Chapter 94: Ending It

Kelvin wasn’t wrong.

That was the worst part about what he’d said.

Every word had been true, uncomfortable as it was to admit. If they sent someone like Twenty after him, someone who could crush a man’s skull with one hand and catch a blade with the other, Liam wouldn’t stand a chance.

Not as he was right now.

Not without preparation.

Kelvin’s point had been valid. Liam was in danger. Real danger.

The kind that didn’t give warnings or second chances.

But there was one thing Kelvin had gotten wrong.

He wasn’t normal anymore.

He had the system. He had skills that put him beyond what any regular person could do. He just needed to figure out how to use them properly, how to survive long enough to get stronger.

And right now, sitting in this arena surrounded by rich families who controlled everything on their own rights, he had an opportunity he couldn’t waste.

Liam’s eyes drifted upward again, scanning the VIP booths built into the walls above the seating area.

Seven of them. Each one enclosed with dark glass that made it impossible to see inside from where he sat. But etched into the glass beside each booth was a single letter.

B. R. W. M. A. S. H.

Blades. Rothschilds. Williams. Morgraves. Ashford. Sterlings. Hiltons.

The seven families.

The Blades had the biggest booth, positioned directly center with the best view of the ring.

The glass was darker than the others, the structure more imposing. It made sense. From what Elena had told him, the Blades were the most dangerous of all the families.

They didn’t just run operations, they controlled the underground entirely.

Liam stared at the booths for a long moment, studying each one carefully.

Some had movement behind the glass. Shadows shifting. Others looked completely empty.

The Ashford booth, the one marked with an A, was dark. No movement. No light filtering through from inside.

’Elena’s not here.’

But the Williams booth... that one had light spilling faintly through the edges of the dark glass. Movement. Someone was definitely in there.

Liam’s jaw tightened.

’That has to be him.’

He needed to check this place out.

He was already here, already inside. If he didn’t look around now, he might never get another chance.

But walking around openly would get him stopped immediately, maybe worse.

He needed the system.

Liam kept his expression neutral as he called up the interface in his mind, the translucent blue screen appearing in front of him, invisible to everyone else.

Liam stared at the Cloak skill for a long moment.

’Must be in contact with active 100/100 target.’

That meant it was useless right now.

He didn’t have anyone with him who fit that description.

Kelvin sure as hell wasn’t a target, and there was no one else around he could use it with.

That left Silent Stride.

Ten minutes wasn’t a lot of time, but it was enough.

Thirty points was manageable. He’d still have forty points left in reserve.

’Alright. Let’s do this.’

Liam stood up slowly, stretching his arms like he was just getting comfortable.

Kelvin glanced over at him. "Where you going?"

"Bathroom," Liam said.

Kelvin frowned, looking around the arena like he was genuinely trying to remember if he’d seen one on the way in. "Dude, I don’t think there’s a bathroom in here."

Liam shrugged. "I’ll find one."

Kelvin gave him a skeptical look but didn’t push it. "Alright, man. Don’t get lost."

Liam nodded and started making his way down the row of seats, weaving between people who were still shouting and cheering as workers prepared the ring for the next fight.

’Just need to get this done and get back.’

He moved toward the back of the arena, away from the main seating area, keeping his steps casual, unhurried. Just a guy looking for the restroom.

But as he approached a narrow corridor near the far wall, he noticed two bouncers standing in front of it.

Both were big.

Not as big as Twenty, but close.

One had his arms crossed over his chest, the other stood with his hands clasped in front of him. They weren’t looking at the crowd. They were watching the hallway behind them.

’That’s where the VIP section is.’

Liam slowed his pace, angling his approach so he was coming from their right side.

He kept his expression neutral, like he belonged there, like he had every reason to be walking in that direction.

The bouncers didn’t react immediately. They just stood there, watching.

Liam kept walking.

When he was about ten feet away, one of them shifted his stance slightly, his eyes narrowing.

’Activate Silent Stride.’

[Silent Stride Activated]

[Duration: 10 minutes]

[Lust Points Remaining: 26/70]

The change was instant. Liam’s steps became lighter, completely silent.

He moved forward smoothly, closing the distance.

The bouncer on the left raised his hand, palm out, his voice firm. "Hey. You can’t come back here."

Liam didn’t stop.

The bouncer stepped forward, his hand reaching out to grab Liam’s shoulder.

And Liam slipped past him.

Not around him.

Not through some gap.

He just moved, his body angling sideways in a way that shouldn’t have been possible, his speed carrying him past the bouncer’s outstretched hand before the man’s fingers could close on anything.

The bouncer blinked, his hand grabbing empty air. "What the—"

Liam was already behind them, pressed against the wall on the other side of the corridor, completely out of their line of sight.

Both bouncers turned, looking around, confusion written all over their faces.

"Did you see where he went?" one of them asked.

"I don’t know, man. He was right there."

Liam stayed perfectly still, his back against the wall, watching them from the shadows.

’This skill is amazing.’

The bouncers looked around for a few more seconds, then one of them shrugged. "Fuck, must be another fighter messing with us."

"Yeah, maybe."

They returned to their posts, still looking slightly unsettled but clearly deciding it wasn’t worth making a scene over.

Liam waited until they were facing away from him again, then started moving down the corridor, his steps still silent, his presence barely registering even if someone looked directly at him.

The hallway opened up into a wider space with doors lining both sides. Each door had a brass plaque with a single letter etched into it.

B. R. W. M. A. S. H.

Liam moved slowly now, checking each door as he passed. Most were quiet. But as he approached the door marked W, he heard something.

Voices.

Muffled, but definitely there.

He moved closer, pressing his ear lightly against the wood.

Two men. Maybe three. He couldn’t make out the words clearly, but the tone was conversational. Casual.

Liam’s hand moved toward the door handle.

And then it opened.

Liam reacted instantly. He moved fast, his body slipping to the side.

An older man stepped out first.

He was in his sixties, maybe older, with neatly combed gray hair and a well-tailored suit that probably cost more than most people made in a month.

His face was lined with age, but his posture was straight, his movements controlled. He had the kind of presence that came from decades of being in charge.

"I don’t like it," the man said, his voice calm but firm. "The way that animal fights. It’s too brutal. Too messy. There’s no finesse to it. Just raw violence."

Behind him, a younger man stepped out.

Around Thirties, Also in a suit, but he carried himself differently.

Like a soldier. His hand rested casually at his side, fingers near the hilt of a sheathed sword strapped to his belt.

"You’re absolutely right, sir," the younger man said evenly. "No skill. Just savagery."

The older man waved a hand dismissively. "I came here because it was expected of me, not because I enjoy watching men crush each other’s skulls like grapes, I would have preferred Kaleb attending this instead"

The younger man nodded in agreement. "It’s beneath you, sir. These spectacles aren’t worthy of your time."

The older man sighed, adjusting his cufflinks. "I’m too old for this. These fights are for younger men with stronger stomachs."

"Heh... heh heh." The laugh came out thin and reedy, his chest barely moving.

"Completely understandable, sir."

They walked down the hallway, leaving the Williams booth behind.

Liam stayed hidden on the opposite side, eyes fixed forward.

The older man.

’That’s him. Tasha’s uncle.’

Thoughts piled up. Fast. Ugly. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞

End this. End everything.

His hand closed. Forearm tightened.

One step. One motion.

Freedom for Tasha.

Safety.

Silence.

His foot slid forward.

Then stopped.

Breath locked halfway in.

Time stretched.

Footsteps echoed. Calm. Unaware.

The younger man spoke again. Normal tone. No fear.

Liam stood there too long.

Heartbeat hammered against his ribs.

Doubt crept in. Sharp. Cold.

His jaw set.

Waiting ended.

No more thinking.

Weight shifted forward again. This time without pause.

Liam’s body coiled, ready to strike.

And then the younger man stopped.

Just stopped.

Mid-step.

His head turned swiftly, directly toward where Liam was hiding.

Liam froze.

The man’s gaze locked onto the space where Liam was hiding.

’Shit... he saw me.’
