Loving The Cursed Werewolf King-Chapter 213: Why Is Archie Helping Arielle?
Arielle turned to Archie. What now? Why was Archie being nice to her? Weird. This was the best treatment Arielle had ever received from her siblings.
Back when she was little, Archie was also one of the people who bullied her along with Andrea and the others. Archie had once called her a wizard’s spawn until Alexis stopped them.
"Thanks for the bandages and medicine, Archie."
"No problem."
"Why didn’t you hit me?" asked Arielle so suddenly it made Archie chuckle.
"Would you rather I hit you? I don’t mind if you want it."
Arielle shook her head quickly. That was not what she meant. She was just confused because she felt strange about Archie’s sudden kindness.
"Well, to be honest, I don’t really care about you. I have made a deal, so I have to keep you from getting hurt."
"A deal?"
Archie nodded. "Oh, did you know you were going to be married off to Duke Pellington?"
"What?" asked Tania and Sasha at the same time in surprise. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
Sasha stepped forward.
"Maybe you heard wrong. Princess Arielle will only marry His Majesty King Ronan and will not marry another man!" said the boy vehemently.
"Of course, I know about it." Arielle removed Tania’s hand from her head. She stood up to face Archie. The man’s smile was formed because he felt that this was the first time Arielle had dared to look him in the eye.
"Archie, can we talk for a bit?"
Archie shook his head.
"Of course, I don’t want to. I don’t want to be seen alone with a witch’s spawn," he replied sulkily.
Sasha started to growl, but Arielle restrained him from starting a fuss.
"We can talk here."
"Then that’s fine."
"No!" cried Sasha. "You are the most suspicious man I have ever met. I will not leave you alone with the princess! I will be here to protect her!"
"Arielle, can you get your little dog to stop barking?" Archie asked Arielle.
"What are you saying!?"
"Sasha," Arielle called softly. She grabbed the boy’s shoulders and pulled Tania to come with her. Gently, Arielle led the two to leave the room. "Only a while. Please wait here first."
Arielle then closed the door to her room. Sasha, who was not willing to leave Arielle alone, walked here and there feeling anxious. Tania just silently stared at the door of the princess’s room, being prepared if something untoward happened.
She knew that she shouldn’t worry too much because the two of them were just talking. But that man was Archie, one of Arielle’s brothers who had also bullied her in the past.
Also... Prince Archie was already famous for killing someone very easily even though the man looked friendly and kind on the outside.
"Should I break the door down?" Sasha asked Tania.
The woman shook her head slowly.
"No need. We’re just here on standby," she replied.
In the room, Arielle approached her brother and allowed Archie to sit on her bed. She grabbed a wooden bench that was often used to sit while painting.
"Archie, you said earlier that I was going to be married off to a man named Duke Pellington?" asked Arielle.
"Hm-hm, that’s right."
"And you know that I too have been proposed by His Majesty King Ronan of Northendell?"
"Yup."
"Sorry if I sound stupid, but why did His Majesty the King accept two proposals at once? Then who will I really marry later?"
Her heart ached at the fact that her father had intended to marry her off to someone else. Arielle held the pit of her heart that was in pain. She wanted to go North. She wanted only to marry Ronan.
"Well, Duke Pellington proposed to you first. That man came when you went to the North and brought two wolves as a sign of his seriousness. He also offered something that will strengthen Alexis’ position. Of course, dad wouldn’t let go of the opportunity and accepted his proposal. After all, to them, you’re just a burden here... When someone wants you and offers something bigger for having you, of course, they won’t refuse."
"I’m not an object," Arielle muttered sadly.
"I know, but that’s the truth. The Royal Family didn’t like you, and they used the opportunity to get rid of you."
"Then why did His Majesty the King accept King Ronan’s proposal?"
"Of course, to take advantage of the man to give us many things."
Arielle gasped. She didn’t expect that her father would go this far.
"But wouldn’t that just lead to a conflict? What if the North doesn’t accept it?"
Archie laughed loudly, making Arielle look at him in confusion. The man got up from the bed to approach Arielle. His hand touched the girl’s neck gently, then took out the necklace Ronan had given her.
"Of course, the person who gave this necklace wasn’t that stupid. Do you think Ronan is a man who loves peace? Unfortunately, no."
Arielle didn’t understand what Archie meant. "Hmph... maybe you don’t understand what I mean. But until the time comes, you will understand by yourself."
"Then what deal made you have to look after me?"
"Ah, I’ve said too much. I should go," said the man, then turned to leave Arielle.
Arielle also stood up to follow Archie, she grabbed the man’s shirt and both of them stopped walking.
"Archie... one more."
"Are you really helping me for a mere deal?"
Archie glanced back. There was a pause for a moment, and then the man nodded. "Yes," he answered simply.
Archie left Arielle’s room. Sasha and Tania rushed to Arielle to make sure that the girl wasn’t hurt in the slightest.
Arielle’s last question bothered Archie quite a bit. He knew that he had just made a deal with someone to keep Arielle from getting hurt. But deep down, he only felt guilty.
It happened ten years ago, on Andrea’s birthday. He, Andrea, and his three other siblings have made a mistake. Andrea and the others didn’t see it because Archie did it.
