Love You for the Rest of My Life-Chapter 159 I Knew He Would Definitely Come
Bo Chengyan sucked hard on his cigarette, wheezing and coughing with every drag. Somehow, it made him feel marginally better.
"Doctor Bo?" A surprised femminine voice cut him off abruptly.
Bo Chengyan looked up to find a nurse from his hospital.
She seemed suddenly nervous looking at him. Just how did Bo end up in such a state?
"Doctor Bo, are you... are you alright?" She was frightened by his distressed state, given that he has a reputation in the hospital for being gentle and kind.
Bo Chengyan froze, letting the burning cigarette linger between his fingertips. He couldn’t help but see Gu Qibao in the nurse’s confused, frightened, trembling, and incredulous demeanor.
He was rooted to the spot, staring at her. Suddenly, his eyes started to sting. What exactly had he lost in the process?
Only when the burning cigarette bit into his fingertip did the pain force him back into his senses.
"I’m fine." Bo Chengyan discarded the cigarette, mustered a weak smile, and gently patted the frightened nurse. "Everything’s fine."
After speaking, he walked away. The nurse looked at his departing figure and pouted. Doctor Bo seemed so lonely, so hurt. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
........
Bo Chengyan made his way to Bo Chengxin’s ward. She was staying alone in an upscale suite, with their mother Cheng Xinlan keeping her company.
When Cheng Xinlan saw him, she gave a start and quickly got up. "What happened, son?"
He looked awful, his face pale and drawn beneath the sallow skin, the fatigue and sorrow etched clearly in his eyes.
"I’m fine." Despite his wan state, Bo Chengyan remained gentle. He patted his mother and said in a low voice, "You should go home and rest now, mom. I’ll keep an eye on things here."
"Don’t you have work today?" Cheng Xinlan asked in surprise. Ever since Bo Chengxin’s injury, Bo Chengyan seemed to be constantly on vigil. Weren’t there other matters in the hospital he had to attend to? Surgeries to perform?
"I’ve set everything up." Bo Chengyan did not elaborate further, "Just go home and get some rest."
Although Bo Chengyan was invariably courteous and kind, his words left no room for dispute. Cheng Xinlan nodded and turned to leave, "Alright, I’ll go home for now and come back later. Please talk some sense into your sister."
"Okay," he nodded, watching his mother exit the suite before turning back into the ward.
He glanced at the figure on the bed, devoid of any life, silent and still as a marionette. The sight of the bulky bandage over her hand was a jarring, painful sight.
Bo Chengyan took a deep breath and went over to the bed. He lightly touched Bo Chengxin’s forehead, checked her eyes to ensure she wasn’t experiencing any major complications, then poured her a glass of water.
"Brother." Bo Chengxin looked at the glass of water extended towards her. She finally turned her eyes to Bo Chengyan, her voice raspy as though squeezed out from her throat.
Suddenly, she gripped his hand harshly, "Brother, has he agreed to come?"
"He has agreed," Bo Chengyan’s gaze dropped, resting on the water glass, watching as her grip caused the water to slosh out onto her hand. But she seemed oblivious to it.
"He agreed?" Bo Chengxin murmured, her body seemed to relax a bit.
Bo Chengyan retracted his hand and sat the glass of water down, he picked up a napkin from the bedside table and wiped her hand dry.
"I just knew he would." Bo Chengxin suddenly laughed, speaking as much to herself as to Bo Chengyan.
