Lingering Passion: Mr. Sutton Wants to be Your Male Lead!-Chapter 47: Disrespectful Elder
Silas Sutton was never a saint.
In his entire life, he had only ever supported Stella Grant.
Hearing this from Ben Lawson, his face instantly darkened.
Ben Lawson dared not breathe over the phone, and after a long pause, he said with a half-laugh, "Mr. Sutton, I really didn’t mean to, it’s just a misunderstanding..."
Silas Sutton’s voice was cold and hard, "What’s going on exactly?"
Ben Lawson said, "It’s hard to explain in a few words. I’m on my way to your office now, and I’ll explain face-to-face."
On the other side, Sue Woods had already shifted the topic from Ben Lawson to Silas Sutton.
Sue Woods blinked and asked Stella Grant, "Were you really at Silas Sutton’s house last night?"
Stella Grant made a sound of acknowledgment and said truthfully, "He had a high fever last night and dialed the wrong number. He meant to call Forrest Keller but accidentally called me."
Sue Woods said, "Do you believe such a lame excuse?"
Stella Grant calmly said, "It’s not a lie. When I got there, he was completely out of it from the fever."
Hearing Stella Grant say this, Sue Woods didn’t doubt her, "Well, that’s quite a coincidence."
Talking about Silas Sutton’s fever-induced delirium, Stella Grant suddenly remembered that inexplicable kiss from the night before.
Silas Sutton had said: Stella Grant, do you think I don’t dare?
Dare what?
Even now, Stella Grant still hadn’t figured out what he meant.
The two chatted intermittently, and Stella turned her head to ask, "Where are you heading now? Home or the office?"
Sue Woods tugged at Stella’s coat, "Stella, can you take half a day off to keep me company today? Honestly, I’m still quite shaken up."
Stella Grant smiled gently, "That’s unlike you." 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
Sue Woods said, "Can’t help it, the hero without money loses his spirit."
Stella Grant really agreed with Sue Woods on this.
In the reality of society, you can go anywhere with money, but without it, you can’t take a single step.
Stella Grant made a U-turn at the intersection ahead, called her company via car Bluetooth to give some instructions, and then drove to her residential area.
"What do you want to eat? I’ll cook for you today."
Sue Woods feigned girly affection and leaned on Stella’s shoulder, "It’s gotta be you, Stella. If you were a man, I’d marry you no matter what."
Stella Grant pushed her away with her elbow, "Too bad ’if’ doesn’t exist."
As they spoke, the car arrived at Stella Grant’s residential area.
They parked the car in the community lot and then walked to the supermarket at the entrance to buy ingredients.
Sue Woods had picky tastes, and having suffered such a mental blow today, ordinary ingredients wouldn’t soothe her wounded soul.
Stella Grant went to the fresh food section and picked up some beef and lamb, and then some salmon.
Sue Woods followed behind pushing the cart, "Hot pot?"
Stella Grant turned to pick vegetables, "Barbecue."
Sue Woods salivated before even eating, "At home?"
Stella Grant said, "Didn’t you say a few days ago you wanted to eat at home? I bought a grill, so let’s try it out this time."
Sue Woods asked, "Then why did you buy salmon?"
Stella Grant smiled charmingly, "To indulge a bit, I’ll make you a cold dish."
At the mention of food, Sue Woods instantly felt that Stella’s image rose to six feet three in her mind and hugged her arm, "Stella, let’s be partners even if it’s not romantic, I’ll treat you well."
Stella Grant pulled her arm away from her grasp, "My life is already a mess, leave me a bit of peace."
The ingredients cost more than five hundred, and when they got to the checkout counter, Sue Woods insisted on paying.
Stella held a bunch of bags and couldn’t stop her, so once they left the supermarket, she transferred six hundred to Sue Woods on Alipay.
Sue Woods’ Alipay had a voice notification.
Hearing the sound, she looked at Stella Grant with a stern face, "Are you crazy? You even let me earn extra?"
Stella Grant chuckled lightly, "I’m not giving it to you for free. I just forgot to buy drinks and alcohol earlier. Since I’m carrying all this stuff, it’s inconvenient for me. You go back and buy some more; keep the change."
Sue Woods softly complained, "I don’t lack a small amount of money."
Stella Grant said, "But I cherish you as a friend."
Between friends, fairness is important. Occasionally, once or twice is fine, but if it happens more often, nobody’s money is earned by a gust of wind.
Sue Woods felt sorry for her family situation.
She couldn’t take advantage of Sue Woods’ family issues and keep taking from her.
And even if Sue Woods were a fat sheep, over time, it’d be left bald and fleece-less.
Stella Grant spoke in a calm yet earnest tone; Sue Woods couldn’t refuse her and turned to go back into the supermarket.
Once Sue Woods reentered the supermarket, Stella Grant placed the pile of items on the steps at the community entrance.
It was too heavy, and her hands hurt from the pressure.
Stella Grant was bending down, stretching her fingers marked by white indentations without blood flow when suddenly a chill hit her face, and with it came a pungent smell of blood.
Before Stella Grant could look up, Sue Woods’ scream came from the supermarket entrance, "Stella!!"
Stella Grant pressed her lips together, wiped the blood off her face with her hand, and looked up.
Mrs. Shepherd stood before her, furious, holding a small red bucket, from which black dog blood still dripped.
When Stella Grant looked up at her, Mrs. Shepherd began to curse.
"Black dog blood, specifically to ward off evil."
"I went to the market early this morning to buy freshly drawn black dog blood."
"Everyone come and see this jinx. Before my son got involved with you, everything was smooth. He had a bright future. Ever since you were together, nothing goes right, and now he’s even fired."
"You’re out there having affairs, and in the end, you slander my son. Is there no justice left in this world?"
The more Mrs. Shepherd cursed, the more invigorated she became. The crowd at the community entrance grew larger, curious to watch the spectacle.
Seeing this, Sue Woods took off her blazer to cover Stella Grant, then pulled out wet wipes from her bag to wipe her face.
Stella Grant didn’t accept them and pushed Sue Woods aside with her hand, taking a deep breath as she approached Mrs. Shepherd.
At five-foot-seven, Stella Grant wasn’t short among women.
Mrs. Shepherd was intimidated by her height and couldn’t help but take two steps back, "Wha-what are you doing?"
Stella Grant’s expression was cold, and she slapped her across the face.
Mrs. Shepherd staggered back several steps from the blow.
Stella Grant immediately stepped forward, "People can talk nonsense, but they cannot twist the facts. Likewise, you can pull rank, but not disrespect others."
