Live Strong in the Wilderness-Chapter 195: Trapped Underground
In wilderness survival, drinking urine isn’t unusual.
Quite a few celebrities who participated in survival programs have done it.
However, Lu Ke felt she couldn’t accept it.
"We’ll definitely get out, don’t worry," Xu Yi reassured them, though he was more concerned about temperatures dropping further. Right now, the temperature was hovering around freezing.
If it continues to drop, even if the four of them huddled together, it might not be enough to endure.
Unfortunately, there’s no firewood here and no way to start a fire.
The top was covered by wood, which could block some of the cold.
The fierce wind outside continued, so none of them dared to sleep.
As time passed, the wind outside seemed to gradually calm down.
"Xu Yi, has the wind outside stopped? Can we go out now?" Lu Ke asked in the darkness. It was so pitch-black that even the Star Chart couldn’t show the time, so she had no idea how long it had been.
Lu Ke felt as though it had been over ten hours.
She was very tired but remembered Xu Yi said they couldn’t sleep. Sleeping would cause body temperature to drop.
The current temperature was very low, and if body temperature decreases, one might freeze to death.
So she kept reminding herself not to sleep, to stay awake.
"Even if it hasn’t stopped, it should have diminished quite a bit. Let’s give it a try, see if we can get out. Be careful, there are still some spiky areas; they need to be removed before we can get out," Xu Yi said, then crawled forward slightly.
Moving to a different spot, he tried to push from below to see if he could shift the fallen trunks above.
Wang Jin and Lu Yao began to move too, trying to find an exit.
The farther they moved, the colder Wang Jin’s heart felt.
She knew the scope of this trap Xu Yi dug was limited, and if they couldn’t find an exit, they truly were trapped.
"Over here, we can get out through here," Xu Yi’s voice reached Wang Jin and Lu Yao’s ears.
"Sis, we can get out, we can get out," Wang Jin said happily, then crawled toward Xu Yi.
Actually, she had mild claustrophobia, making such confinement extremely uncomfortable for her.
Outside, the sky remained dark, but the stars could be seen.
The wind had lessened significantly, but still maintained a force of level five to six, making Xu Yi shiver.
"It’s too cold outside, let’s go back inside and come out when the sun is up," Xu Yi said, preparing to crawl back in.
No doubt, when daylight comes, they’ll witness the astonishing destructive power of the storm.
After taking a breath of fresh air, they retreated back inside.
Knowing they can now get out reduces some of their anxiety.
After all, the wind has died down significantly.
Perhaps, by sunrise, the wind will completely cease.
In the pit now, their mindset has shifted; no longer as fearful and anxious as before.
"The storm has completely wiped out our camp. Great, now we have to rebuild," Wang Jin complained.
Xu Yi’s camp was destroyed, and no doubt theirs couldn’t escape damage either.
"I’m worried the destruction isn’t limited to the camp. If a lot of animals die, we’ll have nothing but bark to chew on," Xu Yi said in concern. Having seen a fox blown skyward earlier, he worried about how many animals might perish in this storm.
"Then... we can collect carcasses tomorrow and make jerky. If that’s not possible, we can turn them into cured meat, which can last for years," Wang Jin said, growing increasingly optimistic.
"It’s easy to say, if it were that simple, Xu Yi wouldn’t be worried," Lu Yao commented, finding Wang Jin’s thinking too naive.
"Who can say? Maybe it is that easy," Wang Jin retorted, pouting her lips. Knowing Lu Yao couldn’t see her, she stuck out her tongue at her.
As time passed, the sky gradually brightened.
"It’s daylight, there’s light," Lu Ke, almost asleep, shouted, nudging Xu Yi beside her.
"Let’s go, get out," Xu Yi said, crawling out from below.
Once outside, the four of them saw the scene before them.
The four exchanged glances and looked towards the ocean.
They could now see the sea.
Countless trees had fallen, leaving less than 10 percent standing.
Now, they had a clear view of the ocean.
"What level is this storm??"
"Is this wind or a blade, with entire forests wiped out?"
"Terrifying. Without that trap, Xu Yi and his group would have been doomed."
"I thought this world was safe. My God, if this storm happened in our world, how many would die, how many trillions lost."
"I, I’m never coming to this planet again, too frightening."
Lu Ke tugged at Xu Yi’s clothes, then said, "We’re not dreaming, right?"
Xu Yi shook his head, though he wished it were a dream.
"We’re not dreaming. This storm was indeed terrifying. But, such storms shouldn’t be common, these trees have grown for decades, even longer," Lu Yao said, kicking at a fallen trunk.
Even if they were a hundred years old, Lu Yao thought it was plausible.
"But we’ve only been here for 47 days, and already experienced a storm of decades or even a century magnitude. Isn’t that strange?" Wang Jin said loudly, looking towards the sea.
The filming drone, as if unaffected by any of it, hovered back into the air and started recording them.
"Do you think this storm could have been orchestrated by the organizers?" Lu Ke asked quietly, feeling the storm’s sudden arrival and timing too convenient.
Why were there no issues before they arrived on this planet for the challenge, yet after their arrival, this terrifying storm erupted?
This forest had been completely destroyed.
Now, they had no choice but to relocate their camp.
Here, hunting was no longer possible.
"It’s possible. They have the means and reasons. Maybe we were having it too easy, so they decided to raise the difficulty," Wang Jin followed Lu Ke’s lead, voicing her speculation.
"But the difficulty is a bit much, like hell level," Xu Yi muttered, thinking there’s no need for the organizers to make such a big impact.
If they wanted to increase the challenge, issuing a territory mission would suffice, without causing such chaos.
