Lunar Legacy: Rise Of The Beastlord-Chapter 290: Beastlord Skill
Jayden's eyes widened slightly. A sword that could cut through anything. Now that was the real definition of cool. And it was incredibly tempting.
He wasn't exactly a swordsman but his mum had taught him the fundamentals of using a blade effectively. He could fair well than most with a katana.
But the blade was more than his current shop points.
"Alright. Bookmark for later," he murmured.
Then he switched to consumables, expecting potions and temporary buffs like he did weeks earlier. But it seemed the system had done some modifications to the consumable section.
And this time, what he found was far more interesting.
[Consumables]
[Ambrosia Vial -
*Description:
The nectar of the gods. Consumption grants complete healing of all wounds, removal of all toxins and curses, and a temporary 24-hour boost to all physical attributes (+20%).
*Price: 150,000 Points Per bottle]
[Phoenix Tear -
*Description:
Collected from the legendary firebird during its rebirth cycle. Can be used to instantly revive from fatal injury ONE time within 60 seconds of death. Does not prevent death, only reverses it.
*Note: Only one of this item exist in the System Shop
*Price: 10, 000,000 Points]
"Whoa," Jayden breathed in awe. "A literal resurrection item. Is that even possible?"
[It sure is] Luna chimed in smugly. [And trust me, this isn't even the coolest resurrection method. The God of Speed could literally bring souls back from the death plane if he ran fast enough]
Jayden chuckled in disbelief. "No way. That's… actually insane," he murmured. "I didn't even know resurrection was possible. And now I have an item of resurrection just sitting there in the shop. This is like… the most fascinating thing I've ever encountered."
[And it's also probably the most expensive thing in the shop] Luna pointed out. [You can only use it once though. Is your life worth 10,000,000 points?]
"My life is worth whatever I need it to be worth," Jayden replied. "But yeah, that's a 'break glass in case of emergency' purchase. And it's not like I have ten million shop points right now."
He kept browsing, finding various stat-boosting consumables, temporary transformation items, and even something called [Mead of Poetry] that supposedly granted perfect memory retention for 48 hours.
After nearly an hour of browsing, Jayden leaned back in his chair, rubbing his eyes. He'd filled a mental notepad with items of interest:
Priority Purchases (When Affordable):
- Mask of Anansi
- Cloak of Nyx or Shroud of Whispers
- Raven's Mantle
Future Goals:
- Kusanagi Blade
- Phoenix Tear
Jayden did the math. He had just over 2 million. He could afford the full stealth setup—mask, shroud, and mantle—with extra points to spare.
But he wasn't ready to purchase them just yet.
He closed the artifact tabs and noticed something he'd missed before.
At the very bottom of the shop interface was another category, but this one was still greyed out:
[Beastlord Skill & Abilities]-LOCKED
(Unlock at Level 40]
Jayden's eyes narrowed. "Beastlord skills? Luna, what the hell is that?"
[Exactly what it sounds like] Luna replied. [Skills specifically designed for someone with your… unique situation. Beast related abilities, enhancement techniques, probably some taming or control mechanics. But it's high-level content. You're not ready yet]
"Level 40," Jayden muttered, checking his current status.
[Current Level: 16]
[Exp: 2220/6700]
Twenty-four more levels to meet that criteria. That was a lot of hunting. A lot of battles. And a lot of risk.
But if those skills could make him stronger—make his Lycan form more controllable, more powerful—it would be worth it.
"Fine," Jayden said, closing the shop interface. "I'll get there. But first…"
He opened a new browser tab on his laptop and typed:
"Sapphire Sonic"
The search results were sparse. Far sparser than Jayden had expected for a beast species.
Most of the links were old—decades old—archived research papers and obscure mythology forums.
[Sapphire Sonic - Ancient Speedster Beasts
*Classification: Legendary (Possibly Extinct)
*Appearance: Cheetah-like physiology with pure white fur and luminescent blue spots. Reports indicate blue energy trails when moving at high speed.
Note: This was the description gotten from an anonymous source more than two centuries ago. No one has ever seen a Sapphire Sonic up close to confirm this features.
*Abilities: Unmatched terrestrial speed. Some accounts claim the ability to briefly phase through solid matter at peak velocity. Highly intelligent.
Jayden leaned forward, reading intently. He'd been curious about the beast ever since the day he had an encounter with it in the forest, he just never got the chance to do some research on its origin. But now he did.
[Historical Record of the Sapphire Sonic- Dr. Helena Voss, 2043
"Sapphire Sonics are among the rarest beasts ever documented. Pre-dating even the earliest Galactic Beast migrations, they are believed to have existed for thousands of years. Ancient civilizations revered them as divine messengers.
Most intriguing is the mythological connection to Mercury, the Roman god of speed. Several texts claim that the Sapphire Sonic was not a naturally occurring species, but rather common cheetahs blessed—or cursed—by Mercury himself, transforming them into beings of pure velocity.
If true, this would make them the only known beast species created by divine intervention rather than evolutionary or extraterrestrial origin.
But this of course is just a myth. It is not factual."
Jayden read through all the articles, his mind assimilating every detail.
[You're still thinking about taming her] Luna said, her tone amused.
"She's powerful," Jayden replied. "And if the myths are true, she's only going to get stronger as she matures. Having a Sapphire Sonic as an ally—"
[You mean as a pet] Luna corrected with a chuckle.
"No, as a companion," Jayden insisted, "It would be a massive advantage. But I need to understand her nature first. What she responds to. What she needs. Why she even marked me."
He continued reading, piecing together fragments of information.
Sapphire Sonics were solitary creatures. They didn't hunt in packs. They didn't form bonds easily. But when they did bond with someone—chose a partner—it was absolute. Unbreakable.
The key was proving yourself worthy. Showing strength, yes, but also speed. Agility. The ability to keep up.
Jayden glanced at his hands, remembering the feel of his Lycan claws. His speed in that form was impressive, but could he match a Sapphire Sonic?
"Not yet," he admitted quietly. "But maybe after I unlock those Beastlord skills…"
He bookmarked several research papers for later reading and closed the laptop.
The clock on his nightstand read 1:47 AM.
Jayden stood, stretching his sore muscles, and moved to his bed. His body was still healing from the fight with the Ancient Flare—subtle aches and phantom pains that would fade by morning.
As he lay down, staring at the ceiling, his mind continued to churn.
Fred knew his secret.
Cassandra hated him.
Jessica… well, that situation was complicated in about seventeen different ways.
But he also had options now. Tools he could acquire. Power he could unlock. A path forward, even if it was shrouded in shadows and uncertainty.
"Luna," Jayden said into the darkness. "Tomorrow I hunt. I need experience. I need levels. I need to get stronger."
[Alright] Luna chuckled. [And the day after?]
"I'll figure that out when I get there."
[Sure you will] Luna said. [Goodnight, Jayden]
Jayden exhaled. "Goodnight, Luna," he closed his eyes, letting exhaustion finally claim him.
Tomorrow would bring new challenges. New threats. New opportunities.
But tonight, for just a few hours, he would rest.
And dream of running alongside a white cheetah with glowing blue spots, fast enough to outrun even his own demons.
