LOVE IN PARIS: Married To My Brother-in-law-Chapter 30: Down The Mountain
"There’s no need to cause a scene over something as small as a forgotten cellphone. I’ll just grab it and return quickly". Yvette waved off her idea.
"Okay. Don’t be long and also be careful on the way". Lola agreed and waved at her as she turned to her heels and ran back into the mountain
The drizzling soon turned into a steady rain and the path up the mountain was growing more and more slippery.
Her boots struggled to find traction on the wet rocks but she kept pressing on, her eyes scanning the ground for her phone.
She retraced her steps, moving faster with the urgency of retrieving her cellphone and returning to the inn for a proper rest before the heavy downpour which seems inevitable at the moment.
Just as she thought she saw the spot where she had left it, a sharp voice cut through the air.
"Do you really think you’ll last km this industry even with Ezekiel by your side. Hmmph" .
Yvette needed no soothsayer to tell her who it was. Nadia still clad in the period costume for the drama approached with a smirk that barely hid her contempt.
"Let me tell you, to him you’re but a lousy object to fulfil his desires". She stepped few feets closer. "Or don’t tell me you think he’ll cherish à second handed product like you".
Yvette couldn’t be bothered with her rantings and she instead focused on looking for her phone , ignoring her. Afterall the earlier she got out of here, the better. She’d also spent the previous night taking care of Leila without getting an ounce of sleep and now all she wanted was to rest , if not to sleep.
She had no interest of engaging with Nadia in her battle of words at the moment, but her silence only seems to enrage Nadia even more.
"Do you even hear me ?". She spat angrily, her face twisted in anger.
Still, no response but stillness.
Frustrated and annoyed, Nadia suddenly stepped forward, her hands pushing Yvette roughly. "Are you deaf or pretending not to hear me ".
The ground beneath them was slick and Yvette who was standing by the edge of the mountain was unprepared for the sneaky and sudden attack immediately lost her footing and her body went tumbling down the steep, wet mountainside.
She tried to grab onto something in her horror , anything to stop her fall but the mid and rain had turned the slope into a dangerous slippery side.
Nadia stood at the top, momentarily stunned at what she had done, and soon her shock quickly morphed into a cold, calculating smirk.
She hadn’t initially intended to push her down the mountainside but instead to annoy her and make her feel worthless but now . .
She glanced around and seeing that no one was nearby to witness the scene, she rushed down the mountain and towards the inn with a pale face, feigning distress.
"Help, somebody help". She began shouting as she got to the entrance and upon getting inside she was immediately surrounded by people asking for what happened, trying to soothe her nerves and calm her down so she could explain.
Her voice trembled as she explained how Yvette had unfortunately slipped down the mountain so fast and how she was too terrified to help so she came back asking for help.
"Holy shit. I’ll go look for her. Phone for help immediately". Director Cole cursed enraged, tying his boots and as soon as he stepped out of the inn, the rain began, pouring in heavy torrents, heavy and unrelenting, making it impossible for anyone to possibly go down the slippery mountain which would now be very dangerous in search of her.
Panic set in among the cast and crew as they immediately stopped Director Cole from moving any further, now it was raining and the mountainside was too dangerous with the rain.
"Director, I’ve already phoned the emergency. Help will arrive in few minutes".
The cast and crew could only watch him pacing to and fro worriedly, waiting for help to arrive and Nadia cries only made the situation more worse and chaotic.
"Senior, help will soon arrive".
"Don’t cry anymore, she’ll be save".
"Senior . ."
"Senior . ."
Nadia hid her satisfaction behind her mask of concern, smirking victoriously inwardly as she cried, regretting that she wasn’t of much help and everyone clamoured around her, calming her and telling her not to beat herself up.
Time passed by slowly with everyone waiting in fear meanwhile Leila who had just received Yvette’s bag from Lola asked why Yvette wasn’t around yet nd upon hearing her reply she couldn’t sit still any longer. The slope was dangerous and now coupled with the rain . .
She was about heading out to look for her when she ran into Mary, Nadia’s manager.
"Here". Mary handed her the supposedly missing phone. "I found it near the mountain trails when I was packing up, everyone had left so I brought it back to find it’s owner. I asked around a d discovered it was for your artiste so i brought it over".
"Thanks". Leila accepted the cellphone and asked. "Have you seen her anywhere . ."
Just then Lola came back breathlessly, recounting what Nadia had explained to the set to her, how Yvette had fallen over the mountain.
Leila dashed outside nkt waiting for her to complete her sentence. The rain was still pouring down heavily and everyone had settled down helplessly, the emergency help still hasn’t arrived.
Director Cole asked the others to retreat inside to rest after a long day if work as tge storm intensified and everyone retreated inside to wait and at this point , they could only pray she was safe and had perhaps taken refuge in a cave nearby.
Leila stood outside in the rain, drenched as she stared down at the darkened mountain, her heart filled with dread.
In desperation, she suddenly remembered Zeke. Thankfully she knew the password to access Yvette’s cellphone, after an attempt the phone was unlocked ,her hand shook as she scrolled through the contacts stoping at Zeke’s.
His contact was already on speed dail so she called him for help without hesitation.
