Chapter 64: A well deserved rest at the top of the hill.

The clouds began to clear, gradually showing the stars.

They shone in the sky with intensity, with all kinds of colors, a beautiful spectacle that would move anyone.

Alioth sighed, his breathing was calming down, every muscle in his body began to relax.

He was having a well-deserved rest after so much action.

The hot magma beneath his back comforted him, slowly drying his clothes.

The chimeras’ bodies slowly sank into Baron Samedi’s shadow, apparently that day the Lwa had obtained a good haul.

The spirits pulsed in the air, tinting the landscape with red, blue, green and silver colors, like a firefly show.

It was a beautiful and relaxing scene, the calm after the battle, and a reward for his effort.

The boy stretched his arm to one side, when his fingers encountered a piece of a branch.

"Mmm?" Alioth grabbed it and put it in front of his face. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦

Inspecting it a bit, Alioth realized it was a fragment of Lævateinn.

Alioth didn’t understand how that had gotten there.

Though he also didn’t understand how it was possible that that priest had managed to destroy that weapon so easily with one blow.

It wasn’t a normal weapon, it was the crystallization of a legend from another world.

Nora had used all its potential, destroying and killing all kinds of beings with it.

Though then the boy realized the priest had managed to easily finish off his other creations, so that wasn’t so strange.

However, that thought also led to a shocking conclusion.

The Lwa’s power was incredible.

It was true, Alioth wasn’t going to deny the possibility that the priest had tired and worn down in his combat.

Even if he didn’t show signs of combat, it was also true he no longer used giant keter weapons or massive attacks.

Why was he using the chimeras again?

It was clear a forceful and precise attack would have been more effective to defeat them.

However, he preferred to use those chimeras, while fighting with Nora, who was now capable of facing him.

It was clear he had to be at least tired.

However, even so, the Lwa had managed to defeat the priest with a simple combo.

It was true, the power of both was needed to kill him, along with Nora’s help.

But even so, Nana Baruke’s drops had managed to pierce through a defense that not even a giant volcanic rock colossus had managed to even scratch.

If two Lwa could easily defeat someone so powerful.

What was Anansi’s level?

She had multiple Lwa of great power, while it wasn’t an army, they were still numerous.

If all were so powerful then what was his teacher’s level.

Would someone like him even reach the level of one of his teacher’s Lwa?

Now Alioth doubted it.

The distance between him and his teacher had grown.

He always believed that when he had ka he would stop being a burden.

But now Alioth understood that even having ka it wouldn’t be easy to be useful to Anansi.

It was frustrating since he wanted to help his teacher.

He wanted to return the favor for having been a burden all these years.

But if he wasn’t even capable of competing with the Lwa.

How could he even imagine reaching Anansi?

The young man let out a long sigh.

"Better push away those negative thoughts, Alioth," the boy said to himself as he relaxed his mind.

It wasn’t the time to worry about those things.

He had already managed to stop the priest.

Yes, he was helped and practically contributed nothing to the combat.

But it was also true he had learned to use his power that same day.

Of course, Nora had also awakened that day and had proven to be much more powerful.

But so what if he wasn’t a genius?

He couldn’t be saddened by immediate results, he had to focus on improving in the future.

His ability seemed to have a lot of potential.

Too much potential.

Perhaps not enough to reach Anansi, but at least enough to stop being a burden.

The boy felt somewhat comforted by that thought.

It was true, he hadn’t contributed much, but even if his contribution was small, he wasn’t a burden either.

At least not such a large burden.

He had managed to give battle to the priest, when a few days ago he wouldn’t have even dared to dream of fighting even with an amateur mage.

In perspective, he had gone from not using magic and using a slime as a weapon, to being able to summon magma colossi to combat.

When Alioth remembered Abzu, he felt a pang in his chest.

The young man put his hand in his pocket, there was a flask with Abzu’s remains.

For some reason, Alioth felt his friend hadn’t left yet, that he could still save him.

Sadness was replaced by hope.

He had already revived [Emet] and [Ifrit] by fusing them into [Ifmet], a much more powerful version of them together.

Perhaps there was a chance to do the same, but with Abzu.

Perhaps there was still hope to recover his friend.

The boy felt his chest fill with a warm sensation.

The heat on his back was comforting, while the light the spirits pulsed was hypnotizing.

Alioth felt his body relaxed and how his problems began to disappear from his mind, before the landscape’s beauty.

"Not everything is lost..." the white-haired boy said to himself, as he began to feel sleepy.

Alioth would have wished that moment to be eternal, however, fate wasn’t kind enough to let him rest.

Baron Samedi finished absorbing the chimeras, as he recovered his doll form and began to walk toward Nana Baruke.

"Did you miss me, bitch?" the doll asked with his typical nasal voice and vulgar tone.

Nana Baruke looked away, as if she were bothered to be in Baron Samedi’s presence, as if his existence were irritating.

"Of course not, you took too long," the doll responded with indignation.

Baron Samedi shrugged, not giving it too much importance.

"It’s just that I found Aida wounded, what did you want me to do? Luckily she’s fine," Baron Samedi said.

Alioth felt relieved hearing Aida was still alive.

But then he heard something that returned him to his worry.

"Well, now that we’ve made the boy safe, we should go help Anansi, even for her facing the demon goddess of tyranny will be dangerous," Baron Samedi commented.

Alioth couldn’t believe those words.

Was his teacher in danger?
