Chapter 138: Chapter 138: "What? Am I an Embarrassment to You?

She’d always prided herself on being able to hold her liquor, but at this age, she had barely touched alcohol. She was no longer the Xu Su from her past life, who could drink anyone under the table.

When she spoke again, her words were a little slurred. "Zhou Mochen, I have to go back. My classmates are still waiting for me." 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎

Zhou Mochen nodded slowly, appearing quite agreeable. "Which private room are they in? I’ll go let them know for you. You stay here. I’ll take you home when you’ve sobered up."

There was no way he could feel at ease letting a Xu Su this drunk out of his sight. Even being with her classmates was out of the question.

Xu Su blinked a few times, slowly processing what he said. Then she shook her head vehemently. "No, no way. Zhou Mochen, you can’t meet my classmates."

Zhou Mochen laughed in frustration. "What? Am I an embarrassment to you?"

The drunk Xu Su lacked her usual eloquence. Her eyes grew red with anxiety as she stammered, "You just can’t, that’s all. You’re not allowed to see my classmates."

She was so worked up, looking flustered and wronged. It wasn’t her usual sarcastic tone, but rather a pleading, almost coquettish request. In her haste, she even grabbed Zhou Mochen’s arm.

They were standing very close. Zhou Mochen finally gave in to his impulse, his lips pressing with restraint against the space between her brows. He said in a husky voice, "Fine. I won’t see your classmates. But you can’t leave my side either. Call your ’dear Fengfeng’ and tell her you’re not going back."

The two words, "dear Fengfeng," sounded different coming from Zhou Mochen, carrying a hint of anger.

Xu Su clutched her phone, using what little sobriety she had left to weigh her options. She concluded that she really couldn’t go back. Seeing Zhou Mochen like this, she knew he would absolutely not let her leave. If she insisted on returning to the room Xi Zirong had booked, she was afraid Zhou Mochen would follow her.

..... After a long moment of indecision, Xu Su nodded. "You go out. I’ll call Fengfeng and let her know."

Zhou Mochen raised an eyebrow. "Is there something in your call with Huang Feng that I can’t hear? Susu, in your condition, I’m genuinely worried you’ll fall if I leave you in here alone."

She was barely able to stand, propped up only by his support. Hearing his words, she braced one hand on the sink and pointed to the door with the other. "You go out first. Give me some space to make my call."

Zhou Mochen’s gaze swept over Xu Su’s new phone, his expression unreadable. Finally, he planted a kiss on the crown of her head and obediently left.

Xu Su quickly locked the door from the inside and dialed Huang Feng’s number.

On the other end, Huang Feng was worried sick. Xu Su had gone to the restroom and been gone for nearly half an hour. After making several calls that went unanswered, Xi Zirong had already started searching for her in every private room.

After briefly telling Huang Feng that she had gone home early, Xu Su quickly hung up and dialed Xi Zirong.

’What if he actually finds his way to Zhou Mochen’s private room...’

It rang twice before the call connected. Xi Zirong’s urgent voice came through. "Susu, where are you? Did you get lost? Or did you fall in the restroom?"

He sounded genuinely panicked, which shocked Xu Su’s alcohol-addled brain into a state of relative clarity. She tried her best to control her voice so she wouldn’t sound drunk.

"Something urgent came up at home, so I had to leave early. I was in such a rush I didn’t have time to come back to the room and tell you guys. It’s my fault. I’m sorry for making you worry."

Xi Zirong was silent for a few seconds on the other end of the line before speaking. "Are you on your way home? Susu, are you in a car right now?"

Xu Su looked at her reflection in the sink’s mirror and said slowly, "Yes. I can’t talk anymore, I’m getting a little carsick. See you at school tomorrow."

The girl in the mirror was wearing a pale pink puffer jacket, zipped all the way up. Her long hair was down, and her overall look was simple and clean.

Her cheeks were a little red, giving her a healthy glow. Xu Su stared at her reflection for a long time, slowly trying to figure out what she was doing.

’What am I doing right now?’

’Xi Zirong is out there frantically searching for me everywhere, and here I am, caught by Zhou Mochen and unable to go back.’

’And I even have to lie and tell him I’ve gone home...’

Before Xu Su could make sense of the situation, there was a knock on the door. Zhou Mochen’s voice came through. "Xu Su, are you okay?"

’He’s clearly afraid this drunkard will fall and pass out in here...’

Xu Su called out a reply, then picked up her phone and started deleting her text messages and call history with Xi Zirong.

When Zhou Mochen had grabbed her phone earlier to see who was calling, it had nearly scared her sober.

’Thankfully, the caller then was Huang Feng. If it had been Xi Zirong...’

By the time Xu Su finished deleting the messages and opened the door, Zhou Mochen was so worried he’d been on the verge of breaking it down.

He was genuinely terrified the young woman would fall and hurt herself in there.

When he saw Xu Su come out, Zhou Mochen first looked her up and down to make sure she was alright. Only then did he take her hand and lead her to the sofa in the private room.

Ever since Zhou Mochen had returned with the young woman, their private room had been dead silent. Before, the lights had been dim with people singing. There had even been a few scantily clad hostesses livening up the atmosphere, with men hugging their waists and stealing kisses.

After Xu Su went into the restroom, these "staff members" had been sent away by their "clients" at Zhou Mochen’s signal.

Now, the private room was brightly lit. Among the ten or so people there, Xu Su immediately spotted an old acquaintance from her past life.

She was in a state of being half-drunk, and she vaguely recalled seeing Shen Chen kissing a scantily clad woman when she had first come in.

She couldn’t help but show a flicker of her habitual disgust.

Shen Chen had also been secretly sizing up the person Zhou Mochen brought in. He had known Zhou Mochen for many years; when had he ever seen him stand guard outside a restroom for someone?

And right at that moment, he caught her look of disgust.

The corner of Shen Chen’s mouth quirked up into a smile. "Brother Zhou, aren’t you going to introduce this young lady?"

Zhou Mochen led Xu Su to a seat and handed her a glass of water. Only then did he turn to the others, who had been waiting with bated breath for him to speak, and offer a simple introduction: "Her name is Xu Su."

He didn’t say what their relationship was, or who she was—he only gave them a name.

As soon as he said this, the dead-silent atmosphere in the room relaxed. The others immediately chimed in with a few compliments, things like "Miss Xu is very beautiful" and so on.

They could see that Xu Su was special to Zhou Mochen, so naturally, they didn’t hold back on their praise.

These people were likely local businessmen from N City, who probably needed to ask Zhou Mochen for favors, so their attitudes were extremely deferential.

Shen Chen was different. He had flown in from Beijing to Chang City with Zhou Mochen today, just to hang out for a few days since he had nothing better to do.

Xu Su frowned as she listened to these awkward compliments. Zhou Mochen waved a hand dismissively. "Go on with what you were doing."

Shen Chen leaned in, smiling at Xu Su beside Zhou Mochen. "Hello, I’m Shen Chen. You must be Brother Zhou’s sweetheart?"

’Sweetheart...’

Xu Su took a sip from the glass of water. ’Hmm... it’s warm.’

Then, she gave a proud, deliberate nod and said with complete certainty, "If the Brother Zhou you’re talking about is Zhou Mochen, then yes, that would be me."
