“War slave?”

Shu Yichao and his White-haired Ghost Horsemen dealt with the Tibetan soldiers as they galloped through the town under the cover of the Eternal Blight. Soon enough, they encountered the enemy’s elite troops.

“How do they have 60 armor despite being unarmored?”

Shu Yichao was perplexed.

“I didn’t think there would be heavy infantrymen in a small town like this!”

With a chilling flash of light, he swung his modao down on the war slaves.

I’d rather deal with heavy infantrymen. They are too slow to flee. That makes it easier for me to secure the kills!

“Oyoyoy, my grandson!” Miazova was flabbergasted to see Shu Yichao charging straight at the war slaves. “Those are war slaves!”

War slaves were formidable foes. Their movements were slow, but they boasted indomitable might and bodies were as sturdy as metal. If they wore armor on top of that, their defensive prowess was enough to make anyone despair.

This was also why the Tibetans were so strong.

They had an army of incredibly terrifying heavy infantrymen!

Even Great Tang’s cavalrymen struggled to deal with them at its peak.

“Damn it!” Miazova spat. “It’s all three generations, and each one just frustrates me more!”

It raised its hand and cast ‘Nimble Feet’ on Shu Yichao, greatly boosting the speed of his charge. At the same time, it unleashed ‘Unravel’ on the war slaves, shaving away a bit of their defense.

Shoosh!

Shu Yichao easily sliced the war slaves into two.

He alighted from his steed, rammed the door open, and charged into the courtyard.

“Gwar!”

It took a second before the slow-witted war slaves charged at Shu Yichao. They might have been able to last a bit longer against Shu Yichao if they wore heavy armor, but it was a pity that wasn’t the case.

They could only rely on their sturdy bodies to take Shu Yichao’s modao, and the result was…

Psh!

Like a brittle egg encountering a metal hammer, foul fluids splattered around as the war slaves were reduced to minced meat.

“My little grandson!” Miazova cast ‘Enhanced Magic Resistance’ on Shu Yichao. “A mage must be nearby, controlling the war slaves. Be careful!”

“Got it!” Shu Yichao charged into the room with his modao.

He would have known as much, since the minimap indicated there was a hero here.

“What happened?!”

Baysema was shocked to find that, in just a matter of moments, she had lost contact with the war slaves she had dispatched to the streets and stationed in the courtyard. There could only be one possibility behind this. 𝔣𝖗𝖊𝖊𝖜𝔢𝔟𝔫𝔬𝖛𝖊𝔩.𝖈𝖔𝔪

The war slaves were dead.

“Could there be hundreds of elite soldiers outside, overrunning my war slaves in an instant?! Or did a monster appear outside?” Baysema felt incredulous. “Oi, you people, take the frontlines!”

Out of fright, she ordered the war slaves to guard the door and the windows.

Pah! Pah!

She tossed a couple of potions on the door and the windows, laying traps for the intruders.

However…

Psh!

A terrifying cold gleam emerged from the walls.

A modao sliced through the house to decapitate the war slave stationed near the window. It continued slicing along the walls like scissors cutting through paper, decapitating the war slaves along the way too.

“What in the…” Baysema’s eyes nearly popped out.

Kwang!

With the severing of the weight-bearing walls, the house collapsed on Baysema. Amidst the dust, she saw that there was only one person in the courtyard!

“Where did this monster pop out from?!” Baysema was horrified.

How can someone kill war slaves as easily as chopping vegetables?

Bam!

Knowing that her life was on the line, she unhesitatingly brought out all the valuable scrolls and potions she had kept for a long time, and hurled them at that terrifying silhouette. Following that, she murmured a chant.

Blue flames shaped like a majestic dragon surged at Shu Yichao. It was so hot that the air crackled like boiling oil.

“Hmph!”

Shu Yichao began twirling his modao like a top at an inconceivable speed, unleashing sword energy so powerful that it felt like it would tear the sky apart.

Faced with the sword energy, the blue flame dragon was shredded apart, till it finally dissipated as flame sparks. Some of these flame sparks did land on Shu Yichao, but they were unable to breach his glowing black-silver armor.

Baysema felt like her brain was going to stall to a halt.

Can spells be unraveled with sheer physical force too? That’s unheard of!

There’s no way an apothecary like me can deal with such a monster. I need to run!

‘Nimble Feet’, ‘Violent Gale’, ‘Flitting Steps’…

Baysema used the remaining magic scrolls on herself before leaping onto the roof and fleeing. As she ran, she glanced behind to check if Shu Yichao was on her back.

“Hm?!”

One of her potions made her eyes glow with a tinge of starlight, allowing her to see even in absolute darkness. Thanks to that, she was able to see Shu Yichao’s appearance.

“A Tang slave?!” Baysema was startled. “Why would a Tang slave…”

Pah!

Baysema suddenly felt an excruciating pain on her face. Someone had smacked her, and the sheer force caused her to tumble from one roof to another.

“Argh!”

She felt as if her bones were about to scatter, but even so, she still gathered her strength and arduously climbed to her feet. She took a good look at the person who had just struck her.

It was a towering figure holding a weird shovel.

“There’s another one?”

Baysema was alarmed to learn that there was more than one monster after her. She quickly scanned her surroundings in search of an escape route, only for her heart to soon clench up.

She noticed a huge flag fluttering amidst the frenzied winds. On the flag was the word ‘Tang’.

At the same time, she heard the sounds of clanging weapons, the Tibetan soldiers’ miserable wails, and the relieved cries of the Tang slaves…

“They have come!”

“They have finally come for us!”

“Our Tang army has returned to the Western Regions!”

“Charge! Kill those darned barbarians!”

Inexplicable fear gripped Baysema’s heart. “T-T-Tang army?!”

Could the Tang army have really returned? No, that’s impossible!

Even the slightest lapse in attention on the battlefield could be fatal. A brilliant white light flashed its sneer at the opening Baysema had revealed.

Weng!

Baysema’s protective necklace lit up and formed a transparent barrier around her. Her face reddened, as she had to channel all her mana into maintaining the barrier.

Unfortunately, the barrier shattered as soon as it came into contact with the modao.

Shoosh!

A white light sliced through Baysema’s body.
