He fell flat without a doubt, trusting his partner completely. The protective flame of Guardian’s Resolve surrounded Carmilla’s sword as it swept over his head and cut cleanly through several of the megalodon’s front teeth.

The blade had enough power to pierce the creature’s mouth and draw a stream of tainted blood.

The megalodon pulled back, letting Rick go from the test of strength. He rolled away, gasping for air as Blood Price’s effects wore off and Knight’s Endurance started to heal him.

Rick said, "Thanks for the save," between breaths.

"Always there for you," Carmilla said with a fierce grin as she moved to her next spot.

Natasha took advantage of the megalodon’s retreat, having prepared a spell of unprecedented scale. She gathered moisture from the air, the ocean, and even the corrupted rain itself.

Now, she unleashed her magic. "Glacial Fortress: Absolute Zero!"

A huge dome of ice formed around the megalodon, covering it and freezing the space inside. The temperature dropped so much that the corrupted rain turned into purple ice crystals before it hit the ground.

As the megalodon’s blood began to freeze in its veins, its movements slowed down a lot. "There’s our chance!" Natasha shouted.

"ALRIIGGGHTTT!!! HAHAHAHAHA! LET’S ATTACK IT TOGETHER WHILE IT’S STUCK LIKE THE WEAKLING IT IS!" Zara yelled from where she still had the rider pinned.

Rick didn’t need to be told more than once. "Time to use my most favorite skill."

He turned on Spirit Unity and felt the full power of all five of his bonded partners flow through him at once. Golden light burst from his body as the strength of Carmilla, Natasha’s clarity, Liora’s divine power, Sylvia’s draconic might, and Zara’s demonic strength all came together inside him.

"I’ll double it... no... triple it—nah! I’ll fucking quintuple it!" Rick clenched both his fists.

"DEMONIC OVERDRIVE...!!! TIMES FIVEEEEEEEEEE!" Gold and red aura exploded inside his body until it made a massive light that could be seen by everyone.

His body changed more than it ever had before. He was completely covered in dragon scales that glowed with holy energy.

And they could see demonic power swirling around him in the air. His wings spread out as far as they could, crackling with elemental energy.

"On my mark, everyone get in line!" Rick’s voice echoed across the battlefield, resonating with an otherworldly clarity.

He could feel each of his partners getting ready to use their strongest attacks through their bond network.

Sylvia transformed back into her human form and conjured her dragon fire, creating a massive ball of searing golden flame that rose above her outstretched hands.

The protective fire encasing Carmilla’s sword blazed so intensely that it was painful to behold directly.

Natasha’s ice magic intensified, causing spears of frozen energy to levitate in the air, each humming with lethal power.

Liora’s divine energy manifested as a colossal lance of pure golden light, appearing above her like a spear cast by the gods themselves.

Meanwhile, Zara, still holding the rider captive, extended one hand and unleashed demonic energy into a red sphere that throbbed with raw destructive force.

And Rick, who was at the center of it all, gathered all of his strength for his final attack.

"Three!" Rick said, and with each number, his aura got stronger.

"Two...!"

The megalodon thrashed around violently in its icy prison when it sensed the destruction coming. Natasha’s Glacial Fortress started to crack.

"ONE!"

"NOW!"

Six powerful attacks occurred simultaneously.

The first came from Sylvia’s dragon fire orb, which melted the ice and burned away the outer layer of crystalline corruption. The megalodon’s roar echoed loudly, causing it pain as the dragon fire seared its flesh.

Next, Carmilla struck with her sword, cutting deeply into the creature’s skull, empowered by Guardian’s Resolve. The protective flame not only inflicted damage but also prevented healing wherever it made contact.

Natasha’s ice spears came next, and each one hit and broke a major corruption node. As the megalodon’s corruption network was broken up, its healing factor dropped a lot.

Zara’s demonic energy sphere exploded against the creature’s side, creating a massive wound that corruption couldn’t immediately close.

And then Rick and Liora struck together.

Rick’s Crimson Devastation and Liora’s divine lance came together to make something that had never been seen before. With all the demonic, draconic, and holy energies together, they should have canceled each other out, but instead they formed a spiraling beam of pure and balanced destruction.

The attack went right through the megalodon’s body, going in through its skull and out through its tail. The huge creature seemed to be frozen in time for a moment, held in place by the power that flowed through it.

Then the energies went off.

The blast was huge, and it was shaped like a sphere of golden-red light that covered the whole megalodon. The creature was still standing, but just barely, when it cleared.

The blast had completely destroyed the megalodon’s crystalline corruption armor, leaving it simultaneously burned and frozen. And most importantly, the purple glow in its eyes was fading and flickering.

Carmilla yelled, "It’s getting weaker!"

"We need just one more push to stop it!"

"Liora—" Rick was about to attack again, but Liora raised her hand before they could start another coordinated attack.

"Wait! Hold it, everyone!" She shouted while giving them a caution of something.

"I have a feeling that the corruption comes from the outside and not from within..."

The creature beneath isn’t naturally corrupted."

"It’s being controlled."

She stepped forward, and her divine energy changed from harmful to healing. Instead of attacking, she used her magic to poke around at the corruption that was inside the megalodon.

"The rider’s magic holds the corruption in place," Liora said, her eyes shining with divine sight. "I can free the creature without killing it if I can clean up the connection of the corruption."

"Do it," Rick said right away. "We should save it if we can."

"Who knows what we could do with it, such as possibly using it for transportation to the Ocean Empress?" Rick was joking about it, but some of them agree.

"That’s actually reasonable." Natasha agreed.

Liora nodded and began to speak in the ancient language of her temple. Divine energy flowed from her in waves, covering the wounded megalodon. All the corruption that was consuming it started to fade away, like morning mist in the sun wherever her power went.

The megalodon thrashed weakly, and its movements no longer appeared aggressive and instead seemed more confused. The purple light in its eyes flickered and went out, leaving behind the normal black of a natural predator.

Finally, with one last burst of divine power, Liora cut the corruption anchor completely.

The result was quick and satisfying. A huge holy shockwave sent purple energy flying out from the megalodon, where it harmlessly spread out into the air.

The crystalline growths broke apart and fell off, showing the shark scales underneath. The creature’s size even seemed to get a little smaller, as if the corruption had been making it bigger on purpose.

The freed megalodon let out one last, tired roar before slowly sinking back into the ocean. The ancient creature just wanted to get back to the depths, where it belonged, not because of corruption.

"Let’s not forget about the person riding it!" Natasha yelled out of nowhere.

"When Liora cut the anchor, the corruption that was controlling him should’ve stopped too!"
