Loving The Cursed Werewolf King-Chapter 782: Peach And Her Mysterious Brother
"I’m Ari," answered Arielle, while accepting Peach’s hand.
"Only Ari?"
"Yup. Only Ari."
"Which city are you from? Maybe we live in the same place. I can visit you when you come back to Nieverdell."
"I’m from the capital."
"Ah... A very faraway place. My village is on the border between Wolgast and Nieverdell."
"You’re going home? Why not use the land route? Doesn’t it take a long time to use the sea route?" asked Arielle.
"Initially, my brother and I decided to go home by land. We can use the Northendell trade route as well to collect more money, but it turns out that the trade route is in the middle of a conflict. My brother doesn’t want the money we earn to be robbed by the bandits, so we decided to use the sea route."
"Then, you will stop first at the harbor in Thebis?"
Peach nodded in approval.
Arielle asked many questions about the situation in Nieverdell. Peach said politics in Nieverdell were in turmoil. Many noble families were trying to dethrone King Archie from his position. They also protested a lot regarding Princess Arielle who married King Ronan from Northendell.
Arielle scowled. She had not heard of this before. Archie always said that Nieverdell was fine. There was no bad sentiment with what had happened.
"Then? What did King Archie do?"
"I don’t know, the last thing I heard before going to Northendell is the late queen’s family wanted to conduct an investigation regarding the flame in the palace, as well as the death of all members of the royal family in one night."
Arielle was now increasingly worried about her brother’s condition. Archie always said he was trying his best, and the royals understood his condition. In his letter, the man never wrote anything about those conflicts. He hid everything that happened in Nieverdell.
"You know what’s even crazier?"
"What?"
Peach came closer.
"Before the investigation began, Princess Andrea’s uncle accused Princess Arielle of committing all the crimes."
"Huh? What does it mean?" asked Arielle confusedly.
Peach explained that Princess Andrea’s uncle told the new Palace Councils that it was actually Princess Andrea who had been prepared to marry King Ronan, but the plan was put on hold, waiting for the sentence for Prince Alexis of Northendell to be suspended.
However, it seemed like Princess Arielle was jealous of this and hired assassins to attack the palace when people in the palace were off guard.
Arielle’s breath got heavier after hearing that. How could they lie so easily?
"So? What happened next?"
"Nothing. King Archie testified that his younger sister was not involved in the tragedy that killed almost all the people in the palace that night. He said that there was no evidence of Princess Arielle’s involvement."
Arielle let out a long sigh. She looked up at the sky. It turned out that the political conflict in Nieverdell never stopped. She felt sorry for her brother. The man had to face internal conflicts, as well as external ones.
Archie was also actively neutralizing the border areas. The man must be very busy. However, Archie still took the time to reply to all of her letters. Arielle hoped Archie would not forget to take care of his health and have a rest.
Peach turned around and then put her elbows on the iron railing of the ship behind her.
"I don’t care about all that political conflict. The most important thing is that I can still eat, work to make money, and marry the person I love," she responded, making Arielle smile.
"Do you already have a boy you like?" asked Arielle.
She looked at Peach once more. The girl was probably the same age as Irene.
"Of course. He is a merchant from Wolgast. He’s my age. I met him when we lived in Northendell. My brother and I were opening a stall in Northendell for the queen’s coronation festival and I met him with his mother there. We stayed in one inn."
Arielle covered her lips when she felt like laughing. Peach’s round face was really adorable when talking about the boy she liked.
"Peach?" called someone. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
Arielle and Peach turned together and found a man in a coat with a hood covering his face. The man’s hand held a plate of bacon and boiled potatoes that were still steaming. Arielle observed the man carefully.
Her gaze was fixated on the man’s amputated left arm. It reminded Arielle of the man who helped her avoid the crowds in the port city of Northendell. It was impossible for two different people in the same condition to be in the same place, right?
"Uh... Sir?" called Arielle who wanted to ask if the man was the one who helped her back then.
If it was true, Arielle really wanted to show her gratitude because at that time, she had not had time to say it as the man left just like that.
Arielle tried to approach the man, but the man hastily turned around.
"Simon?" called Peach.
Arielle touched the man’s shoulder.
"Sir, is it possible that... you were the one who helped me? The one who helped me escape from the crowd in the port city back then?"
The man shook his head, but somehow Arielle was certain that the man was the same person. Arielle, once again, had not had time to say thank you because the man quickly walked away, leaving her alone.
Arielle then followed him and wanted to make sure of it.
"Sir? C-could you turn around for a second?" asked Arielle who had difficulty following the fast pace of the man.
"Your Majesty!" called Lucas.
"Simon!" Peach exclaimed.
Arielle kept asking whether the man was the same person. She almost slipped due to the slippery floor of the ship, but Lucas, who was on guard behind her, quickly caught Arielle’s body before she fell backward.
Because it was already night, the time the waves got fierce, the crashing of the waves that hit the ship spilled onto the floor of the ship, making the floor slippery.
"Thank you, Lucas."
