Lingering Passion: Mr. Sutton Wants to be Your Male Lead!-Chapter 53: Well Hidden
The atmosphere froze instantly.
Along with it, came Sue Woods’ indescribable expression.
After about half a minute, Stella Grant took a deep breath, turned back, and greeted Silas Sutton with an official smile, "President Sutton."
Silas Sutton had his shirt sleeves rolled up to his elbows, revealing a section of muscular forearm, "Need any help?"
Stella Grant smiled, "No need, you and Mr. Lawson take a seat for a moment, it’ll be ready soon."
Silas Sutton glanced at her slightly damp hair, "Let me do it, you go dry your hair?"
Stella Grant gently refused, "Really, no need. Thank you for your kind offer."
Stella Grant’s refusal was quite resolute, as if her whole body was covered in thorns, afraid of getting entangled with Silas Sutton.
Seeing this, Silas Sutton didn’t insist further, nodded, and turned to the living room.
Seeing Silas Sutton leave, Sue Woods exhaled deeply, patted her chest a few times casually, "Silas Sutton’s presence is too strong, I almost suffocated."
Seeing Sue Woods’ exaggerated behavior, Stella Grant couldn’t help but smile, "I couldn’t tell if you suffocated, but your eyes almost sparked." 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
Talking about making eye gestures, Sue Woods said to her, "You have no tacit understanding."
Stella Grant, "This isn’t about tacit understanding, it’s about metaphysics."
Stella Grant and Sue Woods were whispering in the kitchen, the two men outside weren’t idle either.
Ben Lawson laughed and looked at Silas Sutton, lowering his voice slightly, "Didn’t you say you don’t like her? Why are you eager to check on her?"
Silas Sutton kept a straight face, "Out of courtesy."
Ben Lawson, "Is it out of courtesy? Or following your heart?"
Silas Sutton glanced at Ben Lawson, his expression unclear, "Regarding you impersonating me, I haven’t settled the score with you yet."
Regarding this matter, Ben Lawson knew he was at fault, raised his hand to touch his nose, coughed lightly, stood up, diverted the topic saying, "Don’t underestimate Stella Grant’s apartment, it’s quite cozy."
Silas Sutton’s gaze swept towards the kitchen, his features cold and hard when he wasn’t smiling.
Stella Grant’s cooking skills took after Mrs. Grant, tasteful and speedy.
In less than twenty minutes, everyone had already tasted the roasted meat.
Ben Lawson took a few bites, full of praise, "This skill, is amazing."
Stella Grant, upon hearing, proactively used the public chopsticks to pick up a few pieces of roasted meat and placed them on Ben Lawson’s plate, "The beef tastes even better."
Ben Lawson, "I’ll try."
Saying so, Ben Lawson picked up the beef ready to eat, halfway there, suddenly sensed an unignorable cold gaze watching him.
The beef barely entered his mouth, Ben Lawson turned the chopsticks and handed the meat to Silas Sutton, "Actually, I’m not very fond of beef, Mr. Sutton, why don’t you taste it."
Silas Sutton’s face was expressionless, picked up the beef and ate it, "Tastes good."
The interaction between the two was seen clearly by Stella Grant and Sue Woods across.
They were all perceptive people, nothing said, yet clearly understood inside.
Sue Woods knew Stella Grant wanted to distance herself from Silas Sutton, her eyes shifted, raised her gaze and said, "Don’t forget to bring my brother home this Saturday."
Stella Grant paused her hand grilling the meat, met Sue Woods’ eyes, and understood immediately this time, "Okay."
Sue Woods, "When you marry my brother, you better give me two big red envelopes, one for changing terms, one for matchmaking fee."
This topic Sue Woods started was quite far-fetched, and a bit fanciful, only Stella Grant kept her cool, not displaying any fear, "Don’t worry, you won’t miss out on your red envelope."
The two were conversing, oblivious to others.
Ben Lawson nudged Silas Sutton’s leg under the table, when the latter looked over, he inquired with his eyes: What’s going on? Someone’s beaten you to it again? Others are perpetually second place, you’re perpetually third?
Silas Sutton’s eyes turned towards him coldly, not as complicated as his, just one expression: Get lost.
Ben Lawson lowered his head awkwardly, after a while, he raised his head asking Stella Grant, "I brought wine, would you two like some?"
Stella Grant smiled back, "Sue Woods and I don’t handle alcohol well, but we can have a little."
Ben Lawson didn’t push, "Okay, drink as much as you can, our aim is to enjoy, not to get drunk."
Ben Lawson brought white wine, smooth to the taste.
As they drank and talked, after a few rounds, they unknowingly drank quite a bit.
Stella Grant drank a lot but didn’t cause a scene, just had slightly red eyes.
She flipped the roasted meat a few times, then suddenly looked up at Ben Lawson and asked, "I’ve always been curious, what does your name ’Phoebe’ mean?"
Ben Lawson had also drunk a lot by now but not excessively, upon hearing, he turned to Silas Sutton seeking help.
Silas Sutton knew Ben Lawson was looking at him, yet didn’t look back, lowered his gaze, playing with the wine glass with his elegant fingers.
Seeing Silas Sutton unmoved, Ben Lawson called softly, "Fourth Brother."
Stella Grant asked with reddened eyes, "Is it inconvenient to say?"
Silas Sutton raised his eyelids lightly, answered for Ben Lawson, "It’s inconvenient."
—— Phoebe strong, leader of the nation.
Phoebe usually refers to the elder brother, but here, it means husband.
