Chapter 115: Chapter 115: The Man Has Another Side She Doesn’t Know

Everything happening before her eyes was just like a scene from a movie.

Rory Linden took a second to react, then spun around and yelled at the doctors who had followed her with a stretcher, "Don’t come over here! Stay back!"

The two doctors stopped in their tracks.

Rory didn’t have time to process what was happening. The first thought that popped into her head was—

Protect Sean Harrison.

As long as no one else saw this.

Maybe, just maybe, there was still a chance to salvage the situation.

The two doctors quickly halted.

The two bodyguards and Sean Harrison all looked over.

When Sean Harrison saw that it was Rory Linden at the door, his expression faltered slightly.

The entire scene seemed to freeze.

Rory turned, rushed over to the doctors, and took the stretcher from them. Only then did she say, "Please wait for me downstairs. I’ll call you if I need any help."

The doctors were confused.

Rory said in a firmer tone, "Miss Willow isn’t wearing any clothes. I’m going to help her get dressed first."

The two male doctors exchanged a look, but ultimately left.

Rory dragged the heavy, folded stretcher into the room by herself.

Then she turned, closed the door behind her, and locked it.

The two bodyguards stood by the side, not daring to move.

After Rory entered, the atmosphere in the room turned somewhat bizarre.

Sean Harrison was still sitting there, motionless.

Rory left the stretcher by the door and hurried over to Nadia Willow to check her vital signs.

’Okay.’

’Okay.’

Nadia Willow’s eyes fluttered open when she saw Rory approach.

’She’s still alive.’

As Rory leaned closer, the distinct smell of blood hit her. But there was so much red liquid all over Nadia’s body, staining everything, that it was impossible to tell where she was injured.

She hadn’t brought any equipment with her, so she couldn’t determine Nadia’s current condition.

After a basic check, Rory asked Nadia, "Can you move?"

Nadia Willow gave a slight nod.

Rory took the clothes she’d brought with her out of her bag.

Then she said to the others in the room, "I’m going to help her change. Close your eyes."

Both bodyguards turned to face the wall.

Rory didn’t dare look at Sean Harrison’s expression.

She helped Nadia wipe the red liquid off her body and change her clothes.

Then she brought the stretcher over, placed it next to Nadia, and helped her lie down on it.

She then had the bodyguards help her set up the stretcher.

Throughout the entire process, Sean Harrison remained on that chair, completely still.

Rory didn’t spare him a single glance.

She didn’t dare to.

She was afraid that if she looked up, she would see an unfamiliar expression on that familiar face.

Right now, her first priority was to save a life—to keep Nadia Willow alive.

’Whatever grudge or hatred existed between the two of them, it didn’t justify murder.’

As Rory was pushing the stretcher out by herself, Sean Harrison finally stood up.

"Rory Linden—"

"Don’t come near me, don’t say anything, and don’t follow me out!"

Rory didn’t even turn her head.

She stood at the doorway, facing the closed wooden door.

"Sean Harrison, I’m taking Nadia Willow with me. I won’t tell anyone I saw you here. We’ll just say Miss Willow fell and I came to help her."

Rory’s hands gripped the metal frame of the stretcher tightly.

She opened her mouth as if to say something, but changed her mind. "I don’t know anything, and I didn’t see anything. You don’t need to explain anything to me."

’Other things could be explained, but what explanation could there be for this?!’

’There was no room for explanation at all.’

’Her own eyes had already told her what had happened.’

Rory didn’t dare to imagine what the result would have been if she had arrived just a little later.

She didn’t dare to dwell on any of it. She just hoped that Nadia Willow would be all right.

Rory opened the main door by herself and pushed the stretcher out.

Once in the hallway, she took out a sanitizing wipe and cleaned the red liquid off the stretcher’s wheels.

Thankfully, the building’s elevator was working.

She took the elevator and pushed the stretcher downstairs alone.

Only then did the two doctors approach.

The Elysian Hospital ambulance was equipped with a lot of advanced medical devices.

After Nadia Willow was loaded into the ambulance, the doctors immediately hooked her up to various machines.

Rory had previously said that Nadia had fallen.

After checking the vitals on the monitor, a doctor asked, "Did she just fall in the shower?"

Looking at Nadia’s EKG, Rory couldn’t bring herself to lie. "I’m not sure. Let’s run some tests back at the hospital."

Normally, she would have been off duty by now.

But she didn’t dare leave.

There were many things she was afraid of...

But she realized that what she feared most was Nadia Willow waking up and calling the police.

Rory had always believed that the first thing to do when encountering danger was to call the police.

But right now, all she could think about was waiting for Nadia to wake up and clarifying the situation.

’If... if Sean Harrison really did do something illegal, she would apologize on his behalf. She’d have to hope Nadia wouldn’t call the police and see if they could reach a settlement.’

Rory didn’t go into the emergency operating room, waiting instead in the hallway outside.

She didn’t know how long she waited, but she suddenly remembered the video from a few days ago and opened her work email.

She had previously blacklisted the email address that sent the video.

She hadn’t received any notifications for the videos it sent; they were automatically sorted into her spam folder.

When Rory opened it, she discovered that in the time since, that address had sent her three more videos...

She hesitated for a moment, then clicked on the video labeled [2/4].

The phone screen went dark.

Then, a man’s hand, bound in chains, appeared in the video...

The exposed skin of his arm was covered in bloody scratches, with barely an unmarred spot left.

Rory suddenly realized that the condition of this arm looked exactly like Nadia Willow’s dress...

She then watched the video labeled [3/4].

The camera panned to another person.

The person’s chest was rising and falling noticeably. They had to be alive...

The camera moved slowly, getting closer and closer to the person’s face...

Then it stopped abruptly.

Previously, Rory had thought the person in the video might be Sean Harrison.

But after what had just happened, that idea was shaken.

Sean Harrison might not be the person she thought he was at all.

Or perhaps... the man had another side she knew nothing about.

Just as Rory was about to click on the last video, a doctor walked out of the emergency operating room.

"How is Nadia Willow?"

Rory quickly put her phone away.

The doctor gave a brief summary of Nadia’s condition.

She had signs of being struck on the head and might have a mild concussion, but there were no obvious external injuries on her body.

Most importantly, Nadia Willow seemed to have ingested some kind of drug, and all of her bodily functions were poor.

They would need to run further tests to identify the drug.

"I... I’ll go in and see her first."

Rory volunteered.

She was terrified that Sean Harrison had used a banned substance on Nadia, like gamma-hydroxybutyrate.

If that were the case, and Nadia reported it to the police, Sean Harrison would very likely go to jail.

The doctor said, "The patient is out of danger for now. She can be moved to a ward."

Rory quickly replied, "Then... then I’ll take her to the ward."

After getting approval, Rory went to the emergency observation room and pushed the gurney Nadia was lying on toward the inpatient department.

Nadia Willow was conscious.

Neither of them said a word the entire way.

After getting her to the hospital room, Rory carefully wiped her down and helped her change into a clean hospital gown.

"Thank you," Nadia Willow said, looking up at Rory from the bed. "Do you have any questions for me? Go ahead, ask."

Rory began cautiously, "Miss Willow, can you tell me what happened?"
