Lingering Passion: Mr. Sutton Wants to be Your Male Lead!-Chapter 114: There Are No Secrets That Can Be Kept Forever
A few minutes later, Sue Woods entered the room with Ray Woods, holding a cup of iced cola, sitting cross-legged on the sofa and continuing the conversation with Stella Grant from the phone earlier.
When it came to the Shelby family’s eldest daughter, Charlotte Shelby, Sue was full of emotion.
"You talk about that eldest daughter from the Shelby family. She has the looks, the figure, and her family background is so good, why does she have to hang herself on Silas Sutton’s..."
Sue wanted to say ’crooked tree,’ but as the words were about to leave her mouth, she couldn’t bring herself to say it, so she pondered for a few seconds and changed it to a more fitting descriptor, "why does she have to hang herself on Silas Sutton’s black-hearted tree."
After the waves from earlier, Stella Grant had already calmed down completely.
Sue said what she wanted, while Stella sat in the single-seater sofa beside, opened a food delivery app and started ordering.
"Have you two eaten?"
As soon as eating was mentioned, Sue quickly switched the topic from Charlotte Shelby, "Not yet, have you eaten?" 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
Stella’s slender, fair fingers swiped across the screen, "I ate a bit, but I’m not full."
Sue, "Who did you eat with?"
Without looking up, Stella automatically skipped over Silas Sutton, "Hugh York."
Sue nodded at that, "That would make it difficult to eat well, dining with such a big boss, the mental pressure is enough to make you full, where’s the mood to enjoy the food."
Stella slightly lifted her gaze, "What do you guys want to eat?"
Sue jumped off the sofa and leaned closer to Stella, sitting on the armrest beside her, "What special dishes are there?"
Stella handed her the phone, "See for yourself."
Taking the phone naturally, Sue scrolled through it for about seven or eight minutes before handing it back to Stella, "Chosen."
Stella took back the phone and, seeing the items in the shopping cart, looked at her uncertainly, "Are you sure?"
Sue, "Of course I’m sure!"
Stella, "Didn’t you say you wanted Portmere specialties?"
Fried chicken, skewers, and beer, are these considered Portmere specialties?
With a serious face, Sue said, "Why not? Every place’s fried chicken and skewers have their local flair, right?"
Facing Sue’s confident argument, Stella was lost for words.
After checking out Sue’s order, Stella handed the phone to Ray, "See what you want to eat."
When Stella asked, Ray was bent over texting a colleague. Hearing her, he looked up, "I’m not picky, whatever you two eat, I’ll eat with you."
After speaking, Ray smiled at Stella and stood up to make a call.
Watching Ray make the call with a serious expression, Sue smirked and muttered under her breath, "Isn’t my brother all pretend at your company?"
Stella said honestly, "He has a particularly good reputation at Sutton Group."
Sue sneered, "People at your Sutton Group are easily fooled."
Stella teased, "Do you siblings have some private grudge?"
Sue, "If it weren’t for the blood relation, we could totally say we have a deep-seated grudge."
Stella raised her eyebrow in curiosity, "Such a big grudge, what’s the root of it?"
Sue showed a moderate look of sorrow, tilted her head up forty-five degrees to the ceiling, and sighed, "This grudge traces back a long time ago, back then, I was just one year old, and he was three..."
Stella, "Did he beat you up?"
Sue bowed her head, "No, he stole my diapers."
Stella was choked, looking at Sue’s serious expression, her gossiping heart calmed down.
When the takeout arrived, Ray had just finished the call.
The three of them chatted and ate, Stella and Ray discussed work, which Sue couldn’t understand and could hardly join in.
Ray said, "I heard if you can clinch Shawn Bishop’s project this time, the commission won’t be small."
Stella smiled, "Indeed, there are no walls without leaks in this world."
Ray picked up the beer to clink with Stella, "That’s a good thing, you earn your commission with your ability, whether it leaks or not doesn’t matter."
Sue seized the gap to chime in, "That’s true, but in this society, there are many people green with envy. Seeing you make money feels worse for them than losing money themselves."
Ray, "If they’re upset, let them be. If they have green eyes, let them get checked. Can’t even finish your own tasks, why worry about petty people being sick?"
Ray’s words were especially wise, Sue was stunned for a second, then clasped her hands in respect towards him, "Absence for three days should make one view him with new eyes, Brother Ray, just a few days and your image in my eyes has suddenly grown."
Ray feigned displeasure, "Just grown? Not mighty?"
Seeing that the siblings were used to putting on an act, Sue pretended to look troubled, "There’s a little gap to mighty, it seems."
The two siblings, while normal apart, together become a lively duo.
With two bottles of beer consumed, Ray stretched his legs, stood up, and said, "I need to go to the bathroom."
By then, Stella had already forgotten there was someone else in the bathroom, she smiled and continued chatting with Sue.
A minute later, a ’bang’ sound came from the bathroom.
Stella and Sue both froze.
Suddenly Stella thought of something, and the chopsticks slipped from her hand.
