Live-in Son-in-law-Chapter 1157: The More You Sweat in Training, the Less You Bleed in Battle
Qin Yi was a bit surprised; they had just exchanged blows, Cheng Fei should know she wouldn't be his match.
Besides, for such a major affair, wasn't Cheng Fei's agreement a bit too hasty?
"Are you sure?" Qin Yi asked suspiciously.
"I, Cheng Fei, have roamed the battlefield for decades and never failed to keep a promise. As long as you win the spear in my hand, I will agree to support the Third Princess."
Qin Yi nodded slightly, "Very well, I agree too."
"Let's do it." Cheng Fei picked up her spear and walked outside.
Qin Yi pondered for a moment, then followed her steps.
The two of them, one in front and one behind, arrived at the training ground.
On the training ground, many soldiers were in the midst of training. Upon seeing Cheng Fei, they all saluted.
Cheng Fei waved her hand, turned, and pointed at Qin Yi, "Do you know who he is?"
The crowd saw Qin Yi's handsome appearance and assumed he must be a young noble from some prominent family, but did not recognize him and shook their heads.
"He is the Qin Yi who severed the heads of the Three Kings of the Tianyue Empire," Cheng Fei announced loudly.
The soldiers on site widened their eyes, staring at Qin Yi as if looking at a rare creature.
Qin Yi's lips curled slightly; to him, slaying the Three Kings of the Tianyue Empire was no big deal, he never took it to heart. But unexpectedly, these people cared greatly about it.
The truth was, the Tianyue and Yunyue countries had been at war for years, commanded by the Twelve Kings and Twelve War Generals. Thus, to these soldiers, killing a powerful enemy did not necessarily shock them. However, the Twelve Kings of the Tianyue Empire were a different matter; they were old foes.
Cheng Fei crisply shouted, "All of you, get to the side. Today I'm sparring with Young Master Qin. Open your eyes wide; these learning opportunities are rare."
Qin Yi: "..."
What did this woman mean? At their level of combat, these soldiers probably couldn't see their movements or shadows, let alone learn anything. Wouldn't this just embarrass them?
Cheng Fei looked at Qin Yi, "Young Master Qin, I know your cultivation is profound. But today, we are not comparing cultivation, but moves."
Qin Yi was slightly stunned, then quickly understood. Without the support of cultivation, the power of their moves would be much lessened, making them clearer for these soldiers to observe. Cheng Fei had really put in a lot of effort for training these soldiers.
"Alright!" Qin Yi nodded in agreement.
"Then what weapon will Young Master Qin use? I'll have someone fetch it for you."
Qin Yi smiled and said, "No need."
At those words, he reached out into the air, and the Flood Dragon Spear appeared in his hand.
Everyone present was shocked; not everyone knew about the existence of the Blood Flood Dragon, and seeing Qin Yi pull a weapon out of thin air left them all gaping in astonishment.
However, Cheng Fei, being a Great Perfection Body Integration Realm expert, naturally knew about the Blood Flood Dragon.
"I truly didn't expect Young Master Qin to have such fortune, capturing a Blood Flood Dragon to turn into a weapon."
Qin Yi smiled, "Is this considered bullying you then?"
"No matter! The golden spear in my hand is no ordinary item either."
Qin Yi nodded slightly; the golden spear in Cheng Fei's hand was nearly at the level of a Holy Artifact.
Cheng Fei held her spear horizontally, pointing at Qin Yi from a distance, "Please!"
Qin Yi grasped his halberd and stepped towards Cheng Fei.
But who knew, Cheng Fei stamped her foot, accelerating toward Qin Yi, even without using cultivation. Cheng Fei's speed was still quick, her golden spear shooting towards Qin Yi like an arrow.
"Clang!"
The halberd whirled wildly, the clashing of metal resounding loudly, forcibly diverting Cheng Fei's spear.
Who knew Cheng Fei ducked low, passing under the sweep of Qin Yi's halberd, turning her spear around for a standard Return Spear.
It seemed as if Qin Yi had predicted Cheng Fei's move; he raised his halberd, and with a ringing clang, the spear tip struck against its shaft, showering sparks.
Qin Yi suddenly performed an unbelievable action; releasing the halberd, he let it slide horizontally along the spear shaft.
Cheng Fei was startled, but her reaction was swift. Leaning back, her body bent like a bow, her toes kicking up to strike the halberd, not only sending it flying but also directing her spear tip diagonally upward toward Qin Yi.
Qin Yi swiftly retreated a step, not expecting Cheng Fei to have such a move—what rapid response. Cheng Fei's techniques were unbound, seemingly developed on the battlefield, and extremely potent.
Cheng Fei's thrust missed as she straightened, her spear shooting toward Qin Yi like a released arrow.
Qin Yi sidestepped, closing in on the spear, spinning swiftly to prevent Cheng Fei from changing her move, forcing her to continue pulling back her spear.
In this exchange, Qin Yi pulled the Flood Dragon Spear from where it was embedded in the ground and thrust it forward with lightning speed.
Clashing metal sounds filled the air, accompanied by a shower of sparks.
The more Qin Yi fought, the more he admired Cheng Fei for her self-devised techniques and rich combat experience, making her hard to beat.
The two were locked in a fierce battle, equally matched.
Though neither used cultivation, their formidable techniques left the surrounding soldiers in awe.
"Clang!"
Halberd and spear collided directly.
Cheng Fei was shaken back, her long sword vibrating painfully in her hands.
Qin Yi's physical strength was formidable. Even if Cheng Fei used her cultivation, she might not defeat Qin Yi fighting without cultivation.
Thrown back, Cheng Fei's eyes flickered with shock at Qin Yi's strength, unaware that he had already been holding back. Otherwise, the last strike could have destroyed her spear and severely injured her.
Cheng Fei let out a shout, shaking her wrist, and attacked once more.
The two clashed again, the halberd whistling, spear flashes intersecting, metals clashing without pause, as the battle reached a stalemate.
"Bang!"
Cheng Fei's fierce downward strike was evaded by Qin Yi, her spear smashing the stone slabs on the ground to pieces.
"Swoosh!"
The halberd gleamed, thrusting out like a bolt of lightning.
Cheng Fei's expression changed drastically, realizing it was too late to block with her spear; she raised her hand to grasp the halberd's blade directly.
Qin Yi was taken aback, hurriedly pulling back the halberd. Without cultivation, Cheng Fei's hands couldn't withstand the halberd's sharpness; if not for his quick retraction, her hand would have been severed.
"Are you planning to lose your hand?" Qin Yi frowned.
Cheng Fei loudly declared, "On the battlefield, surviving matters most. Losing both hands but saving a life is worthwhile."
Qin Yi frowned deeply, "This is just a spar; there's no need to gamble everything."
"The more sweat spilled in peace, the less blood in war. In real battles, the enemy won't play games with you," Cheng Fei replied, as she flicked the spear with her toe, grasped it, and charged at Qin Yi once more.
"Hold on!" Qin Yi raised a hand to stop her.
Cheng Fei's steps halted, "I haven't lost yet."
"I know, but I plan to change weapons."
"What weapon?"
"A dagger."
Cheng Fei frowned, "You intend to use a dagger against my spear? Don't you know that length implies strength?"
Qin Yi smiled, "But do you know a shorter length holds greater risk?"
Cheng Fei scoffed, "Then I shall see. Someone, bring Young Master Qin a dagger."
