Life Simulation: My Talent Is Wool-Chapter 41: Crimson Hand
What was happening within that group of hunters was intriguing, to say the least.
Luan saw the exact moment they started fighting, and one of them killed the other easily.
Even from a good distance, he managed to hear the content of their conversations; after all, they were in a place where, even if one lowered their voice, it would still echo over a considerable distance.
Meanwhile, Kaizen, who had steadied himself with his sword stuck into the ground, cursed upon seeing things get out of control: "Damn!"
He also heard the content of the conversation between Oruam and Sergio.
He knew Oruam very well, so he made a point of explaining his actions so he would be able to hear as well and understand the reason for what he did.
Accustomed to betraying, but not being betrayed... his anger intensified.
His venomous gaze shifted from Catharina to Luan.
"No matter if the information we had doesn’t match your true strength, in the end, this is it." He relaxed his muscles, then held the greatsword with both hands, causing his sword to crackle with lightning around it, just like his boots: "No matter how strong you are, as long as I am fast, I will be invincible!"
*Whoosh!*
Fast – Very fast!
He became even faster than before.
In the blink of an eye, he appeared before Luan and Catharina.
Catharina removes her veil, revealing her beautiful face.
When her red eyes were revealed, a crimson glow appeared in her beautiful golden eyes.
From those eyes, a mystical power manifested.
For a brief second – all of Kaizen’s great momentum diminished.
"This is bad!" In the distance, Oruam had a bad premonition.
Kaizen, who had his greatsword raised in the air, only two meters away from Luan and Catharina, showed reluctance and struggle in his eyes.
Catharina moved.
If Kaizen seemed fast before, she was even faster!
*SQUELCH!*
Her shovel-shaped hand pierced Kaizen’s heart, passing through to the other side.
*Blargh!*
Kaizen vomited a mouthful of blood onto Catharina.
"What... H-How?" Besides the despair, Kaizen seemed very confused.
Whether it was because he didn’t understand how he couldn’t move before, or because she was so fast and decisive, piercing his heart with her own hand.
*Squelch-squish!*
Catharina pulls her hand out of Kaizen’s body, and says calmly and indifferently: "Does it make a difference to know? After all... You are practically dead."
Without giving him a second glance, she returned to Luan’s side, while the blood that had been spat onto her by Kaizen was easily controlled by her, forming a ball of blood, which was soon dropped onto the ground.
"How are you?" As she helped Luan support himself, Catharina’s voice, previously cold, became sweeter and gentler.
Smiling a little, Luan reassured her: "Seriously, I’m fine, just a bit of pain, that’s all."
"Really? What a relief~!" She let out a relieved sigh.
Meanwhile, Kaizen fell stiffly to the ground.
His eyes were still wide open, looking in Catharina’s direction, full of reluctance over what had just happened.
He didn’t seem to believe, even on his deathbed, that he had been killed by that young girl...
On Kaizen’s group’s side, they fell into panic.
"S-Strong?!"
"Kaizen is dead!!"
They no longer even seemed like the calm group from before; now they were thrown into chaos, desperate and filled with fear.
If even Kaizen had died, what would become of them?
Obviously, they would be next, right?
"Oruam?"
One of them noticed that Oruam was already at the access stairs to floor 2.
"If you want to stay and die, that’s your choice, I’m getting the hell out of here!" Saying that, he didn’t hesitate any longer, running at full speed.
There was no true loyalty among them.
When they saw that Kaizen was done for, they only cared about their own lives, without even thinking about revenge.
Some hesitated for a brief moment, but soon they all fled.
"Are we going to let them escape?" Catharina asked.
Seeing that, Luan really didn’t want to, but to say that they had absolute certainty of winning without any real damage would be a lie.
In desperate times, people tend to do more absurd things.
Who knows what they might sacrifice just to escape with their lives?
Perhaps even using attacks with mutual mutilation was possible.
’If only I were stronger...’
Now that he was injured, he wouldn’t be able to help much if they wanted to go after them, but now? He would have to depend entirely on Catharina.
"Sigh, let them go." He finally let it out with some reluctance.
"... Alright, I’ll listen to you." She gave up on chasing them.
...
After resting and eating a piece of meat, and drinking plenty of water, Luan felt better to continue.
Before leaving, he searched through the belongings of Kaizen and the fat twins.
With Kaizen, he found a total of 43 gold coins and 32 silver coins.
With the fat twins, there wasn’t much, only 2 gold coins in total.
Besides that, Kaizen’s equipment in particular was very good.
However...
"We can’t take this with us." He sighed, saying: "And, we can’t leave these bodies here like this..."
"I’ll lure a Nightmare here, wait a moment!" Saying that, she didn’t even wait, rushing off.
Minutes later, she returned with a Nightmare chasing after her.
At this point, Luan had already deactivated all the traps he had set at the exit of floor 3.
"Run!" Catharina shouted.
She didn’t even need to say it, Luan had already started to flee while pulling the cart.
The moment Catharina entered the passage to floor 2, the Nightmare stopped. Then, it stomped on the ground as if it were angry, but then its large nose went into action, sniffing the scent in the air, and then it found the remains of the fat twins and Kaizen piled in one place.
"It worked!" Catharina smiled.
"Yes, you were great!" He smiled back at her. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
With everything done, they didn’t hesitate any longer, and then they left.
Before reaching floor 2, Catharina put the veil back on.
