabrina watched Jax’s reaction carefully
"Well?" she asked softly.
He looked around once more, taking in not just what was visible... but what was felt, "Looks very good, you’ve also done an amazing job fostering this environment,"
"You give me way too much credit," Sabrina said and continued to lead him on.
The evening unfolded naturally after that. There was no schedule or formal tour, Jax simply went wherever Sabrina led him, and anytime he asked to go somewhere specific, she’d lead him there too.
He observed a lich explaining mana threading and asked a question that sparked a twenty-minute discussion that drew a crowd of fascinated listeners.
He sat briefly at a communal table where orcs insisted he try their strongest spiced fire-roast — which he did without hesitation, earning roaring approval.
A group of goblins eagerly demonstrated new utility constructs designed to assist agricultural expansion, speaking so quickly over one another that Sabrina had to gently moderate them.
Succubi performers invited him to observe a newly developed layered illusion choreography that integrated emotional resonance mapping, which he analyzed with genuine interest.
He watched young demons training in controlled combat rings designed for skill development rather than dominance.
He listened to stories from storytellers while drinking home-made tea and answered questions from young demons who asked.
Time ticked by and soon, night deepened. All the lanterns brightened and the music playing softened into much slower rhythms.
Communal meals gave way to smaller conversations and various families gathered all around, children falling asleep against their parents’ shoulders.
The district glowed with steady warmth rather than vibrant intensity. Jax stood at the edge of an elevated terrace overlooking the heart of the Standard Demon territory.
Below him, thousands of lives continuing peacefully. Sabrina stood beside him, watching his reactions silently and after a long while, she spoke quietly.
"They have always been strong," she said.
"But now... they are safe enough to simply be alive."
"Yeah, looks amazing," Jax said.
Then she asked the question she had been holding all evening.
"...Was this what you hoped to see?"
Jax didn’t even need to think to respond to this question, "Of course,"
