Chapter 22: Caught at Last

No matter how hot the weather was, he didn’t want his fox to catch a cold from cold water, so he carefully warmed the water and bathed her—but strangely, that tingling scent on Sohwa never faded.

That damn smell was driving his body crazy.

His lower abdomen tightened, and his body heated up.

Staring intently at the bedroom where Sohwa slept, wondering how to deal with this fox and imagining her cute little face, he spent the whole night awake.

And when the sun rose, he finally realized.

He was the one who was in heat....

In heat for none other than a foolish fox.

However, the fact that they were different species didn’t matter much to Dohwi.

It was a stimulus that was so strong, causing him to go into heat even in the middle of summer, which wasn’t typical for a tiger like him. His affection towards Sohwa was that strong, and it was becoming harder and harder for Dohwi to hide his desires.

Dohwi had no time to ponder right and wrong.

The daily urge to claim that female as his own was unbearable.

Yes, he was the one who had been in heat all season long, not Sohwa.

It was a mischievous lie to tease her about being preoccupied with the male foxes.

From morning to night, just having Sohwa nearby drove him crazy, and on top of that, Dohwi had to worry about hiding his own scent.

“What’s this smell? Sniff, sniff... Oh my, Dohwi! Where did you pick up this scent? Did you encounter a fierce beast?”

Sohwa was the first to notice that his scent had changed, though he thought she wouldn’t because he was always by her side.

And soon, female tigers began to show up, drawn by the scent of a mighty tiger in heat.

One day, Sohwa fainted upon seeing a female tiger in their front yard and was bedridden for three full days.

Luckily, Sohwa, being oblivious as usual, believed him when he said it was just a dream.

But after that, even hearing the word ‘tiger’ made her tremble, deepening Dohwi’s heartache.

He buried deer bones under the cherry tree, placed sachets of ranunculus scent all around the house, and dulled Sohwa’s sense of smell.

It was all to hide his scent of heat, and also to mask Sohwa’s scent from him.

But all those efforts eventually ended up being in vain. fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓

Despite living for a thousand years, Dohwi was still a virgin due to his ferocious nature.

When in heat, he hunted fiercely, ensuring that no other tigers, male or female, dared to invade his territory.

Sohwa was the only one Dohwi had feelings for.

Now that he was filled with desire for her, hiding his scent was pointless; just looking at her made him want to do all sorts of things to her.

No matter how many bothersome male foxes he killed, the burning thirst wouldn’t go away.

In the end, the only solution was to make her his.

How far had she managed to run?

Just thinking of Sohwa lightened Dohwi’s steps. It pained him that she had left home to escape him, but he had anticipated this the moment he had decided to kill the male fox.

As winter set in and Sohwa’s heat cycle began, it was obvious that male foxes would come for her every night until the ice melted.

Now, it was finally time to claim her as his female.

He couldn’t wait for his mate to be ready any longer.

“Come out, Sohwa.”

Dohwi chuckled at the tiny footprints leading to the badger’s den.

‘So cute.’

She wouldn’t even realize how much he enjoyed tracking her tiny, pretty footprints.

But he couldn’t spend this auspicious night playing hide-and-seek in the mountains.

Finally, they would confront each other’s true forms.

The days of Dohwi pretending to forget how to return to his true form and acting like a docile cat were over.

He had worried that her obliviousness would force him to transform into a tiger and roar right in front of her, but thankfully, she seemed to have figured everything out.

After all, she was sprinting down the rain-soaked mountain path in such a hurry, soaked in fear.

“Did you really think I couldn’t catch you if you ran away?”

Dohwi began to tear down the badger’s den where Sohwa had hidden herself.

“Come out, now. You promised me that you would take responsibility for me, Sohwa.”

As Dohwi reached out his paw to pull out the small body, Sohwa bit him with a yelp. The ticklish sensation made him laugh.

What was he supposed to do when she bit him and then trembled with such an adorable face?

“It hurts. How dare you bite me like that, sweetheart?”

Dohwi loved Sohwa’s human form, but he also adored her fox form.

Especially when she dangled from his grasp, her little paws flailing cutely, making him want to put her in his mouth.

He was looking at her affectionately, instinctively moving closer to lick her.

But at that very moment...

“Oh... not again.”

Drip, drip.

He thought it was raining again when he heard the sound of droplets, but it turned out that Sohwa had wet herself. Though it wasn’t the first time.
