Loving The Cursed Werewolf King-Chapter 526: Arielle Meets The Werewolf Clan
Arielle was sitting with Maxieno and several other dragons. Otis didn’t join them because Maxieno knew well that Otis would never agree to his plan. The old man always thought that every matter was negotiable, but for Maxieno this was the perfect time to attack the werewolf clan.
Using the excuse that one of their clan members had entered his territory and tried to steal the dragon egg, Maxieno would not spare the wolf clan like the previous clan leader. He would drive them far beyond the borders to make them realize that only the dragon clan ruled on Birwick Mountain.
Amadea was long dead, and no one could save Birwick Mountain. No one was more worthy of guarding Birwick Mountain other than the Dragon Clan. Birwick Mountain’s guardian status was rightfully his. Amadea was too weak, and the Sun God had made a mistake in choosing Amadea as the guardian of Birwick Mountain.
After all, Amadea was defeated by the humans and a woman. He didn’t deserve to be a god. It should be the dragon clan who got it, and Maxieno was sure that the Sun God was watching him right now. Why would the Sun God give this much power if not because he was appointed as Birwick Mountain’s guardian?
Maxieno’s confidence was increasing because Arielle was with him now. The girl had power on par with him. Even though she was only a lowly human, Maxieno was quite amazed by Arielle’s ability that exceeded Otis.
Otis wasn’t even able to destroy the diamond dagger. Besides, after Xavier, there were no more dragons capable of doing it. They were all too weak.
Maxieno would send Arielle to the territory of the werewolf clan while taking Arthur with her. The girl would be the new negotiator besides Otis. Maxieno reminded Arielle to say that Arthur didn’t open his mouth regarding the werewolf clan’s intention that ordered Arthur to steal the eggs.
Arielle had to say that Arthur was just lost, and Maxieno would forgive the man for his mistake. Arthur would soon come back to the werewolf clan. Then, Arielle had to make sure the location of the snowdrop flower based on Otis’ instruction before.
Arielle would also try to get Irene out of there secretly, but if she was caught, then the dragon clan would appear to help Arielle.
"Are you sure you can do it?" Maxieno asked.
Arielle nodded. "I am very confident."
Maxieno then gave a necklace with a small whistle to Arielle. "Blow this if the first method is discovered. We will appear right away," he said.
Arielle received the necklace. She would use it well. She then smiled at Maxieno. "Thank you very much," said the girl.
"We’ll go at night so Arielle can sneak around."
Maxieno left the meeting room. Arielle was still in her place, watching the dragons, which one by one left her. She had to get the snowdrop flower immediately because tomorrow night was the full moon, and Arielle had to lift Ronan’s curse right away. Otherwise, they would have to wait another month for the next full moon.
This was Arielle’s first mission. During the chaos in Nieverdell, Arielle couldn’t do anything. She just ran away and let Ronan and the Northendell knights come to rescue her. Now at least Arielle had the power to join the fight.
Arielle tried to erase her pity. The werewolf clan never considered Theodore’s descendants as their people even though they were also werewolves despite their imperfections. Besides, they also kidnapped Irene since childhood, tortured Arthur, and made both of them their slaves.
Arielle tried to calm herself while preparing her mentality. Everything had to be quick yet carefully. If Arielle was a day late, Ronan had to wait another month again. She had to make it tonight.
Arielle closed her eyes, then opened her line of communication with Ronan. Since yesterday when she had received Maxieno’s acknowledgment on mastering her power completely, Maxieno no longer tried to see what was inside her head. Arielle also tried to call Ronan many times, but all she got was silence. She thought Ronan might be busy, so she closed the line again.
This time, Arielle tried again, but there was still no answer from the other side, making her let out a long sigh. She then cut off the line of communication again.
***
The night came. Arielle had changed into darker clothes. Maxieno was waiting in front of the castle with several other adult dragons. Some young dragons also came to see Maxieno and the captured werewolf.
Arthur was released, but his hands and feet were still tied in chains. Maxieno gave the key for the chain to Arielle, and he only allowed her to release the chains when they arrived near werewolf territory. A young wolf threw a rock at Arthur and hit the man in the head until he bled.
"Hey!" Arielle shouted, trying to stop them from throwing the rocks.
Maxieno had no intention of stopping them because Arthur deserved to be thrown by those rocks after planning to steal one of the dragon eggs. A dragon hissed and growled loudly as Maxieno told Arthur to get on his back. Arthur said sorry before climbing up. Meanwhile, Arielle also climbed onto Maxieno’s back.
"I will take a bath for seven days after tonight. Don’t look for me after this, Lord Maxieno," said the dragon, feeling disgusted that a werewolf was riding on his back.
Maxieno didn’t reply. He just told his dragons to be ready in the formation they had agreed. After that, they flew up into the sky. Arielle closed her eyes because the wind was blowing so hard on her face as Maxieno soared up into the sky, followed by the other dragons.
Arielle could only breathe a sigh of relief when Maxieno flapped his wings steadily and stopped maneuvering. Her heart was pounding hard with adrenaline that rose up high. She had never felt this scared before. Arielle looked down and saw that the castle was getting farther away. To her right, the moon shone very brightly. Because soon the full moon would come, the moon was almost perfectly round, making Arielle look at it in awe.
It felt like she was very close to the moon. The sparkling light surrounding her helped Arielle calm down. Was the Moon Goddess watching her right now? Could she really do it and lift Ronan’s curse tonight? Arielle opened her eyes, and the shadow of the moon reflected in her sparkling blue irises.
"Yes, I can definitely do it," Arielle said confidently. "Ronan, please wait for me for a moment."
They flew through the sky for a while. The distance to the werewolf clan’s territory was quite far. However, Arielle could faintly hear the howling of a wolf from a distance. It seemed Maxieno also heard it too because he maneuvered again to dive down and transform into a human. Arielle, who was surprised that Maxieno suddenly turned into a human when they were still in the air, hugged the man’s neck from behind. Then, they gently descended until her feet finally stepped on the ground properly.
"Don’t transform without giving me a hint. I thought I was going to fall earlier," said Arielle, making Maxieno smile.
Several dragons followed suit. Far different from Maxieno and Arielle, Arthur fell to the ground with a loud thud because the dragon he was riding didn’t want to help Arthur to descend slowly.
Arielle rushed to help Arthur stand up.
"Are you okay?" she asked.
Arthur nodded while holding his aching hand because he fell from quite a high place. He was actually confused whether to turn into a wolf or not. If he turned into a wolf, then his clothes would be torn. After all, it was the clothes that Otis gave.
"We will wait from here. Arthur, you will lead Arielle into the werewolf territory. Don’t do anything funny. We’re still watching you," Maxieno said.
Maxieno raised his hand, and the dragons scattered in the darkness of the forest. Arthur was given permission to transform into a wolf. He went to one of the big trees, then took off his clothes one by one and folded them neatly so he could return them to Otis later. He then transformed into a black wolf with red eyes.
Arielle was amazed. If she didn’t know that it was Arthur, maybe Arielle would have thought that it was Ronan. However, Ronan had a long scar on the right side of his face. Besides, Arielle couldn’t hear Arthur’s mind like how she could hear Ronan’s.
"Are you ready?" Arielle asked.
Arthur nodded his head and asked Arielle to come with him.
The two of them walked through the forest in the middle of the night. Luckily, the moon was very bright tonight, and some fireflies helped Arielle to see the way. From a distance, Arielle could hear a commotion until they finally arrived at a wooden gate that was quite high.
A brown wolf approached Arielle and transformed into a human.
The man tilted his head to examine Arielle.
"Human?" He then glanced at Arthur. "And ... The Mud face?"
"Hi, good evening. I am Arielle. One of the negotiators of the dragon clan after Lord Otis," Arielle said while holding out her hand, asking him for a handshake.
The man looked at Arielle suspiciously. He grabbed the bone trumpet tied to his pants and blew it three times.
In an instant, Arielle and Arthur were surrounded by many wolves. Even though her heart was beating really fast and her legs started to tremble with fear, Arielle forced herself to keep smiling, so she looked friendly and harmless.
The gate was open. The two flames on the torches sticking near the wooden gate moved when a giant wolf, probably bigger than Ronan, came out. Arielle immediately lowered her head feeling intimidated. The wolf continued to approach until Arielle could see the grey fur that was now standing in front of her.
The giant wolf sniffed Arielle several times.
"Yes. There’s a disgusting scent of dragons and Otis on you. What is your purpose here?"
"I came because one of the dragon members found a werewolf that had entered the dragon clan’s territory quite deep. And Lord Maxieno wants to return him."
The wolf suddenly turned into a human. Long grey hair with green eyes stared deeply at Arielle.
"You can come in. I will take care of you since you already know Otis."
