Chapter 124: Chapter 124: Weren’t My Words Harsh Enough Last Time?

In her past life, she majored in marketing, but when it was time to work, Zhou Mochen arranged a job for her at his company. Nominally, she was his assistant, but in reality, she was the boss’s ornamental wife, admired by everyone in the company.

Zhou Mochen wouldn’t allow Xu Su to work anywhere else; he had to keep her under his thumb to feel at ease.

Xi Zirong chuckled. "Alright, whatever you say. We’ll go to University B, then."

Xu Su: "..." 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦

’It’s a good thing no one heard him, or it would’ve been really awkward.’

’He said it as if University B was a place they could just waltz into...’

Xu Su discovered that dating Xi Zirong on campus was a very happy experience.

A boyfriend who was always mindful of your mood, who tutored you with your homework, who ate meals with you, and who could always tell when you weren’t feeling well... Other than being a little clingy, Xu Su really couldn’t find any fault with Xi Zirong.

Often, when Xu Su was too focused on her problem sets and sat in one position for too long, Xi Zirong would remind her to stretch her neck and shoulders and to rest her eyes.

Besides giving Xu Su all sorts of practice problems, his favorite daily activity was massaging the back of her neck. This was because once Xu Su started studying, she would become completely absorbed, and by the time she snapped out of it, her neck would be indescribably sore.

Xu Su’s life was fulfilling and pleasant. The good times seemed to last, right up until the day before the final exams. That was when she saw Zhou Mochen at school for the first time in over two months.

As the math class representative, Xu Su was coming out of Teacher Wu’s office carrying a thick stack of math tests. As she passed a conference room next door, she ran right into Zhou Mochen, who was just coming out. He was surrounded by several school administrators Xu Su recognized.

Even Huang Feng’s older brother, Huang Chao, was trailing behind Zhou Mochen.

The tests in Xu Su’s arms were knocked to the ground, scattering everywhere. She was too stunned to even think of picking them up.

Ever since she had refused his offer of a ride and taken the bus back to school, Xu Su hadn’t answered any of his calls or replied to any of his messages. When he got too annoying, she had even blacklisted his number.

Seeing Zhou Mochen at school was something she was not prepared for. She was completely stunned on the spot.

Zhou Mochen also seemed surprised to run into her, but he reacted more quickly.

He first gave Xu Su a deep look, then bent down to pick up the papers on the floor for her.

The school administrators next to him quickly tried to stop him. Several pairs of hands scrambled to pick up the papers at once. Soon, the scattered tests were neatly stacked again.

Zhou Mochen hefted the stack of papers in his hand. It looked like at least four or five sets. He looked at Xu Su’s slender arms and frowned. "Can you carry this? Should I take it to your classroom for you?"

Vice Principal Zheng was in charge of academics at First High School, so he was very familiar with the outstanding students in each grade.

Xu Su had scored the highest in the sophomore class on several major exams, second only to Xi Zirong. The school administration had taken notice of her, and Vice Principal Zheng was especially aware that she had tested in from Kang County.

Hearing Zhou Mochen’s words, he paused for a moment. "Mr. Zhou, you know our student, Xu?"

’Isn’t he from Beijing? I heard he has a very powerful background. How could he know a female student who tested in from a small county?’

Xu Su’s face had turned pale from the shock. For a moment, she didn’t know what to say. Zhou Mochen’s sudden appearance had shattered all the peace she’d enjoyed recently.

Zhou Mochen, on the other hand, turned to Vice Principal Zheng with a smile and explained, "Didn’t I come to your esteemed school for the scholarship award ceremony in the first half of the year? We even took a group photo. This student, Xu, was standing right next to me. I have a slight impression of her."

’To remember the last name of a female student he met only once half a year ago...’

Everyone present was sharp; they quickly caught on that there was more to the story, and their expressions shifted.

Just then, the class bell rang, pulling Xu Su out of her panic. She looked at Zhou Mochen and held out her hand. "I have to get to class. Please give me the papers. I can carry them."

Zhou Mochen glanced at her. Their eyes met for less than two seconds before he chuckled. "This is a bit heavy. Why don’t I have Huang Chao take it down for you?"

Xu Su’s hands clenched into fists, her expression turning ugly. She was on the verge of chewing him out right then and there, regardless of the situation.

Seeing the young woman’s face flush with anger, Zhou Mochen didn’t dare tease her anymore. He handed over the thick stack of papers. "Alright, alright, you can carry it yourself. Hold on tight, and don’t fall on your way downstairs."

Xu Su walked away without looking back.

In the classroom, Teacher Wu was already waiting. After telling Xu Su to go get the tests, he hadn’t gone back to his office, so he didn’t know what had just happened.

Seeing his class representative arrive gracefully late, several minutes after the bell had rung, Teacher Wu asked with a smile, "What’s wrong? It’s just one floor. Did you get lost?"

The students in the class laughed along with him.

Lingering anger still showed on Xu Su’s face. She placed the papers on the lectern; the five sets of tests were now out of order from being dropped. "I’m sorry, Teacher. I couldn’t hold on tight and dropped them. It took a while to pick the papers up."

Teacher Wu sized her up for a moment. Seeing that she was alright, he gestured with his chin. "Go back to your seat. It doesn’t matter if the tests are mixed up. Each student gets five sheets anyway. They can sort it out themselves."

He added, "Next time there are too many papers, ask someone to go with you to get them."

Xu Su returned to her seat. It took several minutes for her to calm down.

’Zhou Mochen showing up at City No.1 High School... It doesn’t take a genius to figure out who he’s here for.’

’That damn pervert.’

’He hadn’t seen her for almost two months; he probably couldn’t stand it anymore. If Zhou Mochen wanted to, she’d probably have to see him at school every single day.’

A long-forgotten feeling of powerlessness washed over her.

’Xu Su really didn’t understand why this man just wouldn’t leave her alone.’

’Weren’t the things I said last time harsh enough?’

Math class hadn’t even been going for ten minutes when the classroom door was suddenly pushed open. Vice Principal Zheng stood outside, waving Teacher Wu over.

A few minutes later, Teacher Wu returned. He called Xu Su’s name. "Come out for a moment."

When Xu Su came out, Teacher Wu remained silent. Instead, Vice Principal Zheng spoke to her. "Xu, you’ve been enrolled for over a year, so you’re familiar with our school. Would you be willing to take up one or two of your class periods to show a distinguished guest around and introduce them to the character of our First High School?"

Xu Su froze. She instantly realized who the ’distinguished guest’ was and reflexively wanted to refuse. In the end, she forced herself to hold back. Still, not willing to just agree, she asked, "Could you choose a student from another grade? The sophomores have final exams tomorrow."

Vice Principal Zheng smiled kindly. "The freshmen have only just enrolled and aren’t familiar with the campus themselves. The seniors are all preparing for the college entrance exams. Xu, for the sake of the school’s new academic building, we’ll have to trouble you to give the tour."

’A new academic building?’

’Wasn’t donating five million for scholarships enough for Zhou Mochen? Now he’s donating a building?’

’Is his love for the cause of education really that profound?’

What could Xu Su do? After all, she was one of the scholarship recipients.

A few minutes later, she found herself standing in front of Zhou Mochen, expressionlessly leading him on an aimless wander around the campus.
