Chapter 343: Chapter 343: Terrifying Upon Reflection

After lunch, Xu Yi and the others continued on their journey.

The telescope was reasonably effective; targets as large as people within 2,000 meters were clear, but beyond that, it didn’t work well.

For now, it wasn’t very useful, so Xu Yi stored it in the Storage Space.

Until after nine o’clock at night, they hadn’t encountered that group; they seemed to be moving very quickly.

That was quite good, after all, Xu Yi didn’t want to engage in a fight with the other party.

Having reached an alien planet, it’s a bit ridiculous for everyone to still be fighting amongst themselves.

"Brother Xu, should we prepare to rest?" Zhou Mo checked the time and asked Xu Yi.

"Let’s walk for another hour. Everyone’s water supply is running low and can only last through tomorrow. So, we need to cover more distance at night to reach the Jungle Area faster," Xu Yi said seriously.

Because the daytime temperature was too high, it led to rapid water consumption. Apart from Lu Ke, the others didn’t have much drinking water left.

"We’ve been walking continuously for three days and two nights, not knowing when we’ll reach the Jungle Area," Liu Li licked her dry lips and opened her water bottle. She had been drinking sparingly, but still couldn’t conserve much.

"Hope we reach there soon. I’d rather fight Fierce Beasts than be on the move in this ghostly place with no plants. My eyes are nearly going blind," Zhou Chun said painfully.

Xu Yi felt that reaching the jungle might not be so easy; it might take several more days of walking.

Continuously traveling in such an environment is indeed a mental torment.

Physically, it’s not too bad; everyone’s bodies have been strengthened for a long time. They can sustain marching for a month, but mentally, they can’t hold on.

Walking in ’place’ for over ten days can quickly break your spirit.

An hour later, they stopped.

After resting a bit, eating some food, and drinking a little water, everyone went to sleep.

The night watch was Zhou Mo for the first half, and Xu Yi for the second half.

This night was relatively peaceful; apart from some Desert Rats in the second half of the night, no other creatures came close.

The next day, just before dawn, Xu Yi checked in.

Day 108 of checking in, Day 103 of the challenge, which meant it was the 4th day since they entered the Desert.

At dawn, Xu Yi used the telescope to scan all around but saw nothing.

Practiced the Eighteen Forms of Body Strengthening, ate, then set off to continue the journey.

Such days were extremely dull, and to avoid consuming water, everyone spoke very little.

"So silent, so boring, every live stream is like this, boring to death."

"So stifling, only encountering beasts can stir the nerves. Unfortunately, this Desert is so vast, and there are so few beasts. It’s really boring."

"Not watching anymore. I’ll come back when someone reaches the wilderness. If I keep watching, I’ll get depressed."

"These challengers really have it tough. It’s only the fourth day on a new map, and I’ve already seen several people on the verge of collapse."

"I wonder if anyone will give up because they can’t stand it, waiting for the next hundred days to go back as an eliminated participant. After all, now you can quit as a single person."

"I guess if they have to walk a few more days and still see no sign of the Jungle Area, someone might just give up."

"I think the worst is for those who spent all their points on water, only to drink the last drop and not reach the Jungle Area. That’s what I call collapse."

"Damn, if there’s no Jungle Area on this continent, will all the groups go crazy? After all, we can’t fully trust the organizers, can we?"

"Only the Desert? Thinking about it carefully, it’s terrifying to survive 100 days in a place like this. That’s too perverse!"

"It’s impossible, definitely impossible. There’s no way they’d challenge so many groups to survive in a place with no water for a hundred days. That’s too outrageous. If that’s the case, they wouldn’t need to hide it, would they?"

"It will definitely rain; it can’t possibly not rain for a hundred days. Besides, there are animals in the Desert. With water and food, why can’t they challenge for 100 days?"

Xu Yi and the other groups kept their heads down, focusing on the journey.

"Xu Yi, do you guys have any water left?" Lu Ke was about to pour herself some water and remembered the others, so she asked.

"I have a little left. What about you guys?" Xu Yi shook his bamboo tube, which contained his last bit of water.

"I have one mouthful left," Cheng Jie said.

"I don’t have any," Liu Li replied.

"Me neither," Zhou Chun shook his cup.

"I have half a bottle left," Zhou Mo took out a bottle of mineral water, which Liu Li had given him.

"Give me all your bottles; I still have plenty of water," Lu Ke said. After all, she had packed 0.5 cubic meters of water, which is 500 liters.

That equals 200 cans of 2.5 liters each. They currently need 1.5 liters per person per day, totaling 9 liters. Let’s say 10 liters a day, then they could last 20 days.

So now she’s especially glad she listened to Xu Yi’s suggestion that day and brought so much water.

"Sister Lu, how much is ’a lot’?" Zhou Mo swallowed and couldn’t help but ask.

"My Star Chart Space is full of water and nothing else," Lu Ke blinked and said.

"Really? That’s a lot, 500 liters! We can drink for about 20 days?" Zhou Mo said excitedly, then twisted open his water bottle and drank all the water inside.

If he had known there was so much water, he wouldn’t have held back until his throat was almost scorched.

Of course, he didn’t mean to blame Lu Ke.

After all, before, everyone only knew how much water they had. Besides, if they really ran out, they could use points to exchange for more, so there was no need to worry too much.

People are just like that; when there’s a fallback option, the heart won’t panic.

"That’s great; we can save a lot of points this way. Lu Ke, how did you guys think to bring so much water?" Zhou Chun said happily. He and Zhou Mo each brought just over three days’ worth of water. He thought three days would be enough to find a water source.

But who would have thought the new place would be such a vast Desert.

"I had a hunch," Xu Yi said two words. At that time, he indeed had the idea of bringing more water.

"Your hunch was spot on. So, how long do you think it will take to reach the Jungle Area?" Liu Li couldn’t help asking. The concept of a hunch was too mystical and something to believe in rather than ignore.

"At least ten more days; this might be bigger than the Sahara Desert," Xu Yi rubbed his nose and said. That’s how he felt.

If they could get out in ten days, that would be a good outcome.

Hearing Xu Yi’s words, everyone couldn’t help but click their tongues.

If it really is as big as the Sahara Desert, will they be able to get out in ten days?
