Love at First Sight? Mr. Harrison Has Been Scheming All Along-Chapter 107: "President Harrison and I Just Have an Ordinary Monetary Relationship.
Rory Linden spent the day with her colleagues from Elysian Hospital, visiting four kindergartens in total to give the children basic physicals.
’Perhaps all little young masters are alike.’
Many of the children gave Rory the strange feeling that she was seeing a young Miles Harrison all over again.
They naturally thought the world revolved around them.
They didn’t know how to wait in line and felt it was only natural for everyone to give way to them.
It led to several squabbles.
By the time they left the last kindergarten, Rory could finally breathe a sigh of relief.
A few of the doctors and nurses she was with made plans to go to dinner together.
Rory glanced at the time and suddenly made a decision.
Sean Harrison was always the one to pick her up. Since she’d finished work early today, she thought she might go to his company to see him.
Rory declined her colleagues’ invitation and prepared to leave.
"Dr. Linden." Evan Hollis caught up with her. "I have to get back to the hospital for my shift. Where are you headed? Want to share a cab?"
Evan Hollis had been a great help to her throughout the day.
Rory didn’t hide her plans. "I’m not going back. I’m going to pick up my boyfriend from work."
"Is that President Harrison we met last time?" Evan Hollis asked with a grin. "He’s a lucky man to have a girlfriend like you."
"He’s picked me up so many times, and it’s rare for me to get off work early," Rory explained.
A ride-share car pulled up, and Evan Hollis gestured to Rory. "Let me change my destination and drop you off. It’s rush hour, so it’ll be hard to get a cab."
Rory didn’t refuse this time.
She didn’t have the driver take her all the way to Sean Harrison’s company building. To save the driver from having to turn around, she got out at an intersection a block away.
It was early autumn in September. The hottest part of the day had passed, and the breeze carried a slight chill.
Rory looked up at the building a short distance away, which bore two large words: Panda Tech.
As she neared the building, she noticed a very cute panda sculpture in the plaza out front.
’Sean Harrison...’
’He seems so serious. I never would have thought he’d like cute things.’
Just as she reached the foot of the building, Rory took out her phone and had just dialed Sean Harrison’s number when...
A hand shot out from nowhere and snatched the phone from her grasp!
"What are you doing?!"
When Rory looked toward the voice, she was met with the sight of a gaunt, savage face.
’Gary Sinclair?!’
Rory jumped in fright. She instinctively tried to run, but Gary Sinclair grabbed her arm!
"Starry, where are you off to?"
Gary Sinclair’s palm was coarse, his fingers powerful.
He gripped Rory as if she were long-coveted prey, refusing to let go!
"Let go!"
Rory frantically tried to shake him off!
She didn’t want any contact with this man whatsoever.
She didn’t even care about getting her phone back; she just wanted to run as far away as possible!
Just then, two men appeared out of nowhere and rushed over to stop Gary Sinclair.
"Don’t you come any closer!"
Gary Sinclair pointed the hand holding the phone at the two men.
His other hand still held Rory in a death grip.
The two men were dressed in plain T-shirts, and the exposed sections of their arms revealed distinct muscle definition.
Seeing Gary Sinclair holding Rory, neither of them dared to take another step forward.
Gary Sinclair spat angrily, "Damn it. No wonder I’ve felt like someone’s been following me for the past few days. It was you two, wasn’t it?"
The taller man spoke first. "Let go of Miss Linden."
"Miss Linden, my ass!" Gary Sinclair yanked Rory to his side. "Let me tell you, she’s my daughter, Gary Sinclair’s daughter! Her name is Rory Sinclair, and she’s got my blood running through her veins!"
"Let me go!"
Rory couldn’t believe her spur-of-the-moment decision had caused such a mess!
"Shut the hell up!" Gary Sinclair glared at the two men. "I knew someone was following me these past few days. So it was you two bastards. What’s your game? Did Sean Harrison send you to follow me?"
Gary Sinclair glanced at the phone in his hand.
The name on the screen was Sean Harrison.
The call was connected.
It had been connected for over ten seconds.
Gary Sinclair put the phone to his ear. "President Harrison, my daughter and I are right outside your company."
A cold voice came from the other end of the line. "Both of you, come up."
"Alright, alright," Gary Sinclair said with the air of a common thug. "Then how about we settle the marriage arrangements today? You can go ahead and give me the bride price."
"If Rory Linden has a single scratch on her, I guarantee you won’t get a cent."
Sean Harrison spoke very slowly, and his words were clear and resonant.
Gary Sinclair’s thuggish expression faltered for a moment. "She’s my daughter. What would I do to her?"
After the call ended, Gary Sinclair yanked on Rory’s hand. "Come on. Let’s go up and meet my son-in-law."
"Gary Sinclair, have you no shame? You took the money and ran all those years ago. You haven’t cared about me at all, so what gives you the right to come back and demand money now?!"
Rory struggled, trying to wrench her hand free.
But Gary Sinclair’s grip was too tight.
In his eyes, he wasn’t holding his daughter, but a cash cow that could provide him with limitless wealth!
He dragged Rory toward the building.
The two men from before followed them.
When they reached the entrance of the building, Sean Harrison’s special assistant, Ethan Dixon, was already waiting for them.
He led them upstairs.
This was Rory’s first time at Sean Harrison’s company.
’I never thought it would be under such humiliating circumstances.’
Company employees, security guards, and the receptionist all stared as she was dragged into the elevator in front of everyone.
It was utterly humiliating.
But she couldn’t break free from his grasp.
Gary Sinclair was naturally greedy and lazy; there was no way he’d let go of his cash cow.
Inside the elevator, Rory shifted slightly, and Gary Sinclair made a motion as if to kick her. "Behave, damn you!"
"Mr. Sinclair, please remember what President Harrison just said," Ethan Dixon reminded him coolly.
Gary Sinclair immediately put on a placating smile. "Just scaring her a little. It’s not like I actually kicked her."
The elevator ascended all the way to the top floor.
The elevator doors slid open slowly, revealing Sean Harrison standing just outside.
He scanned her from head to toe, and his expression softened slightly only after confirming she was unharmed.
His gaze fell on the hand Gary Sinclair had clamped on Rory’s arm. "Let go."
"Why should I?!" Gary Sinclair sneered. "My daughter’s all grown up and doesn’t listen to her old man anymore. If I let go now, what happens if you don’t give me the money?!"
The entire top floor housed the executive suite, with the secretarial and assistant offices on one side, and a reception area and Sean Harrison’s office on the other.
Though no one was visible in the hallway, the employees in the executive office were all craning their necks, eavesdropping on the drama.
Rory was past caring about any of that. "What money?! Gary Sinclair, President Harrison and I don’t have the kind of relationship you think we do!"
"Shut your damn mouth," Gary Sinclair snarled. "President Harrison himself said he’s going to marry you!"
Sean Harrison had already given Gary Sinclair over five hundred thousand.
Rory was afraid Sean would give him even more money.
Hundreds of thousands, even millions, might be a small sum to a man like Sean, but Rory didn’t want Gary Sinclair to get a single cent of it!
"I need money. President Harrison and I just have a simple transactional relationship—a temporary one," Rory said, turning to look at Sean Harrison. "Right, President Harrison?"
