Chapter 69: Chapter 69: Intimidated

The reason Silas Sutton came upstairs was entirely because Stella Grant wasn’t answering her phone.

He didn’t know Ray Woods had already left, and under Forrest Keller’s instigation, he concocted an emotional drama out of nothing.

Actually, the moment he stepped onto the stairs, he regretted it, but in the end, he couldn’t control his legs.

Later, he heard Stella Grant’s sobbing.

They met, one looking up, the other down, in the dim stairwell.

Stella Grant’s eyes were red, and from crying so hard, even her nose tip was red.

Seeing her not speaking, Silas Sutton furrowed his brows slightly, "Speak."

Stella Grant felt a lump in her throat, clenching her hands at her sides, her mind in chaos, trying to form words, "My mom fainted, I called 120, but the stairway is too narrow, I’m worried the stretcher can’t get up, I..."

Before Stella Grant could finish, Silas Sutton strode upstairs under her gaze, "Take me inside."

Stella Grant couldn’t afford to think too much now, and upon hearing Silas Sutton’s words, she led the way.

They quickly walked to Mrs. Grant, and Silas Sutton said in a deep voice, ’Make way,’ crouched and picked up Mrs. Grant, then turned to Stella Grant, "Let’s go, Forrest Keller is downstairs."

Stella Grant, "I’ve already called 120."

Silas Sutton, "Don’t waste time."

After saying that, Silas Sutton took the lead.

On the way to the hospital, Stella Grant made another call to the hospital, explaining to them that she’d pay the fee, but the ambulance was no longer needed, to avoid wasting resources and making them run a trip for nothing.

The car sped, arriving at the hospital twenty minutes later.

From entering the emergency room, to registering and handling the hospitalization procedures, Silas Sutton took care of it all personally.

Once everything was done, he arranged for Forrest Keller to buy daily necessities for the hospital stay.

Stella Grant accompanied Mrs. Grant in the emergency room for examinations, tense and with her heart in her throat.

The doctor examined Mrs. Grant and made a call.

When the call connected, the doctor glanced at Stella Grant and asked the person on the line, "Dr. Harrison, did you receive a patient named Lynn Adler before?"

Stella Grant couldn’t hear what was said on the other end, only seeing the emergency room doctor’s face growing grimmer, "Yes, she is in the emergency room now."

After a while, he added, "Alright, come over."

The call ended, and the doctor looked at Stella Grant, "Your mom has stayed at our hospital before, she has her longtime attending physician, I’ve already contacted him, he’ll be here shortly."

Upon hearing this, a sense of unease rose in Stella Grant’s heart, "Doctor, what illness does my mom have?"

Seeing she was alone, the doctor couldn’t bear to disclose the truth, "Wait for Dr. Harrison to arrive, he’ll explain the patient’s condition in detail."

Mrs. Grant’s illness came so suddenly, Stella Grant wasn’t prepared at all.

Not only was she mentally unprepared, but financially unprepared as well.

Over the years, most of her earnings went towards paying off debts, the remaining money barely covering daily expenses for her and Mrs. Grant.

It wasn’t that she lacked crisis awareness, the external debts were too much, she wanted to pay them off quickly so Mrs. Grant could hold her head high.

Mrs. Grant had been strong all her life, but in recent years, she had to humble herself in front of relatives and friends.

Mrs. Grant never mentioned it, but Stella Grant couldn’t pretend not to see.

Silas Sutton and Dr. Harrison entered almost simultaneously.

Holding the completed paperwork, Silas Sutton walked to Stella Grant’s side, while Justin Harrison first checked on Mrs. Grant’s condition.

A few minutes later, Justin Harrison removed his stethoscope and looked at Stella Grant, "Are you Aunt Adler’s daughter?"

Stella Grant replied, "Yes."

Justin Harrison, with a hint of a smirk, said, "Seeing is believing."

His words carried a personal sentiment, and anyone could see he was mocking Stella Grant.

Stella Grant wasn’t foolish, pursed her lips slightly, knowing it wasn’t the time for emotions, asked, "Dr. Harrison, what illness does my mom have?"

Justin Harrison looked down at Stella Grant, "As a child, you don’t even know what illness your parents have?"

Stella Grant was at a loss for words, just about to explain when Silas Sutton coldly interrupted, "As a doctor, you can’t even adhere to basic professional ethics, is it the entire hospital’s lack of professionalism, or is it your personal issue?"

Silas Sutton naturally carried a strong presence, especially when not smiling, making people around him uneasy.

Justin Harrison raised his head, about to get angry, but a senior doctor behind him pulled him, "Harrison."

Recent years saw severe medical disputes, and just last week, an orthopedist got into a physical altercation with a patient’s family, resulting in a hefty settlement.

Justin Harrison took a deep breath, calming his emotions, "Aunt Adler has uremia, she urgently needs surgery."

Upon hearing his words, Stella Grant’s mind went blank, her body swayed, almost losing balance.

Fortunately, Silas Sutton was just behind her, reaching out to support her waist, "Don’t panic."
