Chapter 864: Chapter 846: Lava! Lava!

After 200 Guards piloting the Slaughter Battle Armor landed, they unleashed their ferocious firepower to slaughter a large number of Demons. They swiftly carved out a zone outside the city and took this opportunity to reorganize their formation. Soon after, they began an official advance!

Five squads of Guards turned directly toward the city walls. Using the jumping abilities of their armor, they leaped onto the walls in unison and started assisting the troops stationed there in clearing out the Demons. Meanwhile, the remaining fifteen squads of Guards launched ferocious assaults on the Demons in their squad formations.

To launch a direct attack against the Demons with such a small number of forces seemed utterly inconceivable, yet the Guard Corps clad in Slaughter Battle Armor made it a reality. After witnessing the overwhelming firepower of the Slaughter Battle Armor firsthand, this seemingly audacious action no longer appeared unthinkable at all.

There was no helping it—the performance of the Slaughter Battle Armor was simply too formidable. This top-tier armor, which incorporated all of Rocky’s latest technologies, exhibited astonishing power on the battlefield. True to its name, it was nothing short of a slaughter machine for Demons.

Slaughtering Demons... Such a feat was unheard of, unthinkable even. Humans had always been the ones slaughtered by Demons—when had the tables ever turned? Yet today, such a scene was playing out before everyone’s eyes.

The violent firepower of the Gatling Golden Gun made it nearly impossible for Demons to approach the Guard Corps. Even the occasional few Demons who managed to get close during fleeting gaps in the gunfire couldn’t hold out against the Beam Machine Gun designed for close-range combat. Furthermore, anyone who assumed the Slaughter Battle Armor relied solely on artillery to fight Demons would be gravely mistaken. Despite lacking traditional melee weapons, its close-combat capabilities were exceptionally powerful.

For example, at this very moment, a Magic Antelope Devil managed, with great difficulty, to leap close to a Guard. But before it could use the sharp horns on its head to ram, the Guard charged straight at the Magic Antelope Devil instead, delivering a punch that directly shattered the devil’s head!

This was the close-combat prowess of the Slaughter Battle Armor. Powered by 15,000 mana points, the armor possessed immense strength, with fists that could be described as iron hammers. One punch was enough to crush any Normal Demon.

With such power in play, the battlefield outside the city quickly stabilized. Demons charging at the city walls from all directions were soon intercepted by the Guard Corps, significantly reducing the pressure on the fortifications.

However, it was clear that this battle was far from over. Although the Normal Demons attacking the walls had been held back, there were still numerous Demons crossing the trench outside the city. More importantly, among them were many high-level Demons—these were the real challenges.

Having already regrouped with his squad, Peter led them steadily forward. Though their progress was slow, each step was unwavering. The aftermath of their advance could only be described as a landscape littered with corpses, countless Demons slain and left fallen in their wake. Their path forward was built upon the bodies of these Demons.

But just then, as Peter stumbled a Magic Antelope Devil with his Beam Machine Gun and was about to stomp on it for good measure, his communicator suddenly buzzed with the urgent voice of a teammate.

"Captain! Watch out!"

Hearing the warning, Peter reacted swiftly, scanning his surroundings for danger. Left and right were clear... meaning the threat was above!

Snapping his head upward, he saw it—a massive creature was plummeting from the skies!

This behemoth resembled an enormous, fiery-red meteor, with flames cascading across its massive body. Its towering form was unmistakable—it was a Lava Demon!

In that instant, Peter recognized it for what it truly was: a high-level Demon!

Every capable warrior knew how to respond to a high-level Demon encounter, and Peter was no exception. Without hesitation, he commanded his armor to retreat at top speed, putting as much distance as possible between himself and the descending Lava Demon.

Just moments after his swift withdrawal, a deafening boom erupted as the ground where Peter had just been standing was obliterated, leaving a giant crater at least two meters deep. Emerging from the crater was the colossal form of the Lava Demon.

Even while standing in the pit, two meters deep, the Lava Demon still towered over Peter, who was not far away! As the Demon slowly climbed out of the crater, Peter felt as though he was staring at an enormous giant.

The Lava Demon stood over four meters tall, twice the height of Peter clad in his Slaughter Battle Armor. Its massive frame could easily accommodate three or four Peters stacked together.

Since there had been few high-level Demons near Backhill Village, this was Peter’s first time seeing a Lava Demon with his own eyes. He couldn’t deny being terrified. Though he had previously spotted the creature’s form from the air, seeing it from afar and facing it directly were wholly different experiences. In this moment, Peter had only one thought: How could something be this massive?

But that was merely a sign of Peter’s lack of experience. Among high-level Demons, the size of a Lava Demon wasn’t particularly noteworthy. Even among Normal Demons, there were several species larger than a Lava Demon.

As Peter stood gawking, the Lava Demon emitted a low, guttural roar. With a thunderous movement, it raised a gargantuan hand and slammed it down onto the ground.

Evidently, the Lava Demon intended to swat Peter, the closest foe, into oblivion. Yet, curiously, despite the proximity, Peter was still at least ten meters away from the creature. With such a distance, even the towering Demon shouldn’t have been capable of striking him directly, right?

The answer to the riddle revealed itself instantly. Although the Lava Demon’s hand struck the ground, a fiery explosion burst forth from where it landed. A wave of flames then surged across the ten-meter gap, rushing directly toward Peter!

This was the true power of the Lava Demon’s attack!

As a high-level Demon, the Lava Demon’s body appeared to be composed of stone, but in reality, its entire form was coursing with molten lava. Consequently, every one of its attacks unleashed torrents of fire. Engaging such a being in close combat was almost suicidal. The Lava Demon didn’t even need to strike—simply giving an enemy a ’warm’ embrace would mean certain death. Even worse, its ranged attacks were incredibly diverse. Like a Mage proficient in Flame Magic, it could hurl Fireballs that exploded like cannon shells. Earlier, it had attacked the city walls using just such tactics.

Never mistake it for an ordinary giant, and certainly not for a common Demon; otherwise, the consequences would be catastrophic.
