Chapter 41: Chapter 41: "Can You Help Me Tie My Tie?

Mrs. Harrison.

Hearing this unfamiliar title for the first time, Rory Linden took a second to realize it was directed at her.

"Please don’t call me that. I’m not used to it." Rory Linden’s gaze fell on the jewelry in the box. "Is this jewelry very expensive?"

"Expensive! Every single one of these gems is priceless on its own, let alone as a complete set!"

The stylist hovered her hand over the pieces, wanting to pick one up.

After deliberating for a long time without being able to decide, she finally turned to Rory Linden. "Mrs. Har—... Miss Linden, all three of these sets match your dress perfectly. Which one do you prefer?"

Rory Linden had pierced ears, but as a doctor, she wasn’t allowed to wear any jewelry at work.

Coupled with her financial situation, her experience with choosing and styling jewelry was practically zero.

As for the sets in the box, the moment she heard the stylist call them priceless, she didn’t want to choose any of them.

But considering her role for the day, she still asked, "How about... you help me pick an inexpensive one?"

"Hm?" The stylist glanced at Rory Linden, then nodded hastily. "In that case, let’s go with the pearls. Pearls are the most suitable match for a qipao anyway."

"Okay."

Rory Linden agreed.

The stylist took out the few sets of pearl jewelry from the box and tried styling them on Rory Linden.

In the end, she decided on a matching set.

The pearls in this set weren’t particularly large, but each one was uniform in size with an excellent luster. The necklace was just the right length to encircle the mandarin collar of the qipao.

The matching earrings weren’t gaudy either, just a single, simple pearl dangling a few millimeters below her earlobe.

For her wrist, the stylist had originally wanted to put a jade bracelet on Rory Linden.

Unfortunately, the woman’s wrist was too slender, and none of the jade bracelets that had been sent over were a good fit.

Just as the stylist was holding up a watch, about to have Rory Linden try it on...

The sound of an electronic lock disengaging came from the door.

Sean Harrison opened the door and walked in.

It was just sunset.

The evening sun streamed through the floor-to-ceiling windows.

Rory Linden, her look now complete, was standing by the sofa. Hearing the footsteps, she turned toward the sound.

The warm, golden afterglow was like a paintbrush, tracing a line from the woman’s delicate face down her slender neck and slim waist, ending its stroke at her straight, fair calves.

The entire scene was like a painting.

And she, the subject of the painting, was so beautiful it was impossible to look away.

The moment Sean Harrison saw her, a sliver of regret actually surfaced within him.

He regretted asking her to accompany him to Miles Harrison’s engagement party.

A woman as perfect as a flawless piece of jade would naturally attract the attention of many men.

He was afraid of others coveting her, afraid someone would steal her away from him.

Rory Linden had no idea what Sean Harrison was thinking.

Seeing the way he was scrutinizing her, she felt a little insecure and asked cautiously, "Mr. Harrison, this qipao... does it not fit well?"

"You look beautiful. The dress suits you perfectly."

Only then did Sean Harrison suppress his inner conflict and step forward.

The stylist at his side quickly handed over the antique watch she was holding and explained, "Mr. Harrison, her look is almost complete. All that’s left is a bracelet. None of the jade bracelets in this box are the right size for Miss Linden, so I was about to have her try on this watch."

Sean Harrison first asked Rory Linden, "Do you like this watch? If not, I’ll have my assistant pick out a few suitable bracelets and send them to the banquet hall for you to choose from there."

"No need, the watch is fine. It’s quite nice."

Rory Linden didn’t know much about watches, so she couldn’t see anything particularly special about this one.

The craftsmanship was exquisite, but the style seemed a bit old-fashioned.

’It’s probably not as expensive as those jade bracelets, right?’

In her mind, those jade bracelets were incredibly expensive. If she accidentally bumped or dropped one and it shattered, she might have to spend the next ten years of her life working just to pay for it.

"Alright then. I’ll help you put it on."

Sean Harrison took the watch from the stylist and personally fastened it onto Rory Linden’s wrist. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂

The stylist stood to the side, watching. Once the watch was on, she said, "Mr. Harrison, Mrs. Harrison’s look is now complete. If there’s nothing else you’re unsatisfied with, I’ll be taking my leave."

Sean Harrison looked at Rory Linden.

Only after Rory Linden expressed her satisfaction did the stylist leave.

Sean Harrison looked at the somewhat uneasy woman and suggested, "Would you mind helping me pick out an outfit to match your qipao?"

"Yes, of course."

Rory Linden quickly agreed.

The suggestion was rather unexpected for her.

Typically, when a man and a woman attend an event together, the woman’s outfit is chosen to match the man’s, not the other way around.

Rory Linden followed Sean Harrison to the walk-in closet of the suite.

The closet was enormous and clearly divided into two sections.

Sean Harrison’s clothes occupied only one half, while the other was almost entirely empty.

Sean Harrison said, "I’ll have the housekeeper put your clothes and the jewelry over on that side."

"The jewelry is staying here?"

Rory Linden was surprised.

She had assumed the jewelry was rented or borrowed just to go with her qipao!

"I had Ms. Chapman’s daughter help pick them out. They’re a gift for you. You’ll have to attend these kinds of events in the future."

Sean Harrison’s tone was casual.

As if he weren’t talking about jewelry worth millions, but pieces of glass that cost a few dollars.

"I... I can’t accept these. And I probably won’t have any opportunities to attend events like this again."

Rory Linden couldn’t figure out what Sean Harrison meant. A possibility occurred to her, and without a second thought, she blurted out, "If you’re worried I’ll cause a scene at the engagement party, I won’t."

Sean Harrison’s brow furrowed slightly. "Do you remember what I said?"

Rory Linden asked, "What?"

"Most things you regret, I can help you fix." After repeating his words deliberately, Sean Harrison continued, "That includes regretting your rejection of Miles’s offer to get back together."

"I don’t want to get back together with him. I’m sorry, I just..." Rory Linden finally got her thoughts in order and explained, "Maybe to people of your status, these are just ordinary gifts. But to an ordinary person like me, they’re far too valuable. I can’t accept them."

Sean Harrison desperately wanted to tell her.

That after Clara Chapman had selected many options, he had personally reviewed every single piece.

It was the first time he had personally chosen a gift for a woman who wasn’t family.

And as he chose, he worried about whether she would like them.

He never expected that, in the end, Rory Linden would think he saw them as ordinary gifts.

But unfortunately, he couldn’t say any of that. He could only change the subject. "Help me pick out my clothes. We might hit traffic at this hour."

"Okay."

Rory Linden quickly picked out a dark suit with a subtle pattern for him, along with a dress shirt, and finished by choosing a tie in a shade somewhat similar to her qipao.

She waited at the door for him to change.

A few minutes later, Sean Harrison walked out of the closet, holding the tie she had just selected.

He held the tie out to her and asked, "Could you help me with this?"
