Chapter 489: Chapter 463: Origin

"The Ancient Mayans truly had a profound love for vermillion that permeated their bones, even the origin murals were depicted with vermillion?"

Tang Qi and Reina, along with others, turned their gaze to the wall pointed out by the elder, where the densely packed murals displayed a scene in the first grid section that instantly led to the conclusion that this might concern the true origin of the Ancient Mayans.

The mural showed that within the ancient Yamada Jungle, a powerful yet primitive civilization was engaged in various activities: worship, hunting, or casting large statues, symbolizing the flames of hope and civilization, burning fiercely within the depths of the city jungle.

But these primitive humans were clearly not the "Ancient Maya"; from their physique, architecture, and other details, they were the rulers prior to the Mayans, known as the founders of the "Mother Civilization"—the Vila People.

They didn’t occupy the main area of the mural. The real protagonists were a group of nearly naked slaves, obviously, the ancestors of the Ancient Mayans.

A hunting group formed by Vila Warriors drove a considerable number of slaves toward the plains to hunt the "Titan Giant Elephant"—the creature that at the time could provide the most meat. The slaves paid a heavy price to severely wound the giant elephant. That was their value.

Until the next moment, an actual colossal entity appeared, the "Exotic Realm Spaceship" with an odd shape. It pierced through the invisible world’s barriers, wrapped in pitch-black flames. The hard ground was smashed open with ease like tofu, leaving a horrifying scene of ruins.

Both the Vila Warriors and the Titan Giant Elephant turned to ashes within the black flames, while a group of slaves survived.

They waited in place for a day and a night, as if there was some guidance in the darkness. When the black flames extinguished under the moon’s glow, the slaves boldly stepped into the ruins... at daybreak, the slaves emerged, changed, each having acquired unimaginable strength.

These slaves built a tribe on the ruins, began to wage wars outward, plundering other slaves, reproducing, and at the same time fighting against Vila People’s attacks.

Gradually, they grew stronger, and conversely, the once mighty Vila People began to encounter various Heavenly Disasters: earthquakes, tsunamis, beast tides, plagues... The Vila People weakened day by day, and the ancestors of the Mayans rose opportunistically.

And during the last great famine, they exterminated the last generation of Vila People, plundering their capital city. Inside the Yamada Jungle, a new generation of rulers was born.

The last grid showed the ascendant Mayans worshiping around the "Ruins", and the dozens of slaves who first stepped into the ruins had all gained their own "Throne" by then. The power they possessed, in the eyes of the descendants, was no different from that of Divine beings.

In the eyes of Tang Qi and the others at this moment, there was nothing but shock and astonishment.

As for Reina Swinton, the adventurer and archaeologist, her entire being seemed to tremble, not out of fear, but with excitement.

If one were close enough, they could hear her murmuring.

"The truth of history, the Secret of Origin of the Mayans, the mystery of the demise of the Vila People... I, Reina Swinton, have finally shed the shadow of those twisted ancestors from the Swenton family. Once I reveal this, the Discovery of the Year Award, Strongest Adventurer, Lifetime Achievement Award... all within reach. This trip was the right choice after all."

Reina Swinton was perhaps going a bit mad, but others weren’t faring much better either.

Apart from "Haisen" of the War God Sect, who was sort of illiterate, the rest all had some knowledge in Mysticism.

And the secrets related to the Mayans and Vila People were enough to stun both the Mysterious Side and the real world.

As a polymath, Tang Qi was also very interested in this. A large part of Reina Swinton’s exclamation was correct; if the murals before them were verified to be true, revealing them would immediately cause a huge ripple in both worlds.

Relative to his last discovery of the "Truth of the Immortal Earl", this was nothing.

At this moment, the Information Fragments that surfaced in Tang Qi’s eyes were instantly verified.

[Curios: Origin Murals.]

[State: Normal.]

[Information Fragment One: Origin Murals recorded by the Ancient Mayans, the artist was one of the ancestors of the Mayans who later became the Mayans’ worshipped Wisdom God Kels. Due to the effects of his Divine Power, this mural is very hard to destroy.]

[Information Fragment Two: Kels has fallen, it is not possible to communicate with him through this mural.]

...

Immediately, the abruptly revealed Information Fragments caused Tang Qi’s pupils to sharply constrict.

Unexpected information: The Wisdom God, who was worshiped by the Mayans, had already perished.

Suppressing the shock, Tang Qi and the others focused their gaze on the wall, on the patterns that occupied a main position in each grid area, depicted with a large amount of vermillion. It was portraying that bizarre Exotic Realm Spaceship.

Kels’s artistry was astounding; with the vermillion, he managed to paint in a cold, Dark style. The spaceship depicted was a huge and Mysterious entity covered in blackness, as if coated in rust and mucus, the hard and cold metal, the patterns similar to bones, seemed like a melding of Purgatory and technology.

Its shape conformed to that of the male reproductive organ, akin to an allegory.

Anyone who glanced at it would feel the surging of primordial Desires related to Fertility, reproduction, and slaughter within them, an uncontrollable urge to worship and vent.

"Could it be that we are in...?"

The Puppet Master spoke up, a hoarse voice filled with hesitation.

Then, Reina confirmed his guess.

"The origin of the Mayans stems from that out of control Exotic Realm spaceship. Although the murals here do not show the scene of them establishing the Holy City Teotim, from these metal pipes and the style, it is clear that the Mayans definitely built their Holy City on the ruins of the crashed spaceship."

"That spaceship is their true Holy Land, and the entire Teotim was built surrounding it. And the Sky Tower wasn’t established by the Mayans at all; it... was a part of the spaceship."

"So now we are inside that spaceship."

Reina Swenton seemed completely unfazed by the surrounding dangers, her tone irrepressibly excited as she explained.

The rest, however, went from excitement to sheer worry.

"What kind of power could have led to the Mayans abandoning even their Holy Land in the end?"

The Puppet Master stared at a mural on the wall, eyes filled with fear, which depicted the Mayans devastating the Vela People.

The latter, being a "mother civilization" at the onset of the Dark Era, possessed great Extraordinary Power as well. Each "Vela Wizard" was shown summoning powerful witchcraft like Heavenly Fire and floods, yet they stood no chance against the force wielded by the ancient Mayan ancestors.

Those few Mayans who entered the spaceship are transformed into "Divine" beings in the murals, wielding power that leaves onlookers astounded.

Especially their leader, a toothless, emaciated old man, with a Sun rising behind him, and a Moon, surrounded by symbols and characters representing Civilization and Truth. Wherever he went, the Vela People bowed in reverent worship.

Without any need for conjecture, even the Extraordinary Warrior of the War God Sect could identify him as the Sky God worshiped by the Mayans.

Of course, during the era portrayed in the murals, he was merely the first generation leader of their ancestors.

"We need to find the second mural hall!"

Reina Swenton spoke with unwavering resolve.

Without letting anyone else argue, she immediately added her reason: "Only by solving the mystery of the Mayan extinction can we find a way out. Also, we had better not touch anything related to the Sealing again, even if it’s tempting Curios or materials."

Upon hearing Reina’s reasoning, Tang Qi couldn’t help but twitch the corner of his mouth.

Undoubtedly, her reasoning was far-fetched.

Finding a way out did relate to how the Mayans were exterminated but wasn’t as closely connected as she implied.

Clearly, Reina Swenton was now completely disregarding the dangers, fixated only on discovering the historical truth.

"A qualified archaeologist, an adventurer with a crazy streak in their blood."

Updating his impression of Reina, Tang Qi’s peripheral vision inadvertently caught a glimpse of a corner of a mural; a circular Transmission Symbol emerged, emitting a faint ghost light, and an Information Fragment burst forth in his mind.

"A Magic symbol signifying transmission, not fitting with the time the mural was created... still functional, requiring a wave of Magic Power to activate."

As the fragment materialized, Tang Qi’s frown deepened.

It was all too deliberate! At this moment, he could no longer doubt that behind the shadows, there was a hidden hand or some manipulative will trying to direct their movements.

Ignoring the Transmission Symbol, Tang Qi’s gaze inadvertently swept across the surroundings and the still-living Inheritors.

Special Ability, fully activated.

Soon, feedback returned, yet he saw nothing out of the ordinary.

But doubt was growing deeper within Tang Qi’s heart.

He had long realized that his Special Ability was not all-powerful; some special schemes could completely evade his sight.

Tang Qi didn’t alert Reina Swenton or participate in the discussion about moving forward.

He just quietly waited, waiting to see who would be the first to discover that "symbol"?

The answer came just seconds later.

"Huh? This symbol seems to be..."

The Extraordinary Warrior "Haisen," who was discussing with the old man and Puppet Master, suddenly focused on the circular symbol.

He appeared to have discovered something, his expression a mix of surprise and hesitation.

Under the slightly startled watch of everyone, he pressed his palm against the symbol, releasing his Magic Power.

Intense ghost light erupted in an instant, engulfing the group.

Without any sign of danger, and with a safe scenery clearly emerging through a gateway within the ghost light, no one resisted, including Tang Qi who remained vigilant as they were swallowed by the light.

As the ghost light dissipated, the group stood firm once more, instinctively guarding their positions, cautiously surveying their surroundings.

The same slick, revolting passage lay before them, and a normal stone doorway; the aqua stone slabs adorned with vermillion symbols distinctive of the Mayans.

But for the moment, none of these could attract their attention.

They all turned to look at the sides of the gateway, each guarded by a sentinel, a "guard" who was nearly indistinguishable from a human.
