Lingering Passion: Mr. Sutton Wants to be Your Male Lead!-Chapter 109: His Person, His Lesson
Silas Sutton’s expression was profound after he finished speaking.
Stella Grant looked at him, her expression indifferent, "President Sutton, you just said you wouldn’t marry a woman you don’t love, that’s harmful to both parties."
Silas Sutton lowered his eyes to look at her, raised an eyebrow teasingly, deliberately misinterpreting her words, "Do you want to marry me?"
Stella Grant took a shallow breath, the fire within her chest had no outlet, "If I wish to marry you, would you agree?"
Silas Sutton’s lips curled into a smile, "You can try."
Upon hearing this, Stella Grant pursed her lips, paused for a few seconds, pushed him aside with her hand, and stood up to leave.
Stella Grant stepped into the restroom, and Silas Sutton, lazily seated against the coffee table, spoke up, "Stella Grant, why have you worked so hard these past years?"
The distant voice of Stella Grant echoed from the restroom, "To pay off debts earlier."
Silas Sutton, "That’s it?"
Stella Grant turned on the faucet, collected water into her hands, and washed her face, "President Sutton, dreams are things that sound ordinary, but they’re not something ordinary people can covet."
When even subsistence is an issue, what’s the point in talking about dreams?
Upon hearing Stella Grant’s words, Silas Sutton said in a deep voice, "Stella Grant, your biggest flaw is being too rational."
Stella Grant finished washing her face and exited the restroom, glancing at Silas Sutton, making eye contact with him, "Impulsiveness isn’t something ordinary people can covet either."
Impulsiveness comes with a price.
After one impulsive act, you may need ten follow-up actions.
Ordinary people don’t have that much time or energy, so over time, they develop a habit of avoiding impulsiveness.
Because they can’t afford the consequences after impulsiveness.
The two faced each other, Silas Sutton’s thin lips twitched slightly, "Maybe you’re right."
Stella Grant, "It’s not maybe, it’s certain, just like now, I know your motives towards me aren’t pure, I know some things that shouldn’t happen are inevitable under your management, yet I didn’t choose to resign, this is... fear of impulsiveness."
Stella Grant’s voice was cold and clear, Silas Sutton’s eyes momentarily squinted, "So if I were replaced with someone else, would you do the same?"
Stella Grant’s eyes moved slightly, but she didn’t answer.
Silas Sutton looked at her, recalling something Ben Lawson had mentioned before: I heard about a matter once, not sure if it’s true, but supposedly half a year ago, an executive from a listed company wanted to keep Stella Grant, and Stella Grant directly injured the executive’s head.
Silas Sutton’s question, Stella Grant ultimately didn’t answer.
At eight in the evening, Silas Sutton and Stella Grant arrived at a private kitchen suite.
When they reached, Hugh York had already been waiting for some time.
Seeing Silas Sutton, Hugh York proactively stood up to shake hands and exchange pleasantries, then glanced at Stella Grant, teasing, "You’ve found a gem."
Silas Sutton didn’t refute, smilingly responding, "Just lucky."
Hugh York, "Is it purely luck? Or was it premeditated?"
Faced with Hugh York’s question, Silas Sutton’s lips curved slightly but he remained silent.
Among men, there’s a mutual understanding, some things need not be spoken too clearly.
Seeing Silas Sutton not directly reply, Hugh York didn’t pursue further, inviting the two to sit, then calling the waiter to serve the dishes.
Hugh York, "Today, I’m the host, I’ve already chosen the dishes here, their specialties."
Silas Sutton reached for the teapot to pour Hugh York some water, "Why would that be fair? Clearly I promised to treat you this meal."
Just as Silas Sutton picked up the teapot, Stella Grant stood up, intending to take it from him.
He looked up at her, raised his eyebrows, signaling with his eyes for her to sit down.
Understanding, Stella Grant sat down while pushing Hugh York’s teacup towards Silas Sutton’s hand.
Stella Grant’s action was natural and casual, without any awkwardness, as if she stood just to push the teacup.
Sitting beside them, Hugh York observed this and chuckled, "President Sutton, you’re getting grander, even to pour me a cup of water, requiring your team’s help to push the cup."
Silas Sutton’s eyes contained a smile, "Without rules, nothing can be accomplished."
Once the tea was poured, Silas Sutton slid the teacup across the table towards Hugh York, casually asking, "Why isn’t Claudia here?"
Hugh York sipped the tea while replying, "The child is sick, she’s at the hospital taking care."
Silas Sutton said, "Claudia hasn’t had it easy these past two years."
Hugh York replied, "It’s the road she chose, outsiders can only help, can’t interfere."
Silas Sutton nodded lightly, "She’s a woman to be admired."
Hugh York pondered, "That girl, her stubbornness is ingrained in her bones..."
Saying this, Hugh York glanced at Stella Grant and said, "I must say, in her younger years she was quite similar to Grant."
Silas Sutton didn’t pursue Hugh York’s topic, subtly shifted the subject, "I heard you’ve been taking care of Claudia these past two years, since her counterpart was killed in the line of duty, wasn’t there any compensation?"
Hugh York said, "That I’m not sure of, I only take care, I don’t inquire about other matters."
Silas Sutton, "You’re equally admirable."
Hugh York waved his hand, "Nowadays, people’s eyes are dirty, their hearts too, in their view, there’s no righteousness or morality, as long as there’s an association between sexes, it’s treated as an improper relationship."
Silas Sutton lowered his head and chuckled, then looked at Stella Grant, with a deep voice, "Hmm, ignorance."
Seeing this, Hugh York laughed aloud, "Don’t set me up, I’m not talking about Grant."
Silas Sutton, "I’m the one referring to her, ignorant, I’ll personally teach her slowly."
