Lingering Passion: Mr. Sutton Wants to be Your Male Lead!-Chapter 111: Fearless Backed by Support
Silas Sutton assumed a cavalier attitude, said, and then half-closed his eyes, smiling faintly as he stared at Stella Grant.
Stella Grant hadn’t drunk tonight and was unusually clear-headed, "How does President Sutton want me to handle it?"
Silas Sutton didn’t expect Stella Grant to face the question directly, his thin lips curled as he asked back, "What do you think?"
Stella Grant, "If President Sutton just wants to toy with me, then during this period, you’ve really put a lot of effort into me."
Which company president would be so idle?
Spending all day circling around a woman.
When the driver delivered Hugh York to the hotel and returned, Stella Grant and Silas Sutton were still in a standoff.
Silas Sutton bit the cigarette between his lips a bit more flatly, and his gaze fell upon Stella Grant, his expression indistinguishable between joy and anger.
The driver was from Sutton Group’s Portmere division, unaware of the matters between the two, nor did he notice the undercurrent between them. After getting off, he went to the back of the car to open the door for Silas Sutton, "President Sutton."
Silas Sutton lifted his gaze, took the cigarette from his mouth, put it out, and tossed it into the nearby trash can. He said to Stella Grant, "Get in the car."
Stella Grant pressed her lips together, turned, and walked to open the car door at the passenger seat.
Seeing this, Silas Sutton spoke in a calm tone, "Sit in the back, I have something to tell you."
Stella Grant’s hand paused slightly as she opened the car door, then bowed and got into the back seat under the driver’s smiling gaze.
After a moment, the car started driving on the road, Silas Sutton tossed his jacket draped over his arm aside, fiddled with his shirt collar with his fingers, "In front of people like Hugh York, put away those little tricks you used in small companies."
Stella Grant’s eyelids trembled slightly, knowing that Silas Sutton was teaching her the ways of the big company world. She didn’t speak, but her guarded expression visibly softened.
Silas Sutton turned his head to look at her, amused by her expression, "Do you really think of me as a tool?"
Stella Grant didn’t respond to his words, pressing her lips and asked, "So if I encounter similar situations again, what should I do?"
It’s not her fault, small companies want to complete their performance, they can’t rely on backgrounds and connections, they can only rely on methods.
Her methods, within small companies, are considered honest and straightforward.
As for the dirtier ones, it’s not that she can’t do them, it’s that her principles don’t allow her to do so.
Facing Stella Grant’s question, Silas Sutton deliberately kept silence, leaning back and raising a hand to beckon her.
Stella Grant raised an eyebrow, "Hmm?"
Silas Sutton didn’t speak, using the beckoning hand to tap his debonair cheek.
He was asking her to kiss him.
Stella Grant, "..."
Up front, the driver focused on driving, Stella Grant pressed her lips into a straight line, and in a voice only they could hear, said, "Silas Sutton."
Silas Sutton raised his brows lightly, "Silas Sutton?"
Stella Grant, "Are you not afraid I’ll pin this on you and ruin your reputation?"
Silas Sutton laughed deeply, "You better hurry, I’m quite popular in the market, don’t let someone else beat you to it."
Stella Grant choked, "..."
She wasn’t a match for Silas Sutton.
At least not in the aspect of ’shamelessness’.
After Silas Sutton spoke, he noted Stella Grant remained silent, paused for a few seconds, and chuckled, "Against an old fox like Hugh York, he’s been in business for so many years, seen all kinds of people, your little tricks won’t last a round in front of him."
Stella Grant frowned, "I know."
That’s why she chose to admit honestly immediately.
Silas Sutton looked down at her once more, "Don’t think about doing something to move people like this, the ’moving’ of a businessman is a plot only found in dramas. You must know a businessman succeeds primarily because of their stone-cold heart."
Stella Grant contemplated silently.
Silas Sutton said, "Think about it, if everyone tried to move them in such a clumsy way and they were all soft-hearted, how would their company continue?"
Stella Grant understood, "I get it."
Silas Sutton laughed softly, "To strike iron, you need to be tough yourself. You’re a capable person, when you meet equally capable opponents, compete with your strength."
Listening to Silas Sutton’s unreserved praise, Stella Grant sincerely thanked, "Thank you, President Sutton."
Silas Sutton smiled faintly, "Is it just a thank you?"
Stella Grant was silent for half a second, looked at him and said with a smile, "I’ll treat you to dinner sometime."
After Stella Grant finished speaking, there was a full thirty seconds of quiet in the car, followed by Silas Sutton’s teasing voice, "You have audacity."
