"An army, a fucking army...how did the demons have an army?" Xavier shouted as he looked below.
"The army isn’t entirely made of demons; most of the army are just normal beasts," Star spoke as her eyes were fixed below.
"Normal beasts, does that mean she’s here controlling those beasts, increase your speed, we’re going down, head towards..."
"I’ve seen the problem" Star spoke.
"Below, at the other side of the battle, close to the forest, two portals are open; the beasts are being summoned through those portals. We should land there instead and close the portal, then the battle would naturally come to an end since the beasts aren’t as powerful," Star spoke.
"Alright," Xavier replied, and Star increased her speed even more as she descended downward towards the edge of the forest.
As they got closer, Xavier could now see the portal and the mage holding it together. Besides the mage were 5 demons. At this distance, he couldn’t tell exactly, but he knew they were strong, almost the same as the one he fought beside in the realm of the dead.
But it didn’t matter, he was going to decimate every single one of them.
[Inventory]
Xavier opened his inventory and brought out his sword. The moment the sword touched his hands, he could feel it. Kann was releasing even more power. He knew why this was because it was a battlefield, and Kann would drain a lot of blood.
"Star, you go for the one on the right, I’ll take the one to the left, make sure you kill all of them, I don’t want anyone to escape and report a dragon," Xavier spoke, and Star nodded.
Once he was satisfied with the height Xavier jumped off and activated his spell.
[Wind Stride]
He was at an angle, so he just needed to continue downward, and he did just that, dashing towards the mage and no one else.
Different beasts came through the portal, joining the battlefield. Xavier had no idea how she was able to control all of the beasts, but he knew it was the demon queen.
"What is that?" One of the demons spoke as he looked upward, and the others turned their heads up.
"Enemy," Another of the demons shouted as he got a good look at Xavier, but it was already too late. Before the mage, who was focused on the portal, could do anything, Xavier passed by the mage and landed on the ground.
Xavier slid on the ground, finally came to a stop, and turned around. As he did, the head of the demon fell to the ground; it was the cleanest cut he had ever delivered, and the body stood standing even after the cut, and the portal collapsed.
"You bastard, kill him!" One of the demons shouted as he ran towards the mage. He had no idea what spell or power the demon beside the portal mage had, so he couldn’t take any chances.
[Radiant Lance]
A bright lance of light shot towards the demon, and immediately he sensed the spell. He jumped away, and the lance disintegrated the body of the dead demon, and soon all four demons were attacking him.
Xavier tightened the grip on his sword as they attacked, three of them held weapons in their hands, one a spear, while two held swords, but the fourth and fifth ones, who had joined the attack, were most likely mages.
Xavier didn’t wait for them to surround him. The moment the first demon with the spear made a move, Xavier dashed forward instead of backward surprising them.
His speed shocked all of them. The demon thrust his spear, aiming for Xavier’s chest, but Xavier tilted his body sideways at the last moment and the spearhead just missed his chest.
Before the demon could pull it back, Xavier stepped in close and swung his sword upward delivering a cut.
The demon didn’t even have the chance to scream. His body was split from waist to shoulder, and blood sprayed across the grass. Xavier moved again before the body fell.
The first demon with a sword charged from his left, swinging wildly, trying to overwhelm him with brute strength as it was much bigger than Xavier, but it didn’t matter.
Xavier blocked the first strike, sparks flying off the blades, then he pushed forward with unreal strength, forcing the demon to stumble, and with a quick twist, Xavier ducked under the demon’s arm and cut through the back of his knee.
The demon roared as it fell on its knees. Xavier did not hesitate and drove his sword straight through the demon’s throat, he pulled it out just as quickly and turned towards the others.
"Two down" Xavier mumbled.
The ground behind him exploded as he dodged the first spell, the mage demons finally started attacking.
A red blast of flame hit where Xavier had been standing. Dirt and grass shot into the air, but he had already dashed forward again, leaving nothing but a blur. Another blast struck behind him, but Xavier was already beside the next sword demon.
He put himself behind the demon so the mages wouldn’t have a clear shot of him unless they wanted to sacrifice their own.
The demon swung fast, faster than the other two, but Xavier was still faster. He leaned back as the blade passed over his nose, then in the same motion slashed upward.
His blade ripped through the demon’s stomach and out through his ribs. The demon coughed up blood and fell forward.
Xavier kicked him to the ground and kept moving, only two were left.
Both of them began chanting at the same time. One summoned black lightning, and the other summoned a large ball of purple flame but before they could shoot, Xavier stretched his hands towards the one summoning lightning.
[Disrupt Magic]
In an instant, his Mana faltered, and the spell failed. The demon had no idea what happened, but he could see Xavier already dashing forward.
