Love Across the Light Years -The Devil CEO Indulges My Lies.-Chapter 39: A major twist of fate was waiting for her.
After disconnecting the call, Karl was visibly exhilarated —as if he had finally obtained the missing piece needed to make his little plan succeed.
When he turned around, his gaze paused on Eira’s face.
She had tilted her head up, looking at him with quiet curiosity —as though silently asking if the call had something to do with the plan that would bring her Mama back.
For once, Karl read her eyes perfectly.
Or perhaps ... he simply guessed the obvious.
He immediately sat beside her, eager to share the news.
"Our plan is going to be successful," he announced confidently. "Your Fourth Uncle has managed to get his hands on the perfect trump card to help us."
Eira’s face brightened up at once, her eyes shining.
"Then does that mean Mama will meet Eira soon?"
Karl narrowed his eyes playfully, building suspense, before brushing a finger gently down her nose.
"Little Eira won’t just meet her ... she will get to stay with her every day."
"Really?"
Her joy was almost too big for her small body to hold. Just the thought made her bounce slightly in her seat. She will finally get to stay with her mother.
"When has your Fourth Uncle ever lied to you?" he asked, pouting in mock offense.
Then his gaze drifted into the distance, his lips curling with a smug satisfaction —clearly far too pleased with himself.
"I have prepared everything. Even Old Demon won’t be able to refuse this time."
A glimmer of playful mischief sparkled in his eyes. Although he was confident in his plan, somewhere in the corner of his heart, he was still a little bit nervous.
This should work. There is no other way.
Eira, on the other hand, didn’t understand his plan. She didn’t understand his words either.
But she understood one thing —whatever he was doing ... it was going to bring her Mama back.
And that was all that mattered to her.

Meanwhile —
At the same time, Adelyn received a call.
She was sorting through a stack of documents when Amelia’s name flashed across her screen.
"Yes, Amelia," she answered, tilting her head to one side and pushing the phone between her ear and shoulder so that her hands remain free.
There was a brief pause on the other end.
Just when Adelyn was about to assume the call had disconnected, Amelia finally spoke.
"Wait ... what’s gotten into you today?"
Adelyn stilled, her hands stopping momentarily amid the papers.
"You sound like you are in a good mood. I can feel it through the call."
Adelyn frowned slightly, her lips pursing in speechlessness. What kind of good mood would she be in while sorting her personal documents?
"You called me just to celebrate an imaginary mood you think I have?"
"How could I?" Amelia scoffed lightly.
"Then let’s not celebrate things that don’t exist," Adelyn replied dryly. "Tell me why you actually called so we can get to the point without unnecessary delay."
She could imagine Amelia’s lips getting pressed into a thin line.
"Alright, alright. Straight to business."
A brief pause.
"Freya arranged a meeting for you. I called to inform you."
Adelyn paused. "A meeting?" she repeated, and heard Amelia hum in confirmation.
"Yes. With a producer and a director. They are currently auditioning for one of their upcoming projects, and Freya has tried to recommend you. They held her in high regard before ... so they agreed to give you a chance."
Amelia’s tone sharpened slightly.
"She is using a very precious favor on you. You’d better not disappoint."
Adelyn’s fingers slowly set the documents aside and took the phone in her hand, switching to the other ear.
"When do I have to go and meet them?" she asked calmly.
"In the evening today."
Her brows lifted slightly.
"And where?"
"The Imperial View."
That was one of the most luxurious five-star hotels in the city.
Adelyn was slightly surprised at first, but then Amelia explained.
"They will be meeting a few investors there. We have to meet them someone around the same time."
"Understood," Adelyn replied. "I will be there on time."
Amelia hummed again. "Freya and I will meet you at the hotel itself. If you arrive early, wait for us."
"Noted."
And with that, they disconnected the call.
Adelyn stared at the documents spread before of her, then quickly gathered them and stacked them back into the folder.
If she wanted to reach the hotel in time, she would need to leave early. The hotel wasn’t close to her place.
Later, when she was leaving the house, Nigel appeared at her door, obstructing her path.
"What are you doing?" he asked when he saw her walking out.
Adelyn ignored him at first and simply stepped outside. Then she turned to him and asked, "What does it look like I am doing?"
He pointed at the door. "You are coming out of the house as if heading somewhere."
"Bingo!" she gave him a thumbs up and locked the door right in front of him. "You guessed it correctly. I am going out."
Then, remembering something, she added, "You can take the day off from practice. I will be having dinner out later."
Nigel nodded, tucking his hand into his pockets.
"Okay. But ... what time will you be back?"
Adelyn was about to step away, but she halted. Turning back, she eyed him suspiciously.
Her gaze like that made him uncomfortable.
Before he could react, she rubbed her chin and asked, "Why? Don’t tell me you are going to wait for me to come back."
Her eyes narrowed as she stepped closer to inspect him.
Nigel felt his ears heat up. Quickly reacting, he lightly knocked on her head.
"Shoo! Who wants to wait for you? I was just asking so you don’t call me back to cook a late-night meal."
She pursed her lips, then waved her hand dismissively.
"Don’t worry. I have no late-night meal plans. And even if I do, you won’t know in advance."
"You —"
Before he could continue, Adelyn had already walked away, waving farewell.
"Ta-ta, see you later. I will let you know when I get back. Until then, enjoy yourself."
As she left, she didn’t know tonight would be anything but simple for her.
A major twist of fate was already waiting for her arrival.
