Chapter 129: Capturing Alexi!

All of that pent up anger and rage exploded when the Heroes attacked Jax once more, and all their discipline and coordination completely disappeared, as they were all consumed by the sole goal of taking the Demon King down whatever means possible.

The moment Killian surged forward to attack Jax, their tightly nit battle formation dissolved into nothing but individual instinct, every man & woman left for themselves as they charged forward.

Jax felt it immediately, the delicate, hard-earned cohesion the Heroes had built snapping like overstretched wire.

Killian was the first to arrive near Jax and attack him.

Divine light erupted from the Hero in uncontrolled waves, golden radiance burning so hot it scorched the sky itself. His sword screamed as layered blessings collapsed into raw output, no longer refined and no longer tactical, just power hurled forward with murderous intent. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮

Seeing his cousin in such a state, completely corrupted by the Demon King in his mind, pushed Killian over the edge, and all he could think about was killing Jax and potentially saving Natasha from whatever hold Jax had her under.

Meanwhile, Jax himself didn’t bother to move much.

~BANG!~

The blade struck his raised gauntlet with a detonation that cracked the battlefield open, stone liquefying beneath their feet as shockwaves rippled outward. Killian’s face twisted in triumph for a fraction of a second.

But that triumph quickly disappeared as the Hero’s wrist buckled after the clash.

~CRUNCH!~

A sickening crunch echoed as Jax closed his fingers around the blade, demonic sigils igniting across his arm. With a casual twist, he redirected the force sideways, slamming Killian into the ground hard enough to carve a crater.

"Too emotional, do you think you can beat me like this you pathetic excuse of a hero?" Jax asked mildly, further heightening Killian’s anger.

Simultaneously, Touka roared and followed up on her partner’s attack, oath-runes flaring violently as she abandoned all restraint. Her blade descended in a brutal arc, fueled by faith and hatred, aimed to cleave Jax in half.

This time, Jax stepped into the strike, and instantly he caught her sword barehanded.

The runes screamed in protest as demonic authority crushed divine law outright. Jax’s power completely overwhelmed the power within the sword, and Touka’s eyes widened as she saw all this happen in real time.

And before she could even react, Jax drove his knee into her abdomen, the impact folding her in half and launching her across the battlefield like a broken missile.

~BOOM~BANG!~

Touka crashed through various walls and hit the far ruins and didn’t rise for quite a while.

Seeing this, Lizzy shrieked, holy arrays detonating into existence as panic overtook devotion. Light flooded the field, healing, reinforcing, overcompensating, power surging without control as she tried to hold everything together.

Jax turned toward her, seeing her immense panic as he looked at her, chuckling as his Demonic Eyes of Sin flared directly towards her, its power swarming the Saintess.

Lizzy froze mid-cast, breath hitching as terror slammed into her soul. Every hidden insecurity, every obsessive thought, every suppressed fear surfaced at once.

Her magic collapsed inward, imploding into feedback that sent her screaming to her knees, blood spilling from her nose and ears as she was overwhelmed by her own power.

"Faith without balance breaks easily," Jax said, almost kindly, vanishing and reappearing nearby as he dodged dozens of arrows fired by Alicia.

Seeing this, Alicia didn’t stop and fired off more shots anyway.

Arrows streaked in from impossible angles, spatial distortions layering over each other in a desperate attempt to salvage something, anything, from the chaos and landing even the smallest of hits.

Hydra surged skyward with a thunderous roar.

The Emerald Dragon’s wings blotted out the sky as toxic emerald mana poured from her scales. She twisted through the air with predatory grace, claws shredding displacement fields as her poison aura destabilized Alicia’s constructs.

One claw strike sent Alicia tumbling, ribs shattering as she crashed hard, barely conscious, and during all of this, Alexi was standing frozen. She was the only one who didn’t completely lose her mind seeing Natasha, so she had watched all of what happened.

She watched it all unravel, the teamwork, the hope, the illusion that they had finally caught up after their extensive training. They had given up their ability to return to their home world for this, and yet they still were nowhere near closer to Jax in strength.

As she was thinking about all of this, Jax finally turned and looked at her, their eyes crossing as he simply walked towards her, having taken care of all of her teammates.

Each step crushed the air itself as gravity bent subtly around him. Alexi tried to cast, elemental loops forming instinctively, but her hands shook, mana stuttering under pressure she had never felt before.

"You’re still thinking," Jax said. "That’s good."

He reached out.

Alexi screamed and unleashed everything, fire, ice, lightning, gravity collapsing inward in a desperate storm, but none of it worked, as Jax stepped through it.

He placed two fingers against her forehead, and forcefully ended the spell. The backlash ripped through her system violently, blood spraying as she collapsed into his arms, consciousness flickering.

Killian saw it, and something inside him broke completely.

He lunged again, screaming Natasha and Alexi’s names, power burning him from the inside out, but Hydra intercepted him.

The Emerald Dragon slammed him into the ground, jaws closing around his torso without biting down fully, just enough pressure to crush bones, not kill.

"Pathetic," she hissed.

Natasha stood beside Jax, calm and unmoved amid the carnage. Her crimson-lit eyes swept over the fallen Heroes with detached clarity.

"This is what happens," she said softly, "when you mistake anger for strength."

Jax lifted Alexi effortlessly, her body limp against his shoulder. He surveyed the battlefield one final time, spotting Killian crushed and screaming at him, Touka and Lizzy passed out and Alicia barely breathing, looking at him terrified.

Alive.

All of them.

"Lesson delivered," Jax said.

Space folded instantly.

Reality bent around him, around Natasha, around Hydra as the Emerald Dragon coiled protectively.

They vanished.

Leaving behind silence, and Heroes who finally understood just how far above them the Demon King truly stood.
