Chapter 716: The Uncomfortable William

William took a deep breath and then stretched his body. He approached the princess.

"I’m not a man of many wills. Whatever you make, I will gladly accept it."

Irene shook her head. "No, don’t be like that. Lord Kael also said the same thing, but I didn’t accept that kind of answer, and in the end, he chose a picture of a sword as well as my initials because I am the one who will make it."

"Ah... I see..." William didn’t really want to talk about stuff like this at the moment. He just wanted to get some fresh air. Yet, he had to think about childish things like this. William scratched his forehead, pretending to think. However, behind that, he was actually thinking about how to avoid Princess Bertha in the next meeting.

Aimee saw William’s face, which seemed not too focused, while Irene was still waiting patiently. William looked up and locked eyes with Aimee for a moment. Aimee immediately knew that the man didn’t want to be disturbed.

"Princess. It looks like William isn’t feeling well. We can ask him again tomorrow. Let him think about it tonight. We can ask Lazarus first. How about it?"

Irene turned to Aimee and looked back at William who was smiling uneasily. "Sorry, Princess. This will be the first gift I will receive from you. It will take a long time to think about it before I come to a decision."

"Oh, I see... Alright."

Aimee then invited Irene to go with her, leaving William who still stood in his place. The man cursed after no one was around. He unbuttoned the top button of his jacket and walked out into the freezing courtyard. He needed to cool his head because he felt annoyed, ashamed, and guilty.

"You look messy. Did Grandma Bertha’s words bother you that much?" asked someone who also stood under the falling snow.

William turned his head and found Ronan who was dressed in light clothes while holding a glass of wine in his hand.

"That’s how it is. What about you? What are you doing here in light clothes? Won’t you catch a cold?"

"That’s my goal," Ronan replied casually, raising the glass of wine to his mouth.

"Huh? What do you mean?"

He glanced at William with a mischievous look. Seeing Ronan’s smirk made William sick. He perfectly knew the man’s purpose.

"You two are husband and wife. Without you making any strange excuses, if you want to visit her room, you can just visit her straight away. Why did you trouble yourself by doing this?"

"William, since when was the last time you had sex with a woman?"

"Hah? What do you mean?"

"I think you’re getting boring," Ronan said with a chuckle.

"HAAAAH!!?? Say it one more time! What do you mean by that?! Who keeps me so busy like this so that I don’t have time to play!?" William shouted in annoyance, making Ronan scratch his ear because the man’s voice was really shrill.

Ronan reached into his pocket and took out a bag of coins then threw it to William.

"What’s this?"

"Look for women out there. Don’t pretend to be innocent. I know you’re still playing with women in the capital. Maybe Lazarus has stopped because he already has Aimee now, but you don’t have a partner."

William gripped the bag of coins tightly. His sharp gaze didn’t scare Ronan at all. Ronan was still relaxed even though the man was looking at him with a piercing gaze.

Ronan reached into his pocket again and added another small bag of coins.

"Drink the contraception potion first. I don’t want something like Crimson to be born again."

"Ehehehe ... This is enough money to play with. Thank you. I promise I’ll be back before dawn!"

Ronan finished his wine while looking at William who was sprinting with light steps toward the stables. William turned around again and waved his hand while thanking him once more.

Ronan, who felt he was cold enough, finished his wine and walked casually to Arielle’s room.

His hand lifted to knock on the girl’s door.

"Who is it?" Arielle asked from inside her room.

"It’s me," Ronan answered in a low voice.

Not long after, Arielle opened the door. Ronan could see that his wife was wearing a thin evening gown. It didn’t belong to her. He knew all of his wife’s evening gown, and the one that Arielle wore definitely didn’t belong to her.

"Ronan..."

"Arielle, I’m cold," Ronan said in a flat tone. He planned to use a more seductive tone, but seeing his wife’s body his head suddenly went blank.

Arielle held her evening gown then invited Ronan to enter the room. It felt a little strange because all this time, she and Ronan had always spent the night together.

Aimee explained that it was likely that Grandmother Bertha still thought the king and queen slept in separate rooms. The previous king and queen before Ronan and Arielle had different rooms to sleep in. Thus, the Whitethorn Palace belonged to the queen, while the Blackthorn Palace belonged to the king.

However, that tradition didn’t apply to Ronan and Arielle. The two of them agreed to share a room together. However, when they stayed at Grandmother Bertha’s residence, they were provided with two different rooms.

"Ronan, what are you doing to be this cold? Has something happened?" asked Arielle who was worried if her husband would fall sick due to wearing very thin clothes on a very cold night like this.

She tiptoed to brush the snow off her husband’s head. Ronan helped the girl by lowering his head slightly.

"I just ran into William and spoke to him outside for a bit."

"Both of you can talk inside. If it’s like this, you can get sick. Aren’t we going to continue our journey tomorrow?" Arielle asked then held Ronan’s hand.

Arielle invited the man to sit on the couch by the fireplace while she took a cup of tea that the servant had brought to accompany her on reading a book she had borrowed from the library.
