Chapter 272: Ambrose Residence

"It’s been set then. After this, we can go straight to the Ambrose residence," Archie said.

"Right now!?" asked Arielle in surprise. Arielle didn’t expect to leave so soon.

"Hm... not right now, you have to finish your breakfast first, right? I’m going to talk to Lord Kael while you prepare yourself."

Lucas chuckled at Arielle’s surprised face. Tania grabbed the bowl of soup and fed Arielle slowly. The old lady smiled when Arielle looked at her with sparkling eyes.

"Training to be a queen, eh?," Tania mumbled while giggling, making Arielle’s face and ear blush.

Arielle and Sasha had been escorted to the Ambrose residence, a castle located near the capital. The first impression that Arielle got from Ambrose’s castle was spooky and gloomy. Not much interior installed. Only one or two paintings were hanging in each room, reminding Arielle of Northendell castle.

"Welcome to the Ambrose residence," said one of the servants, who greeted Arielle and Archie.

Arielle was a little embarrassed to return their greeting because she was in Kael’s arms. Both of her legs were sprained and the doctor told her not to move too much if she didn’t need to. That was why Kael helped her. Started from lifting her from the room to the carriage and getting off the carriage again.

Tania, Lucas, Johan, and Archie had agreed not to tell Ronan about this. Ronan only knew that they had moved to the Ambrose residence without knowing that Arielle was being carried by Kael. They didn’t want to lose their knight commander because of someone’s jealousy.

Archie pointed to a room on the second floor, a room for Arielle to stay in. Sasha was put in a different room, next to Arielle’s.

"You like this room?" Archie asked after Kael laid Arielle on the bed.

Arielle looked around and nodded with a satisfied face.

"This room is great, and the view is also impressive," replied Arielle honestly.

Archie turned to the side and saw the half-opened bedroom window. The man took the initiative to open it wider so that Arielle could freely see the view of the expanse valley in the distance.

"This castle has a spectacular view, right? I hope you recover quickly so you can visit the lovely rose garden behind the castle. The rose garden here is much more beautiful than the one in the palace because my grandfather loved roses very much."

"Oooh, I see. Then, where is Duke Ambrose? I want to greet him."

"My grandfather is not in the castle. He will return at noon. That’s why I used this opportunity to sneak away to meet you."

Arielle couldn’t imagine Archie sneaking away to leave the castle. Somehow, it sounded... exciting.

"Then, I will leave you with Tania. I have to finish some of the work that I left behind," Archie said.

Arielle nodded, then waved her hand as Archie left. Not long after, Tania and Lucas returned to accompany Arielle until noon.

Lucas let out a long sigh at the sight in front of him.

"The scenery in Nieverdell is absolutely magnificent. I haven’t had time to enjoy the scenery here," said the man with his mouth hanging open slightly, admiring the view in front of him.

"Lucas, you’ve never been to Nieverdell before?" asked Arielle.

"Never. My job is to manage everything in the palace. Lord William is the person in charge of negotiating and conducting external relations with other kingdoms. Therefore, only Lord William has ever been to Nieverdell. Perhaps Lord Lazarus has also visited Nieverdell on one of his journeys over the years. As for Lord Kael himself, there may have been times when he had to deal with neutral area border conflicts."

An adoration towards the scenery of Nieverdell flickered in Lucas’ eyes reminded Arielle of Sasha when the boy felt the warmth of the sun for the first time.

"Is this what they call summer? It’s truly extraordinary. My heart was beating really fast when I saw this bright world. I mean, even on the sunniest day, Northendell still has a gloomy air. However, this place is so colourful."

"Hm... I’m curious. Was it true that Northendell was a fertile country back then?" asked Arielle who suddenly remembered about the legend of Northendell during the festival celebration in the town square that time.

Lucas turned back and sat on one of the chairs beside Tania, who was knitting.

"Legend says so. However, I don’t know how long it had been. It might have been a hundred years ago. I started to doubt if it really happened or if it was just a delusion our ancestors have," Lucas answered bitterly.

"Still, I hope the Princess will not change her mind about returning to the North. Even though we don’t have the sunshine as bright as Nieverdell, I promise Northehndell will give whatever the princess wants," he added while cupping both his hands together.

Arielle laughed at Lucas’ pleading expression. Without him doing that, she had already placed her heart on the North. No need to lure her anymore.

Their conversation slowly began to subside. Arielle started to feel bored just sitting around doing nothing, so he called Lucas, who was daydreaming by the window.

"Lucas," she called.

The man walked closer to Arielle. "Is there anything I can help you with, princess?"

"Err... if you don’t mind. Could you ask Brother Archie to lend me a book? I’m... a bit bored just sitting around doing nothing."

"Ah, okay! I’m here to serve you, so I’ll get it for you. Please wait a moment, I’ll be right back," said the man before disappearing behind the door.

The bedroom door opened again. Arielle thought Lucas had already returned because he forgot something. It turned out that an old man with a wooden stick supporting his body came to visit her.

It was Duke Ambrose, the owner of this castle who was also Archie’s grandfather. The old man looked older than Arielle expected. All of his hair had turned white, so his thick moustache. He wore a small pair of glasses perched on the tip of his nose. His expressionless face made Arielle feel a bit intimidated.

Just like the appearance of his castle, Duke Ambrose looks like a gloomy person.

"Welcome to our residence, Your Highness Princess Arielle Dellune. I hope your journey here is not too tiring," said Duke Ambrose in a trembling voice.
