Lord of Myths: I Can Summon and Fuse Divine Powers.-Chapter 54: A Parasite, a Heroine and a Priest in the Secret Laboratory. (1)
Alioth felt defeated, all his invocations had been defeated in an instant.
With surprising ease.
In fact, Alioth was surprised by something, in the legend of the Golem, the way to defeat it is by erasing the first letter of its name.
This happens because by erasing the E from Emet you get the word met which meant death.
How was it possible that that priest knew that?
Alioth had that knowledge because during the time he spent in a coma, he was still aware of his surroundings and could hear what was around him.
That included his brother, who came every day to tell him stories, tales and myths.
Myths from another world that he could bring to life.
Alioth didn’t know how that ability worked, but he knew one thing: none of the myths he knew were reflected in this world.
Though he couldn’t help but feel that the word "Devastra" reminded him of something.
However, Alioth came to a conclusion.
The priest didn’t have to know the legend of Emet, that was very unlikely.
However, he did see that there were runes on its chest, perhaps he thought that destroying one would destroy its entire structure. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
Certainly accurate.
Not only in that context, but it probably would have worked with a conventional golem.
So that was due only to a coincidence.
However, it was undeniable that the priest was stronger than him.
Much stronger.
All this time the priest had been playing with Alioth.
The boy no longer saw a way to win the battle, or even escape.
That’s why Alioth was glad when Nora came to the rescue.
But his joy was short-lived.
Alioth then noticed how magma was falling on him, and worried about that fact.
The ceiling had turned to lava, and now logically it was falling on him.
He had lost his "protective gods."
He had no way to defend himself.
Was he going to die?
"No, focus Alioth... SVALIN," the boy shouted.
Before the magma could fall on him, a large sphere of swirling wind surrounded him.
As if it were an atmospheric shield, Alioth was protected by a dome-shaped whirlwind.
Inside, Alioth could see the remains of Abzu.
Had he really gone?
The boy wasn’t sure.
Then, Alioth saw a crystal flask beside him, empty.
A strange idea crossed his mind, he took the flask and tried to drag the remains of Abzu into it.
Alioth didn’t know why he was doing this, his instinct simply told him to try.
The boy pushed the liquid into the flask clumsily, though he could only introduce a minimal amount into it.
Upon achieving it, Alioth stored the flask in his pocket as he stood up.
He was sore, angry, sad and exhausted.
For the first time he felt joy at Nora’s visit.
After the magma that had fallen spread to the sides instead of on top of him, Svalin dissolved.
When the wind shield dissolved, Alioth saw how Nora was wielding Lævateinn in front of him, protecting him from the priest.
"Did you miss me, Alu?" the blonde-haired girl asked with an amused smile on her face.
Alioth sighed somewhat irritated, he had suffered too much for someone to joke with him now.
Though deep down he knew that victimizing himself was very childish on his part.
"Yes, for the first time in my life I’m glad to see you," Alioth said with some annoyance.
Hearing those words, Nora pouted.
"Hmph, really, that’s your reaction? How rude, I thought you were my friend," the girl responded annoyed.
Alioth raised an eyebrow somewhat nervously, this wasn’t the time to argue.
They were fighting against a very powerful man.
Though apparently the priest had stopped attacking to observe the scene with a smile.
Why did he seem to be enjoying himself?
"Have you finished your reunion? Or do you need a little more time alone?" the priest asked as he took calm steps toward them.
Alioth extended his arm, now that he had obtained a connection with the outside and Nora had returned, he had regained contact with the silver spirits.
Alioth decided it was better to respond with an attack rather than words.
"Buidhearg!" he said vividly as a bright orange drill stretched toward the priest.
The man didn’t move away, though he didn’t let himself be hit either.
He simply pointed at the drill with his finger and from it emerged a small beam of light.
The light pierced through the drill, breaking it and undoing the spirits that composed it.
The attack kept advancing, like a pressurized stream of light heading toward Alioth.
Too fast to dodge, Alioth felt his heart accelerate in his chest as he saw it approaching.
But before it reached him, Nora interposed herself between the attack and Alioth, wielding Lævateinn with speed and throwing a cut at the light beam.
The light dispersed in multiple directions, breaking into multiple light particles.
"Don’t worry, I’ve got you covered," Nora said with a serious tone.
As she did, her aura began to be expelled from her body, flooding the entire room.
The priest gave Nora a twisted smile, as he raised his arms.
"I have to admit you possess surprising strength for your age, but let’s see if you can even serve as training for my pets," the man said with a smile.
Nora tilted her head, not understanding what the man meant.
But then, at that moment, brilliant glows of light began to fill the room.
Alioth was blinded for a few moments, and then when he recovered his sight he saw it.
The room had filled with beasts in a second.
Multiple creatures that Alioth couldn’t recognize, they weren’t something that appeared in the books he had studied.
They were multiple creatures of all kinds, which seemed to be composed of parts of different animals.
Alioth swallowed hard.
Those were chimeras.
Though it wasn’t surprising that a mad scientist like that priest had an army of abominations.
The number of them was concerning.
Alioth turned to look at Nora.
The air gently pushed her golden hair making it float.
The girl’s gaze was firm, she didn’t waver before that display of enemies.
Still, Alioth was nervous.
"Do you think we can face them?" the boy asked uncertainly.
Nora simply gave him a big smile.
"Of course! Don’t you remember? I’m a heroine," the girl responded with pride.
Alioth sighed, it wasn’t time to be intimidated.
There were still many dangers to face.
