Lingering Passion: Mr. Sutton Wants to be Your Male Lead!-Chapter 67: Persuading Him to Give Up
Silas used objects as metaphors for people.
Stella Grant took a shallow breath, afraid of overthinking, yet also afraid of not thinking enough, "Some things, knowing you shouldn’t touch, it’s best not to. Knowing something can’t be done yet doing it, if successful it’s called courage, if failed it’s utter foolishness."
Silas raised an eyebrow, half-smiling, "Are you advising me to accept fate when knowing it can’t be done?"
Stella remained calm, "Yes."
Silas sneered lightly, "What if I don’t take the advice?"
Stella responded, "President Sutton doesn’t seem like a fool."
Silas suddenly smiled, "Yes, I’m not a fool."
As Silas finished speaking, the car fell into a brief silence.
After the silence, Silas stretched his long legs and said, "About that project from a couple of days ago, I need you to revise the proposal."
Talking about business, Stella became distant, "How do you want it revised?"
Silas said, "Some details need to be amended, make it more meticulous, just like your feasibility plan, it looks fine on the surface, but actually, it’s full of loopholes."
Stella, "..."
The revision Silas suggested was ambiguous.
It sounded like a suggestion, but in reality, it wasn’t one at all.
This reminded Stella of the routine when dealing with many major clients.
—We need it to be more fashionable.
—We need a bit more substance.
—We need to elevate the tone.
Did they make requests?
Yes, they did.
But what exactly did they request?
No one knows.
Stella wanted to handle Silas the same way she handled other clients, sincerely, "Okay, when do you need the revised proposal?"
Silas looked at her and asked in a deep voice, "How soon can you complete it?"
Stella said, "Next Monday?"
Silas frowned, "Too slow."
Stella then said, "Then tomorrow night?"
Silas’s frown didn’t relax, "Can’t it be tonight?"
Stella, "..."
Stella asked herself, she wasn’t someone who maliciously speculated on others’ intentions.
But at this moment, she was very sure that Silas was just picking a fight.
As Silas finished speaking and saw her remain silent, he asked indifferently, "Is it difficult?"
Stella replied, "Not difficult."
The difficulty wasn’t in rewriting the proposal, but in the tight schedule.
But she couldn’t directly tell Silas these things.
Saying it would mean mixing personal feelings with professional matters.
No client would appreciate complaints about the hard work unless you want to throw in the towel.
As Stella got out of Silas’s car, she didn’t look happy.
Forrest Keller saw her and smiled, "Manager Grant."
Stella mustered a smile, "I’ve finished talking with President Sutton, I’ll send the revised project proposal to him tonight."
Forrest had no idea what Silas and Stella talked about, but nodded, "Thank you, Manager Grant."
Stella, "No problem."
A few minutes later, after watching Stella enter the residential area, Forrest returned to the car.
Silas appeared expressionless, but in truth, emotions were surging in his eyes.
Forrest thought for a moment and decided to report what he’d found, "President Sutton, I just ran into the sales manager, Ray Woods, at Manager Grant’s place."
Ray Woods.
Sue Woods.
Stella had mentioned before that her new boyfriend was Sue Woods’ cousin.
A network of relationships quickly formed in Silas’s mind, and he asked darkly, "The same Ray Woods who joined the company around the same time as you?"
It was rare for Silas to remember someone.
Forrest replied, "Yes."
Silas asked knowingly, "Are they dating?"
Forrest felt a chill on his scalp, "They seem to be."
Silas sneered, "Seem?"
Forrest, "No, not seem, I’m certain. I asked Manager Grant while coming downstairs if she’s dating Ray Woods, she said yes, and moreover..."
Moreover what, Forrest didn’t continue, hesitant to speak further.
Silas noticed this and half-squinted his eyes, "Moreover what?"
Facing Silas’s pressing questions, Forrest was internally panicking, regretting his earlier nosiness, but things had escalated to a point where avoiding the answer was no longer possible.
"Moreover, it’s the first time I’ve seen Manager Grant show such a girlish demeanor when mentioning someone, I think she really likes Ray Woods."
Forrest quickly finished what he had to say, then sealed his lips shut.
Forrest’s thoughts: Risking life and death.
