Chapter 285: Can He Really Wait?

Ronan also locked his office from the inside, then took off the mask he was wearing. Arielle stood in a daze as she watched the man shoo Lazarus away.

"Didn’t you call Lazarus?" asked Arielle who was still looking at the door that was knocked loudly from outside by Lazarus.

"You don’t have to worry about him. He will go away on his own."

"But-"

Ronan grabbed Arielle’s waist and invited her to sit on the sofa with him. The girl looked around the room. It felt like she hadn’t visited the room in a long time. She saw many piles of books and papers on Ronan’s desk.

"You went straight back to work? Not resting first?" asked Arielle who was worried remembering William and Lucas’ story that Ronan never rested and was always overworked.

"Ah, that... you don’t have to think about it. I just do this in my spare time."

Arielle turned to Ronan with an expression of disbelief. Judging from the pile of books and papers up there it seemed like it was a job that had been delayed for quite a while.

Ronan laughed then pinched Arielle’s cheek. "I can’t lie to you, can I?"

Ronan stretched his body, then lay down on the couch and rested his head on Arielle’s lap.

"Ah, how long have I not rested like this? What a relief..."

Arielle stroked Ronan’s hair which was still neat. She didn’t want to ruin that neat hairline.

"What makes you feel relieved?" asked Arielle while looking at Ronan’s closed eyes.

"I’m relieved that you’re by my side now."

"That relief?"

"Of course, Arielle." Ronan slowly opened his eyes, and his red irises met Arielle’s jet-black irises. The man reached out his hand to touch the girl’s dangling hair. "Because I can see you all the time. You’re already home with me."

Arielle smiled shyly and nodded. "I’m home," she replied in a whisper.

Ronan smiled wryly and replied, "Welcome back."

"Ah, about this afternoon."

"About this afternoon."

Arielle and Ronan opened the conversation at the same time. The man grabbed Arielle’s hand, so they could hold each other.

"Ronan, I am thinking... we shouldn’t share a room until... we are married."

"Huh?"

Ronan was so surprised when he heard Arielle’s request. He even got up and looked at Arielle in confusion.

"Why? Did I make a mistake? Did I make you uncomfortable? Arielle, why all of a sudden?" asked a panicked Ronan.

"It is nothing. You didn’t do anything wrong. Please calm down..." Arielle grabbed Ronan’s hand and then looked at him attentively. She reached out her hand and stroked the side of Ronan’s face which had a scar.

"You didn’t do anything wrong," said Arielle once again trying to calm the man in front of her.

"Then, why don’t you want to sleep with me again?"

"Sorry if I made this decision without asking you in advance. It’s just that I have discussed this with Tania. It’s only natural for us to share a bed after marriage."

"I still do not understand? Then, where is the problem if we do it before the marriage?"

"If anyone sees us sharing a room, some people will definitely talk about it. I don’t want bad rumors about you to circulate around the kingdom."

Ronan was silent for a moment. He did not understand what rumors Arielle meant. The reason Arielle had given him couldn’t satisfy him enough. It didn’t make sense to him.

Moreover, he had been holding back all this time. The thought of Arielle in red lingerie had haunted him every night, and he thought he would get it tonight.

What’s more, Arielle still didn’t seem to remember the promise she had made.

Ronan stood away and sat back in his chair. Well, he should respect Arielle’s wish if that was what the girl wanted. She just said not to share a room right? Did that mean he still had a chance to do it outside the room?

Arielle became worried by Ronan’s change of attitude. That man kept his mouth shut and sat down in his chair.

"Ronan?" called Arielle to ask his opinion.

Ronan was still silent, not because he planned to ignore Arielle. He just thought of a way to get rid of that girl’s anxiety.

"We’re not going to do it until we get married?" asked Ronan seriously.

Arielle got up from the sofa to stand in front of Ronan’s desk. "I-I think it’s better that way."

Then, he needed to hasten their marriage. Ronan had agreed to Arielle’s request to hold a simple wedding by inviting only a few friends and family.

He had sought the opinion of Priest Louise, Priest Elis’ father who was also the former Head of Cathedral during his father’s reign. That man was willing to marry the two of them, and Priest Louise said it would be best if they got married a month or two later so that Arielle’s marriage and coronation wouldn’t be too far apart.

The wedding preparations could be done quickly, but Ronan wanted to give his best in the ceremony of the coronation of Arielle as his queen. He wanted to invite the nobles throughout the mainland and show them that Arielle was a woman worthy to stand beside him.

Ronan growled softly. To do all those tasks would take months. Could he really wait until they got married? He glanced at Arielle who was still looking at him expectantly. Arielle’s innocence could sometimes be so dangerous that Ronan wanted to have her every night in his embrace.

"Ronan?"

(I can do it! I won’t disappoint Arielle just because I can’t control my hormones! I’m a grown man who can control my desires) Ronan said in his mind.

Ronan then smiled at Arielle. He reached out his hand asking Arielle to hold it.

"I understand your concern. I can wait."

Arielle’s worried face slowly started to relax and she smiled brightly again. Ronan wanted to hug her tightly, kiss her until she was out of breath, play his tongue on her warm mouth, and touch her beautiful chest... (Stop!)

Ronan tried to stop his fantasies. Just thinking about Arielle made him horny. He brought Arielle’s hand in front of his face, then kissed the girl’s knuckles for a long time.

"I love you. Just having you by my side like this is enough."

"Thank you, Ronan."

"You didn’t reply to my confession?"

"Hmm?" Arielle tilted her head in confusion. Ronan smiled widely and said it again.

"I said I love you."

"Ah, I love you more," replied Arielle wholeheartedly.
